Default What's sturdy, cheap, but thinner then cardboard?

Hello all you crafty ladies! I'm making these as part of my centerpieces:

The inner "drawers" will be made out of poster board, but the outer box... I'm not sure. Cardboard seems too thick, and too rough around the edges. But poster board isn't strong enough, and wouldn't give the 3d look that I'm looking for. Am I missing something where cardboard would work fine and I'm over-thinking it? Or is there some other material that would work better?

Those are super cute!

I am not sure about the materials though. I would check a local craft store.

How about that thin type of cardboard? You can get colored kinds to mat photos, but the plain old brown kind is really cheap. Love the tardia, BTW!

what about heavy duty cardstock? maybe even 110lb? its usually thinner and stronger than some cardboard and should hold your chocolates fine. you can also pick your own colors that way too.. any office supply store would carry it, i.e., staples, officemax, etc. you can print on them as well

Thanks for the advice gals. I found a another example of the same design, with a bit more instruction. She used four pieces of regular cardboard for the walls, and wrapped a heavy card stock around them to hold it all together. I'm going to have to go check out the card stock at my local stores and see what they have. Thanks again!
