So we're getting married (me being the guy) in about a year. My fiance and I are both pretty big college football fans. We'll be getting married in Florida. Instead of just renting out a restaurant or something, I was thinking about having a "tailgate" party for the rehearsal dinner. It would be catered with open bar, but it'd be a little more laid back and playful, I thought, which would reflect our personalities. Thoughts?

Haha - thanks Gwen. I was somewhat worried, but now that I've met most of her family it seems like it would go over pretty well. Us Southerners and tailgating...can't go wrong, I guess. The reception dinner will be pretty nice, so I thought this was be a nice change of pace.

If you have the right crowd and let everyone know what to expect, I think it would be great

I say go for it. You know the crowd better than anyone, so do something you know they'll enjoy.

Sounds fun to me!! We had a traditional rehearsal dinner and I regret it. I wish that we would have gotten more creative and fun like you're planning. Go for it!

Thanks, ladies! I'm rather proud of the idea, so it's nice to get some confirmation that I'm not crazy.
