Depending on where we are for Thanksgiving, depends on when I put it all up. If we leave town and go by my parents for Thanksgiving, I try and put it up the weekend before Thanksgiving. This is the first year that we are having Thanksgiving at our house, so I'm not sure! Maybe my mom and I will decorate the day after and out to cut down a tree with DH that weekend!

We always decorate the day after Thanksgiving
 My cousin decorates (including the tree) November 1st! So her tree is already up. I can listen to Christmas music now, but couldn't decorate this early.

For the two years that I could decorate, I did it right after Thanksgiving. This year, I don't think we are going to make it to my dream of being in our own house by Christmas, and I'm just not motivated to decorate this house (it's tiny... kinda like the house in that fake reality show commercial from Geico with the house that was just too small). I'd rather just wait until next year when we (hopefully!) have space to put up a tree.

I like to decorate for every season, holiday, etc. I love changing things up a bit and always making things feel a bit special! Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday and even though we don't celebrate Thanksgiving it is still a sort of turning point that signals a transition from Fall decorations to Christmas decorations. I can't wait!

Growing up my mom brought down the decorations and got to work as soon as everyone left from eating thanksgiving dinner.
For us, we shoot for December 1st. But it normally depends on my DH's work schedule and of course it's hunting season. So whenever he is home and has time he brings boxes down, starting the 1st. And I get to decorating as soon as that first box appears.

while my mom is out shopping on "black friday" the tradition was that us kids and my dad put up the christmas tree and start on the outside decorations.
