So last night we got some really bad storms. We noticed it started to get really ugly out so we decided to drive very quickly to our universities campus because we live in an apartment building on the 2nd story and we can't hear tornado sirens from where we live. So we got to campus just in time for the sirens to start going off. We came to campus because the Campus' main building has a basement (where all of the mailboxes and such are and offices) our friend has an office down there. We ended up having to take cover in the basement for 2 hours, but we made it out safe so that is always a plus :)
ANYWAYS come to find out a lot of trees are down and such, including one in our yard and lucky us it landed on our electric line. Well we reported the situation to the power company, and I guess they said that 300,000 people are without power and it will take them about 72 hours just to assess(sp?) the situation. Then maybe more time after that to fix it. So we could be without power for a week! (I am posting this from my campus' library) We JUST filled our fridge with food from the store about 3 hours before the storm. Soooo we had to quickly bring all of our frozen food to a friends house to store so we don't lose it all. OH! and we are on a well, so we have no water either, because the pump, well, it can't pump the water. So we have to go to friends house to shower and use the restroom... I think we may have to move out until the power comes back on lol PLUS we start our last year of college classes on Thursday, so I really hope the power is back on by then.... but they said up to a week erg!
It is pretty flooded here, and we are expected to get another 2-3 inches tonight from another storm system moving in. GREAT.
Oh, need a mention, I am like deathly afraid of storms.... oh how I love the mid-west.
So If I'm not around for about a week that's why!
