Well, I didn't get married yet but I have heard from friends that its usually not very good! However, I don't know if they stored them correctly or not in the freezer so we'll see!

We tossed ours.

It shouldn't take any longer than 24 hours to thaw in the fridge. If it has picked up any flavours from the freezer, just toss it and get some fresh nummies to share while you gaze longingly at your wedding cake :)

We had to travel in the heat in a very packed car back home ( a 7 hours trip ) after our wedding so we didn't keep ours either. I know there are certain ways to freeze it to make it ok in a year. Not sure I would want to try a cake that has been frozen for a year though.

Take it out the night before, but it well wrapped in your fridge the night before and then give it a whirl. However, I would buy some cupcakes or something if you can from the place you got your cake to get that taste as it will not be that good. Oh get some chocolate covered strawberries yummy.
Congratulations on your anniversary!!!

My friend got married over a year ago and said that when she took hers out it was great. Her and her husband loved it so much they put it back in the freezer to save for another day.

We gave our top layer to a friend on the wedding night because our freezer didn't work. I plan on going back to the bakery and ordering a small cake in the same flavor.

Our cake baker, made a special cake "top" for us, that was separate, (with no extra cost) and put it in a freezer ready box, so we have never even see that part! It went straight into my parents deep freeze. We are hoping it will be okay since she wrapped it herself and stuff. She said it has to be a done a certain way in order for it to work.

Congrats on your anniversary!
