I have one major frustration with my skin - I get LOTS of ingrown hairs. Whenever I wax, it's inevitable, I get them (especially on legs and bikini area).

Some are painful, some aren't and don't leave any marks, a pair of tweezers and a day or two and you can't tell anymore, but the painful ones leave scars that I can't seem to get rid of. They fade over time, but sometimes it takes months. i'm really self-conscious about this and I know nobody will see them under my dress - but I DO want to look nice. And FEEL nice.

I was wondering if you have a "miracle-solution" - a product, or just a routine (such as a particular way to wash, etc...)

I exfoliate regularly and take mostly hot showers, an occasional bath, and I go swimming in pretty cold water often (at the pool or in the sea).

Depends on where they are.... if you're talking bikini area, look for the Bikini Zone shave gel and treatment gel. The shave gel has little exfoliating beads in it... lathers up really nicely, and sloughs off the dead skin cells at the same time. Then the treatment gel calms down the little red bumps afterward, soothes irritation.

Also, look for bath/body products with salicylic acid in them. Neutrogena's Body Clear line has it; this is great for ingrowns on the knees (if you wear jeans a lot, you might occasionally get them), and also good if you get those tiny little bumps on the back of your arms.

My hair is very fine and gets easily caught under my skin, so my legs are always have lots of little bumps. I don't have very thick hair, so this may only work for fine hairs. I started using a very rough scrubber in the shower--the roughest I could find! Just start scrubbing the problem areas lightly with it every day, and after about 1-2 weeks I had much smoother skin. This is decreased my number of ingrown hair bumps by ~90%, so there's a big difference!

I also heard you can make your own aspirin exfoliating mixture. I haven't tried this, but I've seen recipes all over the place, so it should be easy to find them.

I exfoliate regularly, so that takes care of 95% of the "small" ones that create little bumps. The ones that bother me are mostly on my knees, and are "deeper" so don't seem too affected by my use of exfoliant.

I haven't tried salicylic acid so I'll look in to some Netrogena products ! Thanks for the tip :)

I go for bikini waxes, and one time the lady sprayed something to prevent ingrown hairs. It really worked, I didn't get any that time. I don't know what it was, but you could try asking a waxer.

I guess I could - just don't want to have to PAY for one - I'm a DIY waxer :p

I wish I could do it myself... it is so expensive. I tried once, but I just couldn't pull hard enough. I guess I just can't inflict that much pain on myself, so I need to have someone else do it. =)

i advice u to use
Sodium bicarbonate after u take a hot shower
everytime u take shower get Dishtowel and put some Sodium bicarbonate and begin to wash ur body softly
after a few times all these ingrown hairs will vanish
i try this by the way and have a good result

also,on another note, when you notice those scars start treating them with cocoa butter (the stick not the lotion) it helps scars go away

I swear by Coochy Creme (Cream?). I also have really fine hair and get lots of ingrowns (on my legs too twu!), waxing more so than shaving, but shaving always left me bumpy (especially shaving every day) and ingrown also. This is the best, you can get a really close shave and do it every day to keep smooth without the ingrowns. I haven't tried using it after waxing to prevent ingrowns when the hair grows back.

If you're hooked on waxing, Bliss has a product called "Ingrown Hair Eliminating Pads" http://www.blissworld.com/product/bliss+ingrown+hair+eliminating+peeling+pads.do?sea rch=basic&keyword=ingrown&sortby=all&asc=false&page=1

if you search their website for "ingrown" you can find it and a complementing scrub. It says you can use it after shaving but I found it worked best after waxing. It's a little "stingy" after shaving.

yah i have heard it is awesome, You can probably buy it online but make sure its not a knock off (sometimes they will spell creme/cream different and you might think its the same, add a word.. oh marketing--- careful)
