My wedding isn't until June 14, 2008, but I'm trying to get everything planned and ready way before that day. Anyway, I bought some bird seed for favors and I'm wondering if it goes bad once the bag is open? Like if I wrap it in tulle or something now for the favors, will it be weird by the time the wedding gets here? This may be a stupid question but I really have no clue whether I should wait to do those favors or not. Thanks!

I don't think it goes bad after opening, but I'm not 100% sure. We didn't do birdseed because I didn't want it all over/in my dress. Haha.

Keep it away from moisture or green buds will be sprouting through the tule :)

It can either become infected with fungus (which can kill the birds) or can sprout.
I would wait till at least 60 days before the wedding to get it and put it into Tulle - keep it dry and don't store it packed tightly together as the seed has it's own moisture.
Good Luck !

That's what I was afraid of! Thanks everyone! I've already bought the seed, I'll just keep it put away for now!

:bblol: I would have said "GO FOR IT!" too. Hehe! Oops!
Daisybride, you're getting married 2 weeks after I am. I know how you feel wanting to get everything done! I'm all over it, too!

Good, so I'm not the only one! My friends and family are all like "you're not getting married for like another year, chill out!" But I've always been this way...I have to be super prepared and everything has to be perfect and planned. lol Plus I don't want to be making favors at the last minute when I know I'll have more important things to be worrying about. So while I have the extra time now, why not get a head start?!

I only thought it would be okay because my dad gets birdseed all the time and leaves it opened in a bucket in the garage, and its always fine.

I'm sure you've already done this, but make sure that your able to use birdseed at your ceremony location. Some churches don't allow it because it's a falling hazard.

That is a good point. My church allowed bird seed but not rice.
