I have a dilemma about our tablecloths for the reception. The reception hall we are using is extremely beautiful and has 33 round tables in it. It may be completely tacky, but I'm trying to stay within my budget...would white, round plastic tablecloths be terrible? I really don't have an extra $200 for the cloth kind. But I guess if it is going to look terrible then I'll have to fork up that money somehow!

I would at least look around for the paper ones, they look a little better. I saw an event this weekend where they had them and they looked ok. The lady said they got them from costco for cheap.

Good idea, I never really thought about paper ones.

Check with your caterer. They may be able to order you heavy paper table clothes that look like linen.

The ladies who are catering for us own a really small restaurant and don't really cater things too often. I'm friends with the owner's daughter so they wanted to help out. So unfortunately they don't have the tablecloths. If anyone knows where i could purchase cheap ones online please let me know!

- really plastic would look terrible. im giving my honest opinion. Try to look ok ebay- if you know the measurments you could try looking for them in bulk from ebay.
"This auction is for TWENTY or so 54 by 54 White polylined tablecovers. 2 play tissue. Made by HOFFMASTER. These are new, we only used a partial case and just don't need the rest."
This is a paper lot from ebay- it was abour 10.00 right now

Also, are you any good at sewing? I would go to Joanns or Michael's and get fabric- Alot of times super walmart has differen fabrice for 97cent a yard.
I would see how much fabric you need and get the fabric to "make them"
All you need to do is make one template and then you can have a bunch of people help cut the pattern and find someone you know who can just trim the edges. it wont be any harder then hemming. Plus you can probably sell them on here for a couple dollars a piece. If that truly isnt an option (sewing) One other suggestion i have is possibily getting white or whatever cheap colored material you can get and making it a table cloth that does not hang down. Cover the tops of the tables and then underneath wherr nobody will ever see it, tape the edges that usually would have hung down. this will give it a clean look.
I dont know how much material you would need per table but its worth a try to look!

this store had them for about 8.00 a piece.
you could call local stores (i heard of a girl doing this on OW) and ask them if you clean them will they buy them back for 5.00 a piece after the wedding. some will do it (think of it- they rent them for 15 + EACH WEDDING why wouldnt they invest 5 bucks :) )
Then you could make back most of your money-
http://www.linencompany.com/product.php?productid=18091&cat=855&page=1 this place has them for 81.00 for 12- i know its pricey but you will spend the same amount to rent and you wont get any return of reselling them after-
http://www.bestbuyuniforms.com/detail.asp?id=VISAT THIS PLACE IS 56.00 FOR A SET OF 12. its like 4 bux a piece. i think you would spend about that on good plastic ones anyway
also something i thought of is those real heavy plastic with the thick padding on the back (but i saw those for about 5.00 a piece)

the more i think about it- i think those plastic ones with the felt feeling on the back. But i searched. they almost looked to be the same price as the other linen tablecloths when bought in bulk.
good luck. if i come across anything, ill let you know :)

Like vinyl? I found some on iparty.com. They looked nice, they were about $4 each. I also found some at shindigz.com. They are paper and only $2.79 each...but the photo beside them looks round, but it doesn't say that in the description so I'm not sure...

Yah what i was talking about is vinyl. I think that if it was not shiny it might work for you. I think its the shiny that would throw people off of the platic.
I was thinking, what do the tables look like? Could you just do a table runner instead of a table cloth (if they are big wooden tables, it might work)

Well I was only there once, a few weeks ago, and I just remember they are white and round, lol. I'm going back next week to take pictures so I can remember everything.

I actually bought chocolate plastic ones from Oriental Trading and they don't look bad at all. I think that white is a little different then colored ones, but I'm having a fall wedding and the chocolate went perfect.

Oriental Trading is where I saw them first, and you can't beat the price, so I was going to try to make them work. But everyone I've talked to says not to use them. They didn't look bad in the book at all. I just can't see paying $300 for something we will use for 5 hours and never use again. Maybe I'll just order one of the plastic ones and see what it looks like first.

Does anyone know where I can order round vinyl cloths online (cheap)??? I've checked all the stores around me, all I can find is plastic or really expensive cloth.

Take a look at this site - from what I gathered, you can request a sample of the fabric: http://www.wholesale-table-linens.com/round-tablecloths.html

I don't see any bad reviews of them online, but it makes me nervous having them shipped to me just a few days before the wedding - and then having to ask someone to box them up and ship them back for me afterwards. Hmm.
