Have any of you seen any dresses with sleeves that you liked? The more I think about our wedding the more I am thinking I should get a dress with sleeves. But I haven't seen any that I really liked. I am worried I will be cold, that and I am very self conscious of my arms. I know I could wear a shawl but if I find a dress that has sleeves I think I would be more comfortable. Even 3/4 sleeves would be good. If any of you see any in your travels please post them for me.

Thanks DD! I should have mentioned though that I can't have a train that big. I would like a chapel train. With my luck I would trip on the train and fall off the mountain!!:bbeek:

I saw a couple cute dresses with sleeves but they were all too traditional bridal gown looking for me. I wanted something more simple. Check out www.theknot.com and www.weddingchannel.com they both have great wedding gown searches that you can look up by sleeve length.

I don't know. I haven't gone to try any on yet. I wear size 10 to 12 jeans if that helps at all.

Oh yeah, I forgot you were getting married on a mountain ;) You could probably still get a "sweep" or if you found a dress you love with a train you could have it removed or permanently bustled ... I have seen both done.

I found this one with sleeves I like ...

Street clothes differ from Weddig dresses..The dress is an 8 can be altered to two sizes larger..It fits fairly large to begin with..It is a gorgeous dress!! Judging by the size pant you wear you might wear a 10-12 wedding dress...As i said, you would have to try on a size 8 to know..I am going to tell u.Every brand fits differntly..So dont be upset if one size say 10 fits in one dress then you try on another size 10 and you need a 12..The designers designed the dresses to fit differently..I went from dress to dress..Fianlly the one i got was a 12 and it fit small.I cried..But then i tried on the 8 and it Fit perfectly..But the dresses are by two different designers too..So as i said try on a Marys gown in a size 8 and see how it fits...

D.D. is right ... wedding gowns typically run 1 1/2 - 2 sizes larger than average dress sizes. If you are a size 12, you might need a size 14 in the wedding dress. (Way to make the bride feel good right ;)) The other down side I have noticed (out here where I am at least) is that it is often hard to try on gowns at the shops because many shops don't carry dresses (in stock) that are larger than a 10 (which would be like an 8)

Yeah I have heard that about wedding dresses too. I'll have a better idea when I get to a shop to try some on which I should plan on doing soon.

I found a bunch of dresses this morning that I like parts of. Danny's mom was telling me this morning that they know a woman who does the alterations for one of our local bridal shops and she makes them on the side too. So maybe I can't find what I want I can have her make me one.

I love everything about this one though except the bodice lines showing thru like that:

That is a very lovely dress Becky! I love the sleeves and the neckline and I also like how the fabric is sort of draped on the skirt part. But I agree about the bodice lines, I think it would be nicer if it was more opaque.

When I get home and have a chance, I'll scan in the pic I have of the dress I first fell in love with...it wasn't true love, but it was a pretty dress. I don't know if they make it anymore, it was a "winter style". You should definitely be looking around now if you want something with sleeves since the "winter" dresses are out. Maybe you could catch the perfect one on the sale rack at the end of the season!

I found it on the knot. I wanted to use this site but I couldn't figure out how to do a search to only see the style dress I want. I actually found quite a few that I really liked. I will post them next.

I agree ... and I think the one you originally picked could be done that way and look very nice too.

Good luck finding your perfect dress!

I was reading your journal last night and man, I couldn't hike up a mountain for 2-3 hours ;)

When I was looking at these, it was the week after Valentine's Day last year. I remember because Jason was down for Valentine's Day and we went together. Can you believe the winter stuff would be on sale only half way through February? Wow...

It's really not that bad. It usually takes us 1 hour and 45 min in the summer but in the winter it took 3 hours and 15 min. But there are so many things to look at it makes the time pass by pretty quick. We are planning on going up soon and bringing our sleds this time so we can slide back down. I can't wait!! I have always wanted to do that!:D We really need to have some kids so I have someone to play with! LOL!!

I just started knitting and crocheting again and I was thinking about trying to make a light shawl or something to just drape across my arms. I will just have to keep up on my arm exercising and maybe I won't need to worry about any of this.......That would be nice!;)

It is crazy but that is the time that my friend and I usually hit the stores for all the winter clearance on clothes. Thanks I will have to check it out soon. I just can't see paying alot for a dress that I will only wear twice.

I am always telling Danny this. Cause most of the time I have to drag him, but once he gets out he has fun!

I watch my friends son once in awhile. He is 9 and is always up to go play. Unless he sees the playstation first!!:bbcry: Then he's off to play that for hours!
