Ok, so this isn't specifically for a wedding, though I'm sure it will apply if I end up doing my own makeup. I never had anyone to show me how to pluck my eyebrows properly. I can shape them decently, but I swear they're CURLY. Consequently they look pretty jagged and sparse most of the time, and I hate wearing pencil. Should I trim them like some hairy old lady? Any ideas? :bblol:

I would ask around for a recommendation for a good salon, and have them professionally done. They can get them shaped well so that you'll only need to do touch ups, and they'll let you know if trimming is a good option (I'd think NO, cus if it's shorter, the hair might get more curly)... Also, look into brow gels (or plain ol clear mascara) to keep them under control.

Try some eye brow gel, that will help tame those curls. Also if they are sparse, use an eyebrow restoring gel. I use billion dollar brows and it works great! http://www.billiondollarbrows.com/?gclid=CJjn5IW-940CFRqWGgodwF9PMA

Can you go to a salon and have them wax them and shape them and stuff? I just did that one time...then i just kept up with them myself. Its so annoying to have to pluck your brows all the time! Sometimes i wish i was a boy!

A lot of women go overboard on plucking their eyebrows. My wife has a nice set of brows and I like it when she leaves them alone. Look at some of the famous actresses out their. Many of them leave their bold eyebrows intact as it adds to their beauty. Less is more.

Many salons may pluck the heck out of your eyebrows even though they are professional. Be sure you are going to a place that has good artistic taste and style or you may look worse off then when you started.

A lot of women go overboard on plucking their eyebrows.I somewhat agree; I do get my eyebrows waxed, but just to keep them from looking messy. I see some woman that I really think have their brows done way too thin. My sister is one of these people ;)

Sometimes I use a little hair gel on an eyebrow brush to help keep my brows in place. If your brows are thick and out of control you can trim them; I use to know someone that did this with hers.

Plucking takes more time and is more painful than waxing; I would much rather get my brows waxed. But you have to find a good place that will listen to what you want and do it right.

I wish I had some eyebrows to speak of LOL They either grow above the normal brow line or below. I wish I had enough to shape.

Go to a salon that specializes in doing this and have them done. They will wax them or thread them and also clip the top edge.

I asked a middle eastern friend of mine what she does because her eyebrows are perfect! She told me to tell you to look for a salon where middle eastern women go :)

5 Steps to a Perfect Eyebrow Shape

Trim your eyebrows. This will make a big difference in helping you look younger. Once eyebrows reach a certain length they start losing pigments at the ends. I love using a mustache trimmer set I purchased at a department store. It comes with a little comb and perfect point scissors. Comb your eyebrows up, trim any excess that goes beyond the natural hair line. Comb your eyebrows down, and do the same. It may seem like a lot at first but trust me, you will love the outcome.

Take an eyeliner pencil and place it vertically against your nose. It should run from the side of the nose, mid-mouth, and by the tear duct of the eye. This is where your eyebrow should start; any hair that is visible beyond the pencil should be tweezed.

Next place the pencil diagonally where it should hit the middle of the mouth, nostril, and outside the iris of the eye. This is wear your arch is. Tweeze a gradually line from the arch to the start of the eyebrow. Remember, GRADUAL, nothing harsh.

To determine the end of the eyebrow, place the pencil diagonally across to his the opposite corners of the mouth, nostril, and outside corner of the eye. Any hair that goes past should be tweezed.

Place your pencil horizontal from the start of the eyebrow to the end of the eyebrow. The pencil should create a perfect straight line.

For those of you, who prefer a wax or threading over a pair of tweezers, make sure you go to a trusted salon. I have seen a lot of eyebrow accidents. It seems like they always want to make eyebrows very thin and have harsh angles. Look through magazine and see how models and celebrities have their eyebrows shaped. Don't let them over do it. Thin eyebrows will age a woman faster then sun and birthdays!

Tweezers: Everybody has tweezers in their medicine cabinet. You use tweezers to remove one hair at a time. Tweezing can be very painful and may cause ingrown hairs. Tweezing your eyebrows is great when you are in between waxing appointments.

Waxing: Waxing is when hot wax is applied and a strip of cloth is applied and then ripped off, taking the hairs with it. There are two ways to wax your eyebrows. You can get a home waxing kit from a beauty store or you can go to a salon and have your eyebrows waxed. When you remove eyebrow hair by waxing your results will last about 4 to 6 weeks. You must have a quarter-inch of hair for it to be removed effectively with waxing. There are some negatives to waxing: the wax can be too hot and cause burning or begin to age the skin. When you wax, the top layer of the hair can be damaged or removed in the process; over time this can cause wrinkles and fine lines.

Threading: Is a fairly new process in the states that started in eastern countries. Threading is when the consultant twists two pieces of thread together and removes facial hair by catching it in the twist. Threading is supposed to be less painful and can last about 2 to 4 weeks. Threading is usually less expensive then waxing and causes less damage as well. Unfortunately, it is hard to find a professional threader outside a big city.

WHAT IS THREADING?

By using a piece of thread, hair can be removed swiftly yet meticulously from the most delicate areas of the face. Facial threading is the best alternative to waxing and tweezing, especially for sensitive skin. Unlike waxing, threading does not remove a layer of skin, which may cause sun damage. Threading is by far the least invasive method of facial hair removal, leaving the skin clean and smooth.

Originated in the Middle East, threading has been practiced for centuries. Only a handful of salons and spas offer this exclusive service. Due to the lack of training programs available, many skin care professionals either do not know about threading or are unfamiliar with the process of threading. Enessa has taken the traditional method of threading a step further, by combining it with aromatherapy skin preparations for optimum results.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
By knotting the thread and creating a trap, hairs are caught and forced out by the root. The rapid back and forth movement, removes the hair in efficient manner. Depending upon the client's needs, hair can be removed individually or a few at the time.

BENEFITS OF THREADING VS. WAXING:
• Does not peel off a layer of skin.
• Hair does not grow back as fast.
• Skin does not get as red and irritated.
• Can pull out individual hairs.
• Hair does not need to be long, but just above the skin.
• Will not produce more hairs or make hairs stronger.
• Will pick up the finest hairs from the skin surface
• Leaves skin smooth

Threading is an acquired skill that one must learn from a trained professional. It is a craft that requires time and practice in order to perfect. Threading is an art form, creating clean lines with precision while refining the appearance of the face. Threading is the answer for those who are looking for a natural and beneficial technique of hair removal.
