I have seen posts about several people buying houses lately, so it made me wonder about the rest of us.

So share with us your housing situation with us ...

Still in an apartment until we can decide what we want to do - ie stay here, move to another province ..... lol buy now, buy later. Let's just say that we aren't good with making big decisions :)

DH and I have a house that we share with our two doggies. We have been here in the house for almost 6 years now (only had the dogs for a bit over one though); I am ready to move :p

We actually rent a house..We started renting it when we moved in together a little over a year ago. We've been house hunting for the last 4 months, but I'm extremly picky about school districts, and what not so it's taking much longer than we have ever expected. I want a house with at least 3 acres of land and even though we live in PA that much land with a nice home is hard to come by!! We do have one prospect. We do our first walk thru after the wedding!! If it suits we're going to give them an offer!!

We're renting a house, I don't know when we'll be buying. We're trying to decide if a mortgage would be worth the hassle, and I'm scared of owning a house and having it turn into a moneypit. At least living here we get things fixed and worked on for free.

We rent a house right now. We're trying to decide if we're going to stick around here or not, but wherever we move, we're going to be buying a house. It's just way too hard to find a rental that's not a dump and allows two big dogs and a cat.

we bought our home 1 month before we were officially engaged. he had the ring from the day they accepted the offer on the house. He was checking the ring out when he got the call we got the house- so he said it was fate and got my ring. Said he knew our life was finally coming together-

FH and I strongly believe that living together before marriage is not for us, so I am living with my parents, and since he is in college, he is living on campus.

(and even if we did want to live together it would be impossible... his parents would pull all financial support haha)

Yep, that's how we are!! The house we're in now is ridiculously expensive, and we know we're getting overcharged, but we can't exactly move anywhere!

Scott and I rented an apartment together after about a month of dating...About 2 years ago, we bought a house! Its a 3 bedroom/2 bath home with a big backyard for our 4 big dogs. We bought the house for the yard. We got to the point where we got tired of paying rent and we wanted to own something in the end so we figured a mortgage would work for us. I moved in with my dad and he with his grandmother to save money for a downpayment. add 2 more dogs on top of the 2 we already had and no one will rent to someone with 4 dogs and two fishtanks, haha. So we had to buy. We got into a motorcycle accident...it was more a car accident as we were stopped at a stop sign on the bike and we were hit by a cadillac...and then had a down payment for the house. We've been there just over 2 years now and the only thing I would change is my kitchen!

I am currently living at home. I've stayed at home with my dad for the last few years. He went right from my mom taking care of him to me taking care of him. I'm going to have to teach him how to pay his bills and use our dishwasher before I move out! Chad lives with his brother. When we wed, we'll be moving into an apartment together.

We both live at home. Robert's parents don't seem to care that he is at home, and it is really convenient for saving up money for wedding and moving out later.

As long as I was in school I was allowed to live at home rent free. Now that I am not in school, I am going to split the rent three ways with my mom and step-dad.

After we are married we are planning on living in an apartment for a year or two to pay off our other bills (car loans) before we buy a house.

We are currently living in a rent house that I absolutely have grown to hate. It's old, needs too much work, and is hard to keep cool. We have resulted to sleeping in the living room the last few days because our bedroom is too hot, and the air conditioner in the living room works the best.

I agreed to move there in March because of the land, price, and being able to keep our pets there. It's hard to find a rent house when you have a horse, dog, and two cats. We are also paying next to nothing a month for it. I just wish I would have known all the work it needed that we had to do, or it would not have gotten done.

However, the saving grace is we are saving money for a nice down payment on a house. Hopefully we will be in the market to buy a nice home next spring or summer. We can put half of what I make a month into a savings account because the rent is so cheap.

Mine is actually pretty weird. My friends and co-workers are even a little joky about it. I live with my parents, I live with my fiance, my fiance and I live with my parents, my fiance and I have currently bought property to build a house... did I lose anyone yet??? I stay with my fiance, my fiance stays with me and my parents.... Yea I'm dizzy too. It depends on when I work and when he works. Our days on and off, my class schedule....

We are living in an apartment. I was going to live at home until i got married, but mom had to file bankrupcy on the house, so out we had to go. I asked Steve if he would think about moving out with me ($6.75 won't pay rent anyway, lol!)And he thought about it for a while. Mom and i were apartment shopping and found the place we are in now. $500 a month, no extra charge for the cats, and mom lives right next door (mmm.. free internet). We moved out a little over a year. *^^*
Hopefully in the future we can buy a house (his mom REALLY wants us to, as well..) however, we can hardly make payments on this apartment (and all we have to pay is electric and the $500). Lets hope i can afford a house before i get old and stuff. O.o;

We share a small apartment, but we've shared smaller. When we were first together, FH and I shared a studio that was about 450 sq. ft. Later, we shared my studio (385 sq. ft.) before we finally moved away from downtown Seattle.

We moved into an apartment together at the end of June. It's a really nice place so we hope to stay here until we are able to buy a house. My mom was trying to convince us to buy a house right away but I don't think we are ready for that yet!

We've been staying with his mom. But we're in the process of buying a house. If this house falls through, we have a backup place to rent. FH's mom doesn't want us moving out though. Weird situation.

We live in a rental house. Before we were married, I lived here, and DH was with his parents. We've been in the rental house together for almost a year now and are hoping to buy a house within another year.

We'd been going out about six months, I was in college he was just starting college...when finances got difficult and I moved in with him at his Mom's house. She's a single mom, so it was just us, her and his sister, we pretty much had the downstairs of a two story house to ourself.
As much as I love my future in-laws though, it did get a bit difficult after about 9 months and she wanted him to experience more on his own. Since then we've apartment hopped a bit. Been in the same little one bedroom for over a year, but it's near downtown and campus so I can't complain.
I'd -love- to get a house someday but we're young, and need to worry about other things first :)

We've been staying with his mom.

I thought I was the only one! It's really quite embarrassing for me. I want out of here so badly, LOL. She's a single woman, too, but this house is small... too small for any kind of privacy! :whoa:

We moved into an apartment together (he lived with his parents and I was at school) when I got out of school, we lived there for a year. After a year we had two dogs in a small one bedroom apartment (small dogs but still) and was sick of renting already so we bought a house!!! Whats sad is our house is like 4 or 5 times the size our apartment was isonly 400 more a month, and the utility bills, gas, electric, are actually cheaper in the house.
