ok here's the deal. I've been trying to get a job as a receptionist at the hospital in my town for months. I've had interviews. I got along with the HR manager very very well. She didn't hire me for the first position that was open because she said it was too high volume and she didn't want me to fail.(i've been out of an office setting for 3 years) Then a part time job became available so i interviewed with the same lady for that position. Wel she called me on Friday and since she knew I was more interested in the full time job she kept me in mind for another clinic that is smaller and full time. So now I have to go to this clinic tomorrow morning and do a job shadow. (makes me feel like I'm in high school! hehe) Anyways I'm supposed to be there for an hour and ask questions and stuff and I guess I need advice on what kinds of questions to ask. Obviuosly, I've met the person who is essentioally going to hire me so I know some things about the company but what should I ask this person I'm job shadowing?????

Well, you really just ask questions about what you see and what the job involves. If the person you are "shadowing" can explain everything clearly, you may get a clear understanding of how to do the job and you may not even need to ask many questions at all.

Ask questions about how busy the clinic is, how many phone lines there are to answer and of course everything involved in the position. Most of which I'm sure you'll learn just by doing the shadowing. Although, depending on how busy it is, you may not get a chance to see everything involved. Hope this helps a little.

All I can say is GOOD LUCK!

I stink at the question part of interviews...mainly because I don't really have any questions. I think that's what keeps me from getting hired. I had an interview once and I sat there and talked with the lady about this and that for two hours...we had a great time together...never heard from them again...why, because I didn't ask questions I guess. So, I'm not the one to ask, but I will secretly be stealing answers :)

I guess it went well. I didn't want to ask too many technical questions in regards to their computer system and things like that. I guess I just figured I'll sit here, talk to these people, get to know some aspects of the job, and learn some pointers. In my opinion, if they want to hire me I'll have more of a formal training period where I'm sure I'll have TONS of questions. It all seems quite overwhelming. Yet, I haven't had a job that has posed a challenge to me in a long time, so I'm looking forward to the change...AND THE PAY!!!!! I heard back from the lady who will do the hiring and she said that the women there (there's only 3 people total working in the clinic) really enjoyed me. So......it all seems very promising. I'll know by Friday. Wish me luck ladies!!!!!!
