Nicole & Kevin ~ Enjoying Married Life

Finally gonna start my after wedding journal. Everything has been great so far. Our honeymoon was amazing. We flew to Las Vegas for 2 nights, rented a car and drove to yosemite for 3 nights, drove to San Francisco for 3 nights, LA for 2 and San Diego for 2 nights, then drove back to Vegas and flew home. I have lots of pics which I will get around to posting this week hopefully.

So I did something major last week. I put in my 2 weeks notice at work. I had to extend it a little cuz my boss was goin outta town so they needed me, but he's a good guy so that's no problem. August 22nd will officially be my last day. I've hated my job for awhile now and right now I'm so freaking happy being newly married and all this stuff, so it sucks when work is so miserable it takes away from that. The problem is I don't have anything lined up. I've worked at my place for 7 years and it's been along time since I've actively looked for a job. I'm kinda nervous, but kevin is really supportive so hopefully I will get lucky.

Another major thing is Kevins parents offered to sell us thier house for about 30,000 less than it's worth. It's really an offer we can't refuse. My dad thinks we should totally go for it, even offered to help with a down payment. The problem is Kevins brother kinda wants it too. He just can't afford it right now. I think it will be ok, I don't feel that it would really come between them, but ultimately someone will be disappointed which really sucks. We NEED to get out of this apartment. We have stayed here because it's a good neighborhood and rent is dirt cheap! I lived here by myself before cuz I could totally afford it on my own. But now we are BUSTING at the seams! We have so much stuff the place is always a mess and most of our wedding gifts are at my dad's house. I wanna use them! It would be useless to move into a new apt now cuz we'd be paying double. I just want to get outta here.

Congratulations on putting in your two weeks notice, that is a huge thing to do, if you are not happy you gotta fix it! That is fantastic!!!

As far as the house, I say go for it. If his brother cannot afford it and you guys have to get out of your apartment and you can buy it, go for it!!! Good luck!

For the house situation to think you should totally jump on the offer. I would take it in a heartbeat! You need the space and if you like the house then take it :) Whatever you do make sure it's both what you want though.

Tomorrow is our 1 month anniversary aww...

I had an interview last monday. The guy pretty much told me I had it as long as the girl who was to interview me my 2nd time liked me. He told me she would call me BY last thursday. I never heard anything so I called on friday and left a message. Never heard anything, so I called back today and the guy who interviewed me wasn't there, they told me to call after 3 pm. So I call and he's like "I just passed your application to Bruce, he should be calling within a few days". I'm like wow thanks. I don't understand how he went from being so nice and seeming so interested to sounding like he couldn't care less. Plus it went from interviewing with a "she" to Bruce? I didn't want to seem pushy by calling but he told me BY last thursday, and I didn't wanna seem uninterested. Maybe I shouldn't have called. Hearing him be all short like that was really, really discouraging....:sob:

Ha! I just realized I never got around to posting honeymoon pics. I will at some point. I haven't printed them or shown anyone or anything. I'm way behind. So 2 updates!
I started my new job on Monday. So far so good. I'm training at another store an hour away so the drive sucks but I carpool with another woman training too so at least I have someone to talk to. Anyway I think when our store opens and everythings ready to go I will really enjoy it. Hope so anyway.
Secondly, I have officially decided to trash my dress. Ever since I saw the thread on here I've been obsessed. I found out they are doin a trash bash in NYC this weekend. I could've gone (i asked a photog from here who's going) but it was way too short of notice. So I'm gonna set somethin up for next month. I really wanna wear my dress again. I'm not gonna trash it too bad. I'd like to be able to get it back to decent condition. That's about it lately. Nothin too exciting.

I really want to ride a horse in my dress or roll in the sand in the ocean.. But then I thought, well I wanted Nick to be in the pictures and he does not have his tux to trash.. So who knows what i am going to do... It will probably hang in my closet forever. Can't awit to see your dress pictures and congrats on starting the new job!

Thank you! Yeah it's the job I wanted. The house situation is the same but we can't really do anything cuz his parents are still there. I don't know how much they've been looking around for somethin else. So basically we are just waiting.

Married life is good so far. Actually right now kev is doing the dishes :grinhappy:. I'm just tired today but I gotta get up and clean and do laundry. yucky.

Yeah I can't wait to do mine. In some of the pics the girls have a bouquet so I'm gonna make one this weekend. And I can pick any colors cuz I don't have anything to have to match. :D I definately want kevin in some pics too, I think he's just gonna wear black pants and a white button down shirt. In most of the TTD pics I've seen the groom is wearing whatever. You should do it. I saw some where the girl had your exact dress. Very pretty!

I'm sitting here drinking a glass of wine and I just read through my whole wedding journal. It seems like a lifetime ago. It toally made me feel so wonderful, all of your nice comments and the support I got all the way throughout my planning journey.

I made Kevin dinner tonight. We usually cook together but I had the day off and wanted to make something really special. So I made bacon wrapped beef tenderloins served on a bed of cooked greens with proscuitto. And I cut corn off the cob to serve with it. I was worried but it came out soo good. It was part of what our wedding dinner was so it was kind of special to us. I had him grab some wine on the way home and voila here I am now, cuz he's nappin on the couch. That's a sure sign it was a good meal. In alittle while I'll wake him up for dessert. I'm making peaches sauteed with some butter and sugar and cinnamon over vanilla ice cream. Hell yeah.

The wierdest thing happened a few days ago. My ex friend who used to be with Kevin, and I havent talked to in just over 3 yrs sent me a myspace message. (Background info) She had been with kev on and off for a few yrs, and being her best friend we went alot. She was never faithful and she was pretty out of control at that time. Kev and I found eachother and eventually she saw us kiss at a concert. It was July 30th 2004 the last time we ever spoke. Well, she said she was happy for us and she saw a wedding pic and I looked beautiful yada yada. So I wrote back. In feb she had a new baby so I congratulated her and we've been writing back and forth since. She has totally turned her life around and is really happy, and I'm glad that in the end it worked out for all of us. I don't know where our relationship will end up, but I'm good now just knowing she's well. So that was a big thing for me.

My new job is awesome. I have some wicked cool co-workers who just make me laugh. and I'm really enjoying myself so far. We are only setting up the store now, I haven't even learned framing yet, but it's really exciting.

I signed up for a photoshop class on Monday nights for 6 weeks. It starts this coming Monday and I got the last spot, cuz I put off registering for so long. That should be fun. Expect me to be sharing cool stuff.

I will be doing a trash the dress shoot end of this month or the beginning of next. Me and the photog are in the process of setting an exact date and time. I will be doing it in downtown syracuse at which somepoint I'll end up outside of the everson where we had our reception. If the leaves happen to be at peak color though I will make my way into the woods.

And now finally after what seems like years and has actually been months!! I have HONEYMOON PICTURES!!!!!!!! I only have a few right now but I'm working on them.

We rented a car in Vegas to drive to Yosemite. Our first stop for gas was this place. It was a gas station, store, restaurant, bar, and brothel all in one.

That was very cool. It was like 120 degrees. Later that night when we ended up in the mountains at yosemite it was about 40 degrees and green. Talk about extremes........

I just read through your journal. Congrats on finding a job you really like. That seems to be pretty diffifult. I am planning on leaving my current job just before we get married and finding a new job after we move in wherever we move, which will probably be up in Santa Clara. I havent been on so much lately and its soooo hard to catch up around here. I just wanted to tell ya'll that I did a trash the dress session yesterday. It was so much FUN! My dress isn't even that dirty. I think I'm gonna have it cleaned and then donate it. I just would rather see someone else get joy out of it then have it sit in my closet for years. it will be hard to part with so I am glad I got one more good use out of it.

We started out downtown. I was really nervous at first. My photographer was wicked cool though. I had to get in some really dirty places, we spent almost an hour in one alley. After 2 and 1/2 hrs we went into the clinton square fountain. It was like 80 degrees yesterday and after running around in my gown it was so refreshing. It was the most fun I've had in awhile. It was like being a kid again running and splashing in that fountain. I drew a small crowd of people who must've thought we were absolutely crazy! One guy whipped his video camera out. Another guy kept asking how much my dress cost. It was a blast! i HIGHLY recommend doing this. It's just such a fun way to get great pics and you can get as dirty or stay as clean as you want. Fun Fun!!! :whoohoo:

my trash the dress pics are done. I saw them online but im gonna wait till i get the cd to post them.

in the meantime. Kev's gramps died, which was really sad ofcourse. he was creamated and they are having a memorial service on nov. 10th so his out of town family can come in. His grandmother has this awesome tradition where she sends out newsletters to the family every month. She keeps everyone up to date on whats going on with everyone. She has 6 children and like 21 grandkids so it's really nice. she always includes little quotes or poems and usually some comics. We just got the one where she wrote about him passing and it was just so sad. It was 2 weeks before thier 65th wedding anniversary that they had planned a dinner for for all the family and friends. I'm greateful that they were able to make it to our wedding.

Other than that it's been life as usual. Work is going well and everything else is fine. I need to get around here more. It's near impossible to keep up with what everyone is doing, if u dont stop by at least once a day.

Last weekend we discussed buying the in-laws house with them. His brother moved out and has an apartment and a new baby so it ours!! all ours!! They want to move in May!! I was hoping they would decide to move before summer! I couldnt stand another year in this tiny place. I only let my closest friends over because It's so overstuffed and messy in our apt. I can't wait to have space! and decorate! and entertain! and have more than a foot of counter space! and have parties! and have a yard! and have a pool! and have a huge closet! and have more than 1 bathroom!! I'm pretty excited, can ya tell? lol.

I will try to remember to post some pics of the rest of our honeymoon. It's only been like 7 months now right? Yeah I'm the master procrastinator.

You sound like you are a great cook, and I'm definitely going to try your peach desert! And I'm so jealous that you got to trash the dress!!! I think it would be fun for me and DH to do that for our 1 year (if I can still fit into mine!) and see how much, if any, we've changed.

My journal is so pathetic. lol. I never write anything anymore. And I'm still lazy on the honeymoon pics, my family has only seen a very few. Plus now I can't find my camera charger and I dont wanna take my sd card to a drugstore lab to be put on cd cuz I'm afraid it will be poor resolution. I'll have to take it somewhere though.
On to the good news.
We were talking about buying Kev's parent house. Then we were thinking about moving. Across the country. We decided to go check it out but I decided to call it off because I'm not ready to leave what family I have left. My 1 brother and 1 sister and thier kids are in different states. I have one sis left here and my dad. My mom died 12 years ago and she was pretty much the glue that held us all together. I havent even talked to my bro since the wedding. So I know my dad was pretty sad when he moved 2 years ago because he used to babysit the kids and my brother lived right down the street from my dad and he liked to help him work on the house and stuff. It's not the only reason to stay here but it's the biggest part.
on to the good news for real now.
So once we decided not to move out of state i finally made Kev go to the bank to see if he could be approved to buy his parents house.
well he got a letter on Saturday! He is! so now we just gotta draw up a thing with a lawyer and thats that. Well i'm sure it will be more complicated but....The house is only 5 minutes from where we live now. It's on a nice street, in a nice neighborhood. All the houses there were built in 1985 so it's in good shape, needs some work but nothing major. His parents have lived there since it was built and took care of it. It's appraised at $129,000 but they are selling it to us for $98,000! we cant beat that deal. with taxes and insurance our payment will be $1050 which isnt bad. too bad our taxes are $400 of that!
