I tried on this dress by Alfred Angelo that had BEAUTIFUL colorful flowers all over it. It may be more fancy (and more pricey) than you're looking for...but I thought it was nice. Lemme see if I can find a link.

Ok, I guess they don't make that dress anymore. But I remember telling you about the dress I saw that was really beautiful with the sash tied around the waste. I found a picture that resembled the dress (without the sash) so you have an idea of what I was talking about.

I just thought it was really beautiful, in a simple and classic kind of way. It was that kind of dress and she had a wide teal colored sash tied around her waist. No big bow or anything (I HATE that!) just a simple knot in the back with it trailing down her back. Not sure if this is what you're looking for. And I know I have seen some more colorful gowns anyways. Have you looked at a bridal shop in their prom dress type section. I found one at my bridal salon the other day that was very simple white underdress with a opaque blue overlay and some pink in it. It was really pretty and about 1/4 the price of my wedding dress. Maybe you could look into something like that.

Glad i could help a little. I am searching gowns at the moment. Found some really nice ones. Out of my price range but if I can get an idea of what I am looking for and take a couple of pictures with me it might help.

Here it is! Not a great picture, but I'm using the smaller one as our unity candle holder:
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d123/usahgrad/unitycandle.gif
The parents' candles are pink pillars while ours is a white pillar with teeny tiny beads all over it so it kind of sparkles. It was on sale as a christmas item. We're changing the unity candle ceremony a bit. Jason and I will be lighting tapers off of the pillars that the parents light to light ours. It makes more sense to me that way.

It definitely will help you to bring pics with you. Do you have the possibility of having someone make your gown for you? That could be a good way to go...I know it's a LOT cheaper!

I guess I was lucky in that respect. My FMiL and FSiL both sort of sew and I have always wanted to learn, so we picked a very simple pattern and we're making the bm dresses. It's a necessity to them considering all three of Jason's nieces are in the wedding. It would be TOO expensive to do it any other way.

Having your dress made is not always cheaper ... with the cost of materials and labor, in some cases it can be just as much as buying at a bridal shop. But if you have a simple style in mind and/or you know someone that might be the best way to go.
Best wishes,

Those centerpieces are AWESOME!
My problem is that I already have my centerpieces figured out...it's everything else! I don't have someone decorating the hall for me, I have to decorate it myself. And it's a community hall, so it DEFINITELY needs some decorating...Becky! Where are ya when I need ya?!?!:bbmrgreen:
