I found out today that tomorrow is my FH's last day at work. After eight years of service to this company, they felt enough loyalty to tell him on December 29 that the company was going to close at the end of the year. Fortunately, with the new job I have, we won't be too tight, but there are going to have to be some cutbacks. A few of the plans I had are going by the wayside...but that's life.

Think of us in your prayers...I just keep hoping he'll find something really soon and that they won't mind him taking time off for the wedding.

Sorry to hear that Kelli! This happened to my dad a while back ... he worked for this company for as long as I can remember and then one day they said they were closing. Something like this happened to a friend of mine too ... after working for a shoe store for like 5 yrs then went in to work one day and said that they were closing. Luckily in that case she was able to transfer to another location. Actually, now that I think about it, I have heard of this kind of thing happening alot.

Well, I hope it all works out for the best for you guys and hope he finds a better job soon.

Best wishes,

~ WebLady :)

It will all work out for you I am sure. And if he tells the people when he applies for a job that he has a wedding planned and he needs to have the week off I am sure they will be glad to give it to him. Most places are kind enough to abide by somethign like this when it is set and the dates can't be changed. I am looking for a new job at the moment and this is my one request when I go for any interview. I know where I work right now if you have plans made when you are hired the have no problem with making it available to you. Good luck you will be in my thoughts a prays.

Kelli, I am so sorry that this is happening to you so close to your wedding. But, I am sure with 8 years of experience your FH will not have too hard of a time finding something else. It will all work out just fine, I'm sure. Good luck to you both.

Kelli

You will make it through it!! You are a strong woman, I can tell!! When I was about ten, my dad got layed off from work right before Christmas, it was very hard, but we pulled together and pulled through it! You will be in my thoughts!

I am sure he won't have any problem finding another job. What line of work is he in? It is pretty bad that some companies would do this. I understand that they need to close but you would think they would give at least 90 days notice. We will all be thinking of you both.:goodluck:

Yeah, I was talking to my DH about this and he said that something like this happened to a friend of his once too. He said the guy worked at this place for like 15 yrs then one day he went to work and the doors were locked with a sign that read they were closed for business. You would think that the company would have some warning about this kind of thing, so why wouldn't they tell people?! I guess they were afraid the people wouldn't work as hard if they knew they wouldn't have a job for much longer. But at least they could be looking for another job.

Well, this is one of the reasons my husband and I work for ourselves. You know, when I was a wedding photographer I had an assistant that worked part time with me ... I told him well in advance that I was quiting so that he could find another part time job.

Anyway, I wish you guys all the best Kelli :) My thoughts and prayer are with you.
