My friend Shannon did manage to snap some pics of a couple of the gowns I tried on the other day (at that horrific shop!)…. Sorry they’re so dark, but it was a camera phone (I forgot to take my camera with me).

Just browsing….

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b247/neebelung/Trying%20on%20gowns/Justlooking.jpg

The first is Alfred Angelo 1952. I’d heard mixed reviews about AA gowns (about their quality, etc…) but I was impressed with this one. VERY lightweight, and actually comfortable.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b247/neebelung/Trying%20on%20gowns/AlfredAngelo1952.jpg

Here’s the full shot (you can see my friend Misty hiding behind me, since the gown fit me PERFECTLY…. Till it got to the boobs. LOL! So she was holding it ‘closed’ for me.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b247/neebelung/Trying%20on%20gowns/AlfredAngelo1952full.jpg

And detail of the bodice…(this shows how well it fit through the waist…. And hopeless at the chest)

AAAAAAHHHH… I feel like I’m coming through the birth canal!! Where does this thing end!! (I’m in there… somewhere….)

Next was the Maggie Sottero JSM1061. This one would fit a hell of a lot better if I had a bra on… LOL….

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b247/neebelung/Trying%20on%20gowns/MaggieSotteroJSM1061.jpg

And I love the detail at the straps…

The first one is just gorgeous. The second one is very pretty but on you I think the first one looks much better... any more?? :D

Ahhh..You are so pretty!! I like both the dresses you tried on very pretty! I love the straps on the Maggie gown...I love Maggie gowns! Ofcourse I'm a little biased when it comes to that designer since my dress is a maggie gown too!

I'm torn... I love the detailing on the second one, but wonder if it's "too much" for the beachy/tropical theme of our wedding... and the first one made me feel skinniner. LOL

Nope, that's all of em (there's more pics, but of the same dresses)...

 Awww, thank you!

I do LOVE the fabric and detailing of the Maggie gowns... I'm just still so torn... I don't think I've found "the" gown yet.

I do think the first dress is very flattering and is more fitting with your theme. Have you tried on any halter style dresses?? I think that would also be a flattering cut for you! Keep looking sweety when you find the one you know it!

Halter top might make you look larger in the breast area and may also make you look broader in the shoulders.

i think the 2 one is really unique and would be great for a beach wedding. But i like the first one looks soooo good on you!!! GOsh i can't make decisions!

I think it depends on the cut of the halter..With my dress its a halter cut and it actually makes my chest look like I'm sporting a nice c cup when I'm normally a d and I also have broad shoulders maybe I'm wrong but I think it makes my shoulder look less broad...Anyhow it's worth a try!! If anything you could rule it out!! I tried on all different styles and cuts to narrow done what exactly is more flattering and what isn't.

Thanks ladies... :)

I haven't actually found any halter styles I like, but in general, I love halter tops... great support, but still a little sexy. ;) If I find any I like, though, I'll definitely give it a shot!

Another thought too...Not everyone can pull off a strapless dress..The good thing is, is you can and there are tons of strapless dresses out there!!

As horrific as your experience in that store was, at least they let you take pictures. NONE of the stores here allow that at all :(

They look great, BTW, especially the 1st one.

WHAT they don't let you take pictures!!!!!!!? I have never heard of that!!

When i tried on my dress,it was the first one, i just "KNEW" it was the one bc it fit so perfectly. But i felt i needed to go to other places and try on a few just to make sure.

I LOVE the first one, that is one i was going to get as well. I didn't, but it was beautiful and it looks amazing on you! Alfred Angelo is my favorite dress designer!! Gorgeous!

I'm getting the impression that it's standard in France to not be allowed to take pictures. I don't know why, but several of my friends have had similar experiences. The problem with this is after awhile you can idealize a dress and turn down a better one because you remembered the other one looking better... :(

:( WoW, that just plain ol sucks! I agree, as many gowns as we potentially end up trying on, and as many claims of "OH, that's PERFECT on you!" from the Bridal consultants, it's easier to be able to look back at what you've tried on, compare favorites, and remember specific details if you've got pictures!

TOns of places in California will not let you take pics either! There are even some places that cut out ALL of the tags and will not tell you who makes the dress.

I think they are afraid that you will go somewhere else or get it on the internet...OH WAIT I DID THAT :)))) Saved a BUNCH of $$$$$$$$!!!!

I love the Maggie Sottero on you, you look so pretty in it. Plus, I love the straps. Personally I don't like strapless dresses. I have been to so many weddings where I see the brides constantly pulling up their stapless dresses ... not very flattering.

Thank you. :)

Yeah my mom made that point about strapless gowns, and to make sure it's got enough structure in it that it'll stay up on it's own, so I'll have to keep that in mind as I keep shopping... it's hard to tell if I'll be "tugging" when I'm just trying it on for a few minutes.... LOL

Another Maggie gown that is GORGEOUS is the Maggie Sottero "Karen" gown. I tried a few on and once i had this one on i knew this was it for me. Its GORGEOUS! Its not something i would have picked off the rack but when i put it on i didnt want to take it off lol If you find it near you, try it on. Its 400 times better on than on the rack. GOOD LUCK!!!

I really like both dresses, too. I tried on something very similar to the first one, but for some reason I didn't get it. Couldn't tell you why though lol! I didn't think I would like straps like the 2nd one, but the more I see it on you the more I like it! It is very unique and fits you really well.

BTW-I never tried on a dress and just knew it was the one. I bought the first one I tried on but only after like 40 more dresses b/c I kept comparing them all to my dress so I figured it must be the one lol! Keep searching, you'll find one!

The first one looks great on you, and it's beautiful, but I've seen alot of gowns very similar to it. The second one, the Maggie is drop dead gorgeous and VERY unique! You are a beautiful girl though and will look great in whatever you choose. Happy shopping!

I love the detailing of the second dress too but both of them are lovely. Just curious .... have you asked anyone at any of the shops to pull out a dress that they think would fit the beach theme & flatter you? It might be interesting to see what style/cut they pick.

TOns of places in California will not let you take pics either! There are even some places that cut out ALL of the tags and will not tell you who makes the dress.

I think they are afraid that you will go somewhere else or get it on the internet...

I have an idea that it also might be to deter anyone from taking the pic to a dressmaker and having it made for less. I don't imagine that the dress designers like seeing knock offs of their designs either.

That's my favorite thing about that site... I mean, ANY gown will look amazing on a 19 year old, size 0 model, but to see the gown on a couple of REAL women on their very real wedding day gives a much better idea of how the gowns actually look and fit.

Yes, two of the three shops I've been to did that. Actually, my first impromptu gown shopping experience taught me a lot about what to look for in terms of styling cues & details (i.e. to hide flaws... lol).

This last shop, however, they were just so blasted un-helpful, she didn't offer to try to pick out anything, nor did they have anything really that I'd picked out (in mags), so I just kinda winged it. lol

Thank you :) Thats the dress i actually ordered. It looks great on all sizes. When i was in the dress shop with my dress on a few weeks ago, this other girl looked at me and said "i want to try on THAT dress!" lol She was a bigger girl than i and she still looked stunning! Im very petite..only 4'10 and alot of the other dresses didnt look right on me. Im telling you, this dress does wonders for all sizes. Try it on and take a pic i would LOVE to see what you look like in it. :) And i agree with the other girl, you are a very pretty girl and i bet you will look great in anything. :) Good Luck again! :)

I love both of the dresses, you look so pretty. I think like some of the other girls said if you don't get the feeling then its not the right one. I would probably get a dress with a strap so I wouldn't have to constantly be pulling up my dress.
