I am looking for ideas re: what to give or what to do on our first anniversary.

I have already bought this (with our names) for DH. I was also thinking about booking us on cruise from Montreal to Quebec City and back - http://www.evasionplus.com/en/croisieres/croisieres-montreal-quebec.php

Is it a case of great minds think alike or everyone does it? LOL

Still not sure that I want to do this .... I have set myself into the "top the last thing" trap. LOL

No matter what I do, or buy, I just want it to be a little more special than the last thing KWIM?

If you continue on this trail you're gonna be dirt poor by your 10th wedding anniversary...

I think the cruise sounds wonderful!!!

"more special" doesn't have to mean more expensive .... but just something which is more personal, more thought behind it, more of a surprise?????

Actually, the cruise isn't all that expensive but .... lol but we would have to find a hotel in Quebec city because the return trip isn't until the next day.

For us it all depends on our budget; he got me an opal ring and I got him some tech toy he wanted at the time, as well as made him a soda/sparkling apple juice rack; which just recently fell apart. I also have done what I call the 12 days of anniversery. the 12 day's leading up to our anniversery I get 11 small gifts and write something cute or romantic on it. For a while my husband liked a soda called Crush; so I bought him a 2 liter of it and worte Here is a crush for the one I have a crush on, or something like that. I got a box of his fave candy's and because your so sweet here's a sweet treat for you. Then I made a nice romantic dinner.

I'm sorry...I was just kidding with this statement of being dirt poor..I should have said I was just joking!

What about a secluded dinner/picnic?? For our honeymoon we are staying in Myrtle Beach. I called about two weeks ago to see if we can arrange a private beach dinner. The hotel is doing it for dirt cheap too! We'll get to dine on the beach instead of going to a crowded restaurant! I'm going to surprise FH with it...Perhaps this is something you could arrange at one of the ports or something..Even if you can't do it on the cruise just packing a picnic basket and surprising your hubby with someplace romantic and having a little picnic to do something a little different for once!!

Hmmmmmmm Hugh proposed to me on "the Mountain" (Montreal's look out point), where he had also asked me to go steady in 1978 (LOL and I said no). I wonder if I can find a company that would cater a picnic up there. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm I am liking the idea. It's romantic and it would have some meaning if we dined out on the mountain. Hmmmm now, how do I control the weather?????

I don't think it's possible while on the cruise. It's not that kind of cruise - it's a 4 hour ride up the St. Lawrence river. Still, maybe I can investigate a spa type hotel, that offers that for the overnight stay if I go that route.

Yeah weather is always an issue to control...Perhaps since it's just a dinner for two a weeks notice may be enough..Even though they could forcast sunny weather for days and boom out of no where a rain cloud rolls on in...
