We don't really fight, we have discussions...

The one and only time he has ever yelled at me (I tend to yell quite a bit more than he does, but it's not a fight in our opinion unless you're both yelling) was over the phone. When I lived in Texas I had a friend who I had been intimate once with and my FH didn't like the idea of me being around him...not even in a study group. So I was screaming at him because I thought it was unreasonable and he screamed at me for screaming at him. It scared me silly! I never want to hear him yell again. Last time we could have had a problem, I sat down and said we needed to talk about things and we talked it out. I guess that's part of what I like so much about him. He's kind of the ying to my yang...he helps calm me down so that I don't blow things way out of proportion and cause really big fights...because, believe you me, I can REALLY cause some big fights! :bbmrgreen:

I have to agree with Kelli ... my DH and I don't really fight, we have discussions. Granted, there have been a few of these 'discussions' that have gotten a little 'heated' and/or made me cry. (I can't remember why though)

I don't think we had a real disagreement until a couple of years in our relationship. But when we disagree we talk it out and he usually ends up agreeing with me (or he pretends to) or we will agree to disagree. Even in our 'arguments' we don't yell and fight about it. (boy, my ex and I had some yelling matches ) But we never go to bed angry and I have never made him sleep on the couch or anything ... so it is all good.

Our one year wedding anniversary is in 3 months and 5 days :D

I agree with you ladies. My FH and I don't have big fights. I have never really seen him really mad about anything. We had disagreements that we just sit and talk about. Of course, like you Kelli, I can get upset kinda easily and I have a tendance to let my voice get a little loud (lol.) But Steve calms me down right away and we talk it out.

Brian and I have gotten into couple of doozies. We are both stubborn and hardheaded and BOTH have to have the last word. Usually he says what he has to say, I say what I have to say and we just go on about our business. We call them our "venting sessions". The only problem that I had, was when Brian was mad about something and wanted to vent to me, it would sound like he was blaming me for whatever was wrong, even if it had NOTHING to do with me. We talked about it and I can tell now if hes b****ing AT me or TO me.

Nicholas and I don't fight. We have argued a couple of times and mostly it is jsut one or both of us being stressed out or just being in an agravated mood. We have not actually fought a big one yet. I am sure we will one day but it is nothing to worry about. I like the song by Terri clark ( i think it was her ) I just want to be Mad for Awhile. He has listened to it and said I should listen to this huh? lol I like the lyrics. And the new one by Gretchin Wilson I Don't Feel Like Loving You Today.

Definitely Terry Clark...Jo Dee Messina sings My Give A ****'s Busted (also another goodie). Have you seen the video for I Just Want to Be Mad for awhile? It's SO FUNNY! She just leaves him and goes out joy riding in his nice convertible and he's chilling with the valet guy until she comes back. I can't imagine ever doing that...but it was funny anyways.

Brian is a little more "flexible" in his music choices than I am. I grew up on Country music and if I have a choice, Country it is. Brian likes Country too, but he will listen to just about EVERYTHING! His CD collection is :bbeek: . But what can I expect? Hes a country boy raised in the city.

It's the opposite way around for my hubby and I....he only listens to country and while I love country I don't mind listening to other things every now and again. When he gets into my truck and I'm listening to NoDoubt or Matthew Good or something he always says "Oh god, not this **** again!" Lmao...Thats what I love about him!! However he is kinda startin' to come around with Matthew Good but he still doesn't like Metallica or Eminem like I do!! Lmao!! At least we agree to disagree on our tastes in music!

Country is something I just started to like when I moved here. I grew up hating country. I moved here and it's all anyone listens too, and now I sing right along with it haveing a ball!

Yeah, Eminem's music is a bit 'angry' but I guess it is better to vent your anger and frustrations that way rather than snapping and actually do some of the things he sings about.

I do secretly (well, I guess the secret is out now) find mild entertainment in some of his music  but I don't own any of his CD's and I don't think I would buy any either. As I mentioned before, it is just not the kind of music I enjoy on a regular basis ;)

Most would say I am crazy, but I own three of Eminem's c.d.s. Some of the things he sings about, if you really listen to it, some of it is pretty deep. I get alot of laughs from his music though too. People say how can you listen to that **** about killing people like his ex-wife and his mom...he is just rapping about his life...and anyhow if he hated his ex-wife that much, he wouldn't be getting remarried to her again...lmao.

Ok...I dont think you crazy either, but, I CANNOT support a loser who would put ideas amd notions in a young persons mind..

Please don't hate me for saying this but ... I think that too many people blame music and TV for the bad things kids do. When it usually has more to do with the parents and the environment the kids grow up in that influences them more and that makes them look to music and TV for 'guidance' when they don't have it anywhere else. If you look at most "Bad kids" you will see common traits in their life ... and if you ask the adults that were former "Bad kids" you will usually see the same.

The way I see it, I think if you are a strong, stable minded person that has been raised in a loving, stable environment and taught right from wrong and such then music and TV won't influence your life or your decisions ... it is just a way for the artist to express themselves and for the listener to be entertained and/or relate to. It is not telling kids or people for that matter, how to be or how to live.

I think the people that follow a certain life style or do things just because of what they see and/or hear are very week minded people IMO. I am not a 'follower' I do what I feel is right and what I want to do, not what others say I 'should' or what might be 'cool' ( I am cool all by myself ;))

Ok, I don't know what made me go on about this, I guess I better stop now before someone gets out with the chair on me :chair: I hope it doesn't come to that (or worse) we have talked about more touchy things than this and not had any problems. I hope I have not offended or upset anyone ... I love and respect all of you ladies :D

Best wishes,

I agree with you WebLady.......too many people want to lay the blame for their mess-ups and mistakes on anything and everything but where the blame should really go.....themselves. Not EVERYONE that comes from an abusive background will be abusive, but thats where the blame get places the most. Gun violence gets blamed on tv and video games. They say the tv shows have too much violence in them. Hello? Has anybody been watching the news lately? Thats worse than any tv show Ive been watching!!! I understand that some people really do have "medical" problems that cause them to do certain things, but the majority doesnt but use that excuse anyway to keep from having to take responsibilty for their actions.

Ok i agree w/ u guys..we do have our own will-power, but also our young generation has been brainwashed into thinkin that gang violence, domestic violence and may other types are just a "phase" in life..It is not we have been brain washed into thinkin its ok..and a huge part of it had to do w/ our media entertainment!1 The other large factor is our not bein able to destinguish between fiction and reality

Some of this may be true but, why do you think this kind of thing is in the media? Because people flock to it! Controversy sells ... If no one cared it would go away. No violence is not "OK" but it is a part of life ... and like Cindy said, it is all over the news and no one complains about that.

Yes, there are people that have trouble distinguishing between fiction, make believe, entertainment and reality. But those people are the ones with the bigger problems and they need help. If you are so easily swayed by watching a movie or playing a video game or listening to a song on the radio, then you have a problem. And as for this "young and impressionable kids", these things have ratings for a reason ...

The way I see it, there will always be something that we don't agree with in life ... music, TV and more, but no matter what it is, I think that it is all in how we deal with it and how we let it affect our lives that makes the difference.

If you don't like it, then don't watch, don't listen, don't buy ... teach your children a better way. Don't let outside influences and 'lower forces' affect who you are or how you act.

I am with you Weblady. I am SO sick of people not taking responsibility for their actions. We are in an age when you can blame EVERYTHING on someone or something else. I studied a trial that happened a couple of years ago in which a song was played on the part of the defense because what this guy did to this girl (both high-school aged) was what was described in the song. Why do people do it that way? Because they can blame it on the song and get away with it.

It takes an insane person to comitt a murder,,I have studied too many cases..Ex. The lady that l\killed her husband w/ a hatchet..He was driven to insanity...How? The other cause of irrational violence..Domestic abuse..I would plea insanity too..I would be insane to comitt any act of murderor manslaughter...

I'm right along with you there!! The only other thing that erks me is when mothers kill their children!! I don't know why or where this comes from. I mean obviousily you have to be mentally ill to do something so HORRIABLE to your own flesh and blood, but still!! It hurts me beyond belief because we are suffering from infertility issues, and I can never understand why you would want to kill your own children! This is the only time I take the "mentally ill" thing and say, yes it is probably true, because only a mentally ill monster can do such horriable things to innocent children!!

But there's a difference between insanity and temporary insanity and too many people get away with temporary insanity pleas that put them into therapy for a few years. I'll admit there are some insane people out there who do insane things (I work in a behavioral health clinic...I've met some of those people), but these are totally sane people who know what they're doing is wrong but plea temporary insanity because they lost their cool and killed someone. That's wrong and that's part of the problem with the society today.

Hey, don't worry about the debate...sometimes it's fun to get a little heated. Besides, you didn't really start it. And it wasn't entirely about Eminem...as for the spelling, I grew up not too far from where he grew up, that's why I know it. I'm not a big fan of his and I HATED him awhile ago. But every now and then, I need some angry music just to vent to and he helps. I think that entertainment breeds off of people's emotions. It's nice to have angry music every once in awhile, just as long as people realize it's not a good reason to go out and kill someone. :)

As far as music goes though, for the most part, I listen to country. Most of my collection is country. On my computer I have enough country music to listen to it straight for three and a half days and not hear a repeated song. I like that you can understand what they're saying and the way they put stuff in their songs seems to match up so perfectly with how I feel about things. If you've heard it, "Something to Be Proud Of" by Montgomery Gentry, is one of my favorite songs because it reminds me of my FH. Of course, as far as angry songs go, Shelly Fairchild's "You Don't Lie Here Anymore" and Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats," those are some good mad songs. Lol.

Sorry, I kind of rambled...:bbmrgreen:

Hey, don't worry about the debate...sometimes it's fun to get a little heated. Besides, you didn't really start it. We don't really fight, we have discussions...

I wish I could say the same thing....humm we've fought so much, I don't even remember what the first one was about! LOL! I actually think our first fight was after homecoming or Sadie Hawkins dance or something like that because I didn't like how he was behaving....LOL! I'm the type of person that when I get upset I just need to freak out, yell a bunch and then its out of my system and we move on....my FH got used to that one and he just sits there and lets me vent and 5 minutes later asks if everything is ok.....it usually is! LOL!

Eric and I don't fight either, we have discussions.

The worst "fight" we had was me blowing up over wedding stress and sulling up and not talking for 2-3 hours, looking back if I had done what he said and quit stressing it would have never come to that!

The funniest thing was during deer season last year! We don't live together and since he works 2nd shift the only time we see eachother is when he isn't at work. Well deer season started and at first it was fun but then it got cold, and rained and day after day (on the weekends) there we were in the tree stand waiting for Bambi's Daddy to walk out (which never happened). The last weekend of deer season I asked him not to go, he told me he was going, I got mad becasue I could either go with him or stay at the house with his mom so I got pissed off and went with him...I threw my hunting clothes on (cussing the whole time) grabbed the gear (he wouldn't let me carry the gun) so that pissed me off and out the door we went, now when you hunt you have to be quiet going in...I stomped and sighed until we got to the stand then made a terrible racket climbing up and continued to rattle things, rustle potatoe chip bags, open cans of cokes (you know the sounds those make when shook good) and pop bubble gum...anything I could to scare the deer away...it DIDN't work...out walked a HUGE buck and I exclaimed "OH LOOK ERIC A DEER, SHOOT HIM! HA HA HA, the deer ran off and Eric got mad...we talked and then we laughed so hard we cried...I may not get to go this year though LOL! I'll let ya'll know!
