I can finally start my After Wedding Journal! We got married Saturday July 7, 2007, left for our honeymoon in Minnesota on Monday July 9, and returned home yesterday July 13. We went to the Mall of America, which I've been to 3 times now. It was Chris' first time there. We left a day early to come home because we ran out of money to spend, haha, and didn't really want to do anything else.

So last night my sister spent the night with us at our apartment, and my parents, grandpa, and aunt came over this afternoon to have supper. So it was kind of our first get-together as a married couple! It was pretty fun. Chris made steaks, pork chops marinated in Italian dressing that my mom provided, and hamburgers on the grill. My mom also brought green beans. So we ate that along with a fruit salad, lettuce salad, and had the rest of our wedding sheet cakes and French Silk pie for dessert.

It was pretty yummy! Then they left, and we have been trying to put things away and get organized. We still have to finish thank-you cards and get those sent off.

So today Chris' parents came over and we ate lunch after church. Then when they left, I put some more wedding pics up online. We did like 45 thank-yous and still have a bunch to write and send out. We went swimming tonight in the apartment pool, and sat in the hot tub...it was actually pretty warm this time! A couple days ago it wasn't very warm. Right now I'm trying to get more pics up but it takes forever to load them from Picaso to Photobucket.

Tomorrow morning we have to take Chris' truck to get the transmission checked again. He had to have it replaced a couple years ago because some lady rear ended him while he was in park. He thinks it might have to be replaced or worked on again. I hope not because he said if its going to be another $1000, he will probably just try to sell it as is because we can't afford $1000+ payment. Then we will have to work the same schedules at work and have to share the car again, which I hate because its such an inconvenience! Whatever happens, we'll get thru it right?

Thanks! After Chris' parents left yesterday, I told him that it was quiet and lonely without people here! Lol.

I forgot to post this yesterday, but I called my credit card company to change my name. So now I'm waiting for my new card!

Well, I have to go now and pick up Chris and see what is happening with his truck.

We have to wait until tomorrow to find out what is wrong with Chris' truck. I really hope its nothing big! I have also been looking online for jobs, I graduate in December and have no idea what I'm going to do! I'm kinda worried about it and I don't want to let Chris down. I'm also going to put up some new pics on the wedidng day story page sometime tonight.

aww you are not going to let CHris down. Finding a job you really will enjoy takes time. It took me about four months to find a job that I wanted after graduation. Just keep looking, you will find it!

Yeah, I think when he graduates we might more closer to Iowa City or Des Moines. There might be more jobs up there for me.

Chris' aunt is coming over for supper tonight. She wants hamburgers, so we're having hamburgers again...yum...:snide: .

I haven't really been on the past few days. We went back home to work, and its weird but when we do that, we each stay at our own parent's house. We are back at our apartment now for a few days then back to the same thing. College should be starting in a few weeks, not sure what day, we try not to think about it. We are going to do the FAFSA form tonight and get that done finally.

A couple days ago, we went to Younkers and bought a bunch of stuff off our registry that we didn't receive. That included the flatware set we really like. They have to order several things that they didn't have in stock, and we added some things that weren't even on the registry. They gave us the 15% off for that stuff too!

We went to a few open houses today just for something to do because I haven't been to one for years. There are so many houses for sale in our area but most of them would be too much for us right now anyway. We will be looking to buy in a couple years when Chris is done with college.

Well today we went to the college bookstore to get books. 3 of mine weren't in, one of which was over $100, most of Chris' are over $100 for used. I got 2 books, and I was looking at the sweatshirts and found some for WIU Dads and Moms. I got one of each for my parents and will probably save those for Christmas. So I guess I've started Christmas shopping already! I looked for Chris' books on ebay and half.com and will probably get them off there because they are so much cheaper.

Aren't college books horrible? I remember dreading every semester having to buy books gawh!! :)
Sounds like you guys are doing well, glad to hear it! :)

I just got the rest of my books today, all together they cost about $300. Chris' will be closer to $500. I usually get so excited when I get my music books, but I wasn't this time. I love music and would love to do what I'm going for, but there is nothing really around this area, and I'll be stuck here for at least 1.5 more years until Chris graduates. I wish now that I had a minor, so I would have more opportunities, but I messed up I guess. My friend and I were joking around a while ago about starting our own business because she hasn't even registered for classes yet and they start next semester. She is going to a community college, and took a few online classes last semester and her teachers were *******. So she doesn't even want to take more classes. We just don't know what we'd do haha. I'm starting to think that my education is going to be a waste. :(

shawnsgirl
07-24-2007, 03:40 PM
I don't think it's a waiste..Trust me just by having a degree you are better off and have more opportunities..For instance Shawn has a degree in criminal justice but has a job in marketing. Yeah, it's not his "dream" job but he loves what he does and it definately pays the bills. Don't give up!! Yeah, it may take a while to find something in your field but just by earning your degree when you go out in the job market you have more opportunities than those without!!!

NicksBride
07-25-2007, 07:53 AM
Its def. not a waste. So many people do not work in the field that they studied in college. But it is the degree that is important. Sadly it really does not matter what you major in anymore, if you have a degree you are very hirable for any job because it shows you are commited to doing something for many years and are focused enough to finish. Don't get yourself down, you are doing an awesome thing by continuing your education. I was lucky enough to get a job right after college ins omething I studied, but I was thinking about becoming a nurse or a real estate agent NOTHING to do with my degree. Keep plugging along, you will find your niche. :)

Learning is never a waste. You'll find something that will be fun. Don't worry. What is wrong with looking at a minor now. You said you're "stuck" there for another year and a half...that's quite a few more credits. You'll figure it out. Good luck!

ugh! Matthew and I will be starting our last year of college in about 5 weeks I HATE HATE HATE buying books! They are crazy expensive, and then when you go to sell them back, they offer like a fraction of it back just to sell it again for a higher price. I just don't sell them back to the book store, if I do sell them I use amazon. I get a ton more money back.

I do hate spending like $500 between the two of us on all used books like each semester lol. I feel ya :)

I've been planning on selling my books on ebay but just haven't got around to it. My mom had a garage sale a few months back, and my friend had some books to put out at that. One actually sold! Lol. She couldn't believe it. I think it was her Criminalistics book for like $5.

Before Chris' friend came over to eat, we finished watching Rocky V. I don't think I've seen those movies since I was little. We got the whole series from Target with a raincheck for $19.99 or something like that. Now we have to get "Rocky Balboa". I've already seen it, but I absolutely love Rocky! I might go out and buy it this week hehe.

So nothing really new is going on with us right now. Haha, boring right? Well last Tuesday or Wednesday there were movie extra auditions in Burlington, IA where I'm from. They were for a baseball movie in the making, not sure what its called, but the auditions were in the minor league stadium and part of the movie is going to be filmed there! Its just so cool because stuff like that never happens in our area. Anyway, so I didn't even know about it or else I would have gone, they wanted 75 people. My sister really wants to act and she didn't know about it until it was over, so she was really upset about that.

Last night my friend came over and we Wii-ed for a few hours. I had always refused to do the boxing because I thought I would look too stupid using the Nunchuck haha. But we played it and now I love it! My arms hurt so bad now!

NicksBride
08-06-2007, 03:54 PM

Chris just rented the Tiger Woods game for Wii and I just gave up playing it because it seriously does not swing unless you move your arm the opposite way. I don't get it. Chris is mad because I got angry about it, but I get mad when things like that don't make since, I swear they just want you to lose. So I came and got on here!

We just went to the financial aid office today and found out that Chris is eligible for a couple grants over $1000, so I probably am too.

And my sister just told me today that they are still looking for movie extras and will have more auditions on Thursday evening. Unfortunetly I have to work until 8, and the thing is 5-6:30! I am so mad! I told my sister that she has to go, I don't think my mom wants her too. And they are going to film in FunCity, where the auditions are, they need bowlers and customers, and they are going to film where we had our reception! That would be so cool to be in it. I'm going to see what I can do, if someone can cover a couple of my hours at work.

Well I didn't go to the audition thing today because I had to work and the filming is next week. I won't be able to get that time off by now. My sister went though, and she said that basically who ever went will be in it. She said that weren't a lot of people there. She is going to be in the filming at the baseball stadium. She's so excited!

So I haven't been on much lately, I haven't had much to post about. I've been working a lot, and we start classes again tomorrow. I have 2 classes each day, at 9am, and 11am each day. We are going to try to start eating a little healthier starting tomorrow. We bought a bunch of stuff at Wal-Mart tonight and they were so busy, those last minute shoppers for college! Lol. The dorm students moved in on Saturday though.

Oh, and today was my parents' anniversary!

Today at college wasn't that bad. I don't think these 2 classes will be too hard. I had Compensation Mgt and a Personal Finance class today. For Personal Finace, he said that it would be a good thing to subscribe to Business Week or Money magazine because we have to summerize articles. I looked on the Money mag website and they accept PayPal. A year plus a bonus mag is $9.95, so thanks to OneWed I will probably get my subscription free! I haven't ordered it yet, I have a pitiful $7.01 in my account! Lol.

I had my 2 music business classes today. I have presentations in all 4 of my classes! Arg! I just hate those! I hate being in front of people because I know that they don't care about what I have to say. Ugh. We still haven't got our financial aid award letter thing so we still don't know exactly how much financial aid we got. Tuition has to be paid by next Tuesday too. I was going to say something else on here but I forgot.

Oh, well I'm thinking of quitting my job here in town, currently I am working 2 part time jobs. I've been wanting to quit for a while now, but after last night it makes me want to quit more! I was scheduled from 4-10, and we were really busy because all the college students are back in town. We were kinda behind on things, but I was always doing my stuff like I'm supposed to ya know, and then at 9 the manager asked me if I would stay until 10:30 or 11 because we were behind. I said I'd stay until 10:30 even though I didn't want to. Then her and her friend, who also works there, went outside to smoke twice for almost 10 minutes each. Um...no wonder you're behind! I refused to help them out and was in a bad mood the rest of the time.

Chris told me to put in my notice last night, which I didn't. I work tonight and then Wed. and Thurs. Last semester was hard because of work, being in an organization, and doing group work. I'm not going to be in the organization this semester, I want to be able to actually try this time because it is my last semester and I want to do good.

Chris said that we could make it by with me only working about 16 hours per weekend (my other job), and he is thinking of taking an assistant manager position a half hour away from here, but then he'd have to work 50 hours a week. He's still in college too, but he'd make about $30K at least. I might put in my notice this week sometime, just getting sick of staying later help people out and then it not being appreciated. She never thanked me, so if she asks me to stay tonight, I'll say, "why so you can go smoke?" and then I won't stay!

Anyway, enough venting! Gots to go finish eating and then start reading my stupid books! I have a quiz on Friday already...

Oh yeah, I remember what I was going to say now...that my first class was at 9 today and I had my alarm set for 7:15, it went off, I thought I'd sleep another 5 minutes or so...then woke up at 8:35!! Lol. Just my luck, so I had to hurry and get ready, Chris took me to class. If I had to take the bus I would have been late!

I do that sometimes too! I hit that snooze button or I think I'll just lay here for five minutes and I end up closing my eyes!! LOL! Anyhow, just checking in to see how you were doing! Looks like you are super busy!! I feel you pain..I go part time to school, work full time, raise two wonderful children, and plan a wedding..lol..This semester I have two gen ed classes that I am doing all online which is super nice. No presentations (I hate those two), only papers and tests. No biggy!! I'll breeze thru this semester! Anyhow, good luck with school and to both you and your hubby don't over due it!!!

Haven't posted in a while so I'll give you a quick update I guess.

Last Thursday I put a week notice in to my second job. I've been working 6 days a week, 4 there since college started last week. I'm behind already on my homework. I will just be working weekends for a while.

Today when I got off the bus to go to my first class, my flip-flop broke! Lol. The part that goes between the toes came out of the flat part. I felt kinda stupid because there were a few people around. I just casually fixed and walked away haha. Then it happened again a couple minutes later! Good thing Chris is going to pick my up today! I'm hoping that I can make it til noon, then I need to throw these away! Haha...I should be wearing shoes anyway, not flip flops since I walk a bunch...

Were there people around? There is always people around when embarassing things happen! There's no way around that. But I did make it down the steps after my class and out the the car without it breaking again! Yay! It probably heard me say that I would throw them away...*evil laugh*!

Well on a different, but not better note...tuition is due today, and all my financial aid has been awarded, but according to my account the college has not "received" it yet. I don't know what that means. I have to call the financial aid office in 30 minutes when they get back from lunch. I think its for each day tuition is late, they charge you 1%. Chris' has been received. Our financial aid advisor told us to wait until after we were married to fill out the FAFSA form, so we'd get more aid. So we did, and now mine hasn't been received yet! I refuse to have 1% taken out of my aid money. I mean, its all paid for with the aid but I want the extra cash back! Haha.

Oh, I forgot to post that on Sunday I went shopping with my mom and sister. They were looking for a dress for Homecoming for her. I ended up getting 2 pairs of pants, a black one and a gray one. It was buy one get one for $0.88! So my total came to $40, but I saved $32. Hehe, I'm happy about that! I just have to find some shirts to go with them, and I need a new pair of black boots & shoes that have a higher sole or heel. The legs are kinda long.

We just got a deep freeze yesterday. Our freezer is just too small for what we buy, and it has an ice maker in it which takes up almost half of the freezer.

Last night was my last day of my second job. I got sick of working two jobs right now. I have been for at least a year. I also will have more time to keep up on my homework.

Today we went to a fishfry, and on the way there, there was a car in front of us that was swerving so bad all over the road that Chris called the police dept. He was completely off the side of the right side of the road at one point, then swerved back over the center line and almost had a head on collision with a Mustang convertible! The 'Stang swerved off their side of the road to avoid it! It was craziness. Then he turned where we were turning and he just pulled off and parked for a while. We didn't ask him what was wrong or anything but he doing that for about 15 minutes ever since we were behind him...that we noticed. So when he pulled over, he just sat there and was wiping his face like he was sweating or had a panic attack or something. We doubt the cops even came because they're like that here.

I told Chris that he probably would have been better off getting in a wreck or going in the ditch because then a cop would have come for sure. At least he didn't get in a wreck with that 'Stang! Hopefully he had a safe trip wherever he was going.

On a better note, after the fishfry, we went to Target for a while with Chris' aunt and sister. I found a pair of crop PJ pants that were orange and had pumpkins on it! They were so cute and only $8 so I got them, and they had green ones with owls on it so I got that for my sister for Christmas.

I found a pair of black shoes that I thought might go with my pants that I got on sale last week. They were on sale for about $20. They are really comfy and are squishy. Chris got a shirt.

Here is a pic of my shoes:

Um...what else? We were randomly looking at the baby things and I was saying what was so cute and what I can't wait to get haha. He's like, "well maybe in a couple years we can get them". Last week he was saying that we should start trying to have a baby after December! I think he's secretly got baby fever! LOL.

Oh! And we paid my credit card bill off, and our rings off with Chris' financial aid! Yay! We are debt free now besides our student loans!

We have been talking about getting a hampster for a while now. I got all the stuff for it a few years ago because my mom said I could have one, then she told me I couldn't! Anyway, so we went to a pet store yesterday for a little bit before Chris' aunt came over. There were a couple of doggies walking around, they were so cute! The small black one was kinda shy and his right front leg was injured or deformed or something, he couldn't walk on it. I wanted to take him home!

Anyway! Lol...we saw a couple dwarf hampsters which is what I was going to get, my friend/BM, Jamie said I could have one of hers (a few years ago). They also had some black bear hampsters that were really cute! Those were $10 each. We got a cage for it today already, but I had to take Chris to class 20 minutes ago, he'll get out at 3:15 and then we're gonna go get one!

I'm so excited because I've never had a pet before besides fish. I haven't had one of those in a few years since my beta fish, Joan Jett died...I was lazy and didn't want to clean the bowl for a couple weeks  ...

There are 2 pet stores in town, the one we will get the hampster from and the other one that we got the cage from today. The one we went to today had a Cocker Spaniel just sitting in his cage all lonely :(, so I kept petting his nose, he was so cute but over $200. I always tell Chris, "aw, they're not wanted...I want him!"...but it never works! We might get one in a couple years when we move again.

Okay, now I'm kinda rambling, but before we went to the pet store today we were sitting in the drive thru at the bank, and some old lady came up and just rear ended us! It wasn't that bad at all, but I was so mad! She didn't even bother to get out and say sorry, so Chris went back there and took her info just in case something happens with the car (I'll explain later). He said it just kinda scuffed it but it was rude of her to not say sorry til Chris went back there to talk to her! She was telling him, "oh that couldn't have been from me!"...whatever, if you're to blind to see a car in front of you going that slow, maybe you shouldn't be driving! Just because there is a millimeter of room between ya doesn't mean you take it!

A couple years ago Chris was sitting in a drive thru at our bank back home, and this old lady just rear ended him pretty hard! We moved like a foot or 2! She was pretty rude too! The cops came that time, but soon after that he needed his transmission replaced in his truck, we think because it got hit while in park.

Ok, so yesterday we took our car to the body shop for our bumper that had paint coming off. I'm not sure if I posted this, but a few weeks ago, Chris was washing the car and paint started peeling back off the front bumper! Our car is an '07, it shouldn't do that! So anyway, we are in this crappy rental car, a Chevy Aveo. It doesn't even have a CD player, cruise, and it only has one cup holder and its in the back...wtf? Arg! We hate this! Our car better be done tomorrow or else we're gonna be mad!

So last night just for fun we drove through some car places here in town. We saw a '94 Camaro Z28, V8 automatic, red, but 166K miles. It was $5000, and so we drove it just because it would be fun and there is one in our apartment complex that Chris wants too. The only thing wrong with this one is it has a cracked driver's door and a cracked dash. Chris has a friend who has this sweet Firebird, and his brother has one too I think, they looked at it and if he would get it then we know it is in great shape and worth it. He said the only reason they didn't get it was because they didn't offer his bro enough for his car.

The one at our apartment complex is a '95 Camaro Z28, 5.7L 6 speed, white with red racing stripes and has like 155K miles. He wants $5000 or best offer. Chris wants to drive that tonight. If we don't get it then this other guy will.

Now, its not like we need another car right now! Especially with student loans I will have in a few months, and we want kids in a couple years, but Chris is really into it and said we can afford it if he goes back to working on Sundays for a few months. We have a little extra with our financial aid that we got back. I don't know, we'll see what happens. Our parents would kick our butts all the way to China if we did! LOL. But it would be pretty fun...

Well Chris had his friend who works on cars come look at the '95 white Camaro today. We decided that if he found anything leaking or wrong then we wouldn't get it. He said its in great shape and nothing is leaking or wrong as far as he could see. Chris is going to talk to his credit union and see if we can refinance our Cobalt so we can get the Camaro too. My mom is going to be so mad! But this is going to be our project car. The only thing that we need to put in now is a new cruise/turn signal thing, which isn't a big deal. The same thing happened in my old car. Only about $200. Then Chris has ideas for it in the future...not the near future at all!

Chris called his credit union today and we will refinance our car, and something about taking a loan out against the car. That's what Chris said at least, I let him deal with all that. We got our car for $13800, we owe just under $12000, and it books at $16000, I think is what the lady said. So we don't have to take out a separate loan for the Camaro, and then we won't have to have full coverage insurance. It'll be cheaper this way I guess, only about $70 more than what we pay per month anyway. We pay $270/mo for the Cobalt.

So we did get the Camaro last Sunday. When we registered it in Iowa Monday, it came up as a salvage title. The guy who sold it to us said it had a clean title. When he gave us his title, it didn't say anything about being salvage. Since we had already paid him $4000 for it, there was no way he would take it back. Not that we were planning on it, but Chris called him up and told him that it had a salvage title, it was in a wreck in '98. The car was only 3 years old then, his guy got it in '00. He said that he didn't know anything about it, he bought it from a private party also. Apparently he seemed really pissed about it because according to him, he didn't know anything about it and he'd had it for almost 8 years.

Now obviously we can't prove that he did know about it or not, which I believe him. He took awesome care of the car and told us what he replaced and all that. The only thing we can think of is since the wreck happened in Iowa, and it was registered in Illinois, something might have happened to where it didn't get put on the record. So we don't understand why it came up now...maybe because it happened in Iowa? Or maybe the first owner knew someone who worked with that stuff and had it taken off.

I don't know, anyway I'm rambling....

On a different note...I am waiting for a friend to come over after classes. He hangs out here sometimes before he goes to work. He lives about 20 minutes away. In the meantime, I took out the trash ( :bbeek: ), lol, something I rarely do. And I have kinda been trying to organize some things. It is hard to when you have so much stuff.

So here is a pic of our car!

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k243/PoisonBabe84/camaro.jpg

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k243/PoisonBabe84/camaro2.jpg

We ordered a new exhaust system for it already, it was almost $400. $7 of which was paid from my PayOut money! Thanks OW! And it should be in Saturday...then it'll get put on Monday and be really loud! The previous owner hollowed out the cat...whatever that means, I'm stupid when it comes to that stuff, so we think its rusting and starting to smell because of that.

ohh i like it!!!

It means its been wrecked. They are supposed to tell you if it has been, dealers are required to I think, but when you get it private party, and its not on their title...for whatever reason, what can you do? Lol. Oh well, we don't plan on getting rid of it! Just making it better! I can't wait!

We got the Camaro back today with the new exhaust system on it. The muffler is hollow or something and so it is really loud! Chris' friend is over right now putting on a new tire rod or whatever its called. I made sloppy joes just a little while ago, and the boys are still outside. I have been looking on eBay last night and today for stuff for the Cobalt. I found a few pretty cool things so I got 3 of them. (BTW, I blame Chris for this because he found some black chrome rims for the Camaro and so I got on and started looking...and he ordered them today!)

I bought a vinyl decal thing that goes over the 3rd brake light that says "Cobalt", so when I brake it'll show thru. I also got some sticker things that say "Cobalt" that go on what they called the door sill. Its right inside the door beside the seat. I think I might have won the auction thing for a performance chip too. It's supposed to increase HP and MPG. It was only like $4, so if it doesn't work, no big deal. Eventually we will get LED headlights for my car too. These looked pretty sweet! I'd post pics but eBay is being mean, and whenever I go to the site, it doesn't load properly then says "End Now", you know that one annoying thing that closes the window. Arg, I hate this. It's been doing it all day just on that site.

So I haven't posted in a while again lol. What's new? Hm...well I got those 3 things I ordered for my car! We put the third brake light cover on last night, as well as those decals that go inside the door sill thing. We took pics last night, I'll make Chris put them on his comp today so I can post them. Now I am looking at some headlights, LED projector ones. But I can't decide if I want the white ones or the black ones. I was stuck on the black ones, but now I kinda like the white ones just as much.

Here is a pic of my car again:

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k243/PoisonBabe84/DSC05385.jpg

Here are the headlights (prices can vary, they're off eBay):

white ones are $156 + shipping
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k243/PoisonBabe84/whiteLEDs.jpg

black ones are $159 + shipping
http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k243/PoisonBabe84/blackLEDs.jpg

At first I liked the black ones because my car is black, but after going out and looking at my car last night, I think the white ones might look good too. Arg. And Chris likes them both which doesn't help.

Then we were looking at rims last night and I got stuck on these. They are $110 each, 17 in. (my car already has 16 in).

Yeah we hold him, he's so soft, but I can't get him out of his cage. I don't want to hurt him trying to pick him up, so Chris takes him outta the cage. He's a crazy guy. It seems like every time we put new bedding stuff in for him and clean his stuff, right when we put him back in there, he'll climb up the sides of the cage. He looks funny, then he'll get to the top of it and then let go and he falls lol.

So last night, I listed my '95 Grand Am owner's manual on eBay. I kept it for some reason when I traded in my car lol. It is the first thing I've tried selling on there. Hopefully it sells haha.

Last night we also put some green neon lights in my car. Chris has them under his truck, and he had extras to use. Since we got the Camaro, he's gonna try to sell his truck. He doesn't know yet if he's gonna put a For Sale sign in it now or wait til spring. It would be easier to drive in the snow in his truck than the Camaro! He's planning on putting snow tires on the Camaro, and saving his new tires on the new rims for summer stuff.

Then he crawled into the toilet paper roll that's in his cage, and I picked him up while he was still in it lol. Well I have to go pick up Chris in about 15 minutes from class. Then we are going to a junk yard that has like 3 or 4 Camaros that were wrecked. We are going to look for mainly front seats that aren't torn, some other parts that are in good condition, and maybe get some extras/doubles and sell them on eBay. One of his friends gets most of his money from selling car parts on eBay. He makes about $1000/mo. I think. He'll buy old cars for a couple hundred bucks, then sell every last part of it on eBay, then sells the body to some scrap metal place. That would be awesome if we could find a few more Camaro seats and sell them. He said that he'd get them for like $50 and people will pay a like $200-600 for them because they're rare...especially if they're not ripped. Hopefully we can make some money!

We didn't find any seats that weren't torn in the same spots. There was one Camaro from the '80s that had some nice unscratched T-tops, Chris was thinking of taking them and selling 'em on eBay. He should have! He probably could have got them for like $50 and they are going for over $300 on eBay!

So I have been checking my eBay so see if anyone has shown interest in my owner's manual. For a few days only one person had looked at it, today I signed on and 2 more people had looked at it! Yay! Lol. I just checked again and 2 more people...haha. And now it shows that one person is "watching" my item. I have 2 more days left before the auction thing ends. I tried to figure out a shipping cost which is about $3. I set the bid starting at $2. Before I posted this, I was looking to see the prices of other ones...the shipping is like over $7 or so. I should not cost that much to send it! I think I have an advantage in that area. People might sell the items for cheap but then rack up the shipping cost to make more money off of it.

How did you BBQ go? Is your friend doing OK who is having problems with his GF?

It was fun, we ate and then went for a cruise in the Camaro, and then played Wii. He had never Wii-ed before. I guess his gf was cheating on him or something. He's pretty down about it.

Well tonight I have to go to Wal-Mart and get one of those padded envelopes to mail off my Grand Am owner's manual that I just sold on eBay. Tonight is the last night of the auction. I will mail it off tomorrow hopefully, or not until the person pays for it. Then I have to start a paper due Thursday for my Artist Development class lol. I have known about it for a month. We have to write about an artist-manager lawsuit. I didn't think it would be hard to find one so I procrastinated like usual. Lol. I need to stop doing that. So I started looking at the end of last week. I'm sure I could have searched for any band and found one, but I finally came across a Motley Crue one that was filed this year. I will be doing that. It'll be more interesting since it's a band I like!

After reading Katy's journal and seeing her pics, it reminded me that tonight my mom was talking about how she's kinda getting tired and bored of her job. She's worked at a bank pretty much forever. She keeps saying that she'd like to start her own kraft business. Once in a while she'll go to craft shows with a few things and try to sell them. I was telling her that there are so many things I'd like to do that's why I'm not sure what I want to do after December when I graduate. I keep talking about going back and taking more classes for something, the only thing I'm afraid of is wasting my time and money doing so.

One thing I'd like to do is have my own business, my friend keeps saying the same thing. Since there aren't really many music places around my area, and we don't want to move far, I'm thinking of just managing local bands...kinda do my music thing on the side, and then maybe work somewhere else or help my mom. There is one place I'm kinda "targeting" for a job, there is an annual music festival in town and newer artists (pop), oldies and/or classic rock, and country bands are booked. Its awesome, I love it. I'd like to work for them doing something.

Thanks. The guy who did our engagement pics said that photography is a tough business. He said a lot of people don't try to search for a good price, because a lot of them are loyal to certain places. He's pretty expensive, but is experienced. He said its hard for him because he has higher prices, but he's very good at what he does. He gave us a free session because he's a loyal customer at where we work, we will give him free meals sometimes too. Get this, he did Hulk Hogan's wedding pics when he lived in Cali, then moved to SE Iowa. He had a some of them up in his studio and we asked him if he took them, and he said yes. That is pretty cool. Good luck with your business too! Its kinda hard to just start out though, I mean you can't just quit your current job and dive into something else. I guess you could, but I mean, people have bills to pay! Lol. Its a risk I guess.

I forgot to put earlier that I went to JC Penney today and got 2 tanks for $10! Woohoo! Lol. I got one earlier this year, but now they're like 50% off and I wanted some more because they're comfy. Anyway, just wanted to add that, I think there was something else but I don't remember!

Yea photography is a VERY hard business and I could never imagine anyone quitting a great job to do that full time, but it is a great hobby/part-time job. I would love to do weddings on the weekends or something. A friend of ours is getting marired next year and I asked her if I could do her wedding for free and she would get all the pictures as long as I could use her pictures as a portfolio, I guess that is what you have to do.. Start small and make your way up...
Its a GREAT way to make extra money. :)
Great deal at Jcpenney!

So is she going to let you take her pics? That would save a lot of money for her! We are bad, we haven't even finished going through our pics, we get 200 free prints and we are almost done going through them. We really need to finish that! Lol.

That must be exciting! I'm excited for you! Lol. I'd love to see what you put in your portfolio. My brother got a really good camara because he was into taking pictures...he goes through phases lol...and he took some of my parent's flowers and stuff like that. They actually looked professional! I'm not sure what kind of camara it was. I should get one! Lol.

hehe thanks!! I have always wanted a nice camera and had one where you had to load the film and crank it etc, I never understood it, so thank god they made digital cameras like that for dummies like me. There is SOO much going on in that camera that i Have no idea what to do. They are pretty affordable so it was nice to get a good one that I can use. I am going to fram some pictures and give them as X-mas gifts as well.... :)

So the auction for my owner's manual ended on Sunday, was sold, and the person hasn't paid yet. I let them know that I won't ship the item until I receive payment. I hope she pays soon, if not by Sunday, I will file a complaint against them and they will receive negative feedback haha.

70707Bride
10-19-2007, 09:43 AM
Lol, you actually moved seats? That's great! Well I swear yesterday was the worst day to be driving! Lol, people kept making me so angry! Like this one person was in front of me and kept hitting their brakes for no reason. There was no one in front of them. Then in the double right turning lane, he was in the right lane in front of me, then swerved into the left one, just to turn, then cut me off again and then kept hitting the brakes! Wtf man? There was some other things that happened too but now I don't remember.

So there are these creepy bugs that won't go away in our apartment. I have never seen them until we moved to this apartment. They are not ear wigs, although the office and the pest control guy say they are. The pest control guy came two days ago to spray. We have these sticky things to catch them so he can see what they are. They are black, or dark and have antennas on both ends. And they crawl super fast. Maybe about half an inch long. They stay mostly on the walls.

Bad drivers, those are fun. hahaha. People who do not use their blinkers get on my last nerve, HELLLOOO!

Ewww, I am sorry I would have a fit if I found those bugs in my apartment. haha I cannot handle bugs. Hope you get it figured out soon. We have a large problemw ith fruit flies, I cannot get rid of them. Tis the season I guess where everything outside wants to come in. Suckers. :)

Arg, I just got back from class and now we have 4 of those stupid bugs! Chris said they might be coming out of hiding since the guy sprayed a couple days ago. Well I don't think that is stuff to kill them, obviously its made it worse! I think its mostly for spiders.

So this weekend at work could have been better...one of our newer assistant managers might not last too much longer. All she did was nag and criticize everything I did. It was ridiculous.

Last week we got our gift card from Younkers. We got 5% of what was spent off our registry back in a gift card, so we had $55. We got a set of 3 cooling racks, a peeler, and a knife that Chris' mom wanted...that was her late b-day present. We have like $10 left I think.

We got a note on our door from the apartment office saying that sometime this week or next week they will have investors come and look at random apartments, inside and out. They want the entire place clean and organized to make it look better. The only really messy area is where our computers are...which is actually part of the living room/dining area. We are going to move our TV and futon and stuff from the second bedroom to the actual living room, and putting our comps in that room, and just folding up the ping pong table because we don't play that much anymore.

One of Chris' grandpas owns a small one bedroom house with a huge yard back in our hometown. He's been trying to fix it up and Chris talked to him tonight and he said he might try to sell it next summer. Maybe for $30K or so. The basement isn't finished, just cement walls and such. Definitely not big enough to have kids in. Chris told him to keep us in mind, we'd finish fixing it up, maybe add on a room or so, live in it for 2 years so if we sold it later, we wouldn't have to pay taxes on the fixing up expenses. Or we might just rent it out.

So those are the updates with us!

We are in the process of cleaning and rearranging our apartment this week. We got a note Sunday that said on Oct 26, they have investors coming to look at the apartments. They will be selecting random ones to walk through. So they want all apartments clean inside and out. We are moving our comp desks to the spare room along with the deep freeze, so we have room in the "dining area" if we get a table. The ping pong table that was set up in the actual living room is folded up now and will be put aside. We moved the futon and entertainment stuff from the spare room to the living room. Arg. That is a lot and confusing! Lol. We are wanting to get rid of a lot of stuff.

On a photographic note (hehe), here is what I have randomly been doing with our wedding pics:

Thanks, Katy!

So last night we went to a friend's house and helped him tear down a wall...hehe...that was fun! I've never torn a wall down before, it was so dusty and stuff, so his gf and I went to town and got some facemask things and the guy there was rude. We walked in and just decided that we would ask someone where they were instead of walking around aimlessly trying to find them in a big hardware store. Well there was 3 people standing around just watching us when we walked in and stood there. None of them offered to help, then she said that we might just be able to find them. So we walked, and went down the right aisle first, the guy followed us and just finally asked if we needed help, and we told him what we were looking for. But just then we realized that we were almost to them. He was like, "what would you need those for?" in a way like he thought we were stupid or something. She said, "we're tearing down a wall, do you have any other advice?" lol. He's like, "no looks like you have it under control". Wtf? He was a butt about it. I mean jeez, its called get some customer service skills lol.

So we tore the wall down, and we felt gross even though there was a fan in the window to carry the dust out, we had it all over our hair, around our eyes, and nose...there was so much it went through the masks.

I took a shower last night and my hair still feels icky today! And my shoes are gross too.

So I'm bored and haven't posted in a while so here is a bunch of random stuff. Chris is at the college library meeting with a group. I wrapped 3 Christmas presents today lol. We made fried chicken for lunch and it was okay. I graduate in December and am thinking of seeing how many more classes I would need for a Finance minor, I think its maybe 2 or 3. If so I most likely will do that. I have been thinking of applying at Edward Jones, they provide training. ...okay I just stepped away from the comp for a sec because the doorbell just rang...we have an upstairs apartment so I looked out the window...just about 5 trick or treaters from the apartment complex I guess. We are not handing out candy, so I didn't answer the door. Lol...the candy we have is for US! Lol...anyway, what else?

I'm thinking that since there most likely will be nothing around here for what I want to do, something in music business, that I might attempt to get a sales job or something in finance. Still might send my resume to the committee that has an annual music festival in June, I love it! Most of the people that work there are volunteers I believe, so maybe I can use that as an internship. I haven't heard of them doing that before, but there are only about 30 colleges in the US that offer a music business program so I could be the first one right?! Lol. Then I could get free tickets, and be stage crew and go backstage and meet all the bands!

So I decided at the moment that I might be happy doing music on the side and working somewhere else full time.

I tried listing the Camaro T-top shades on eBay today and it won't let me list them. I think its just being a douchebag. I listed my old phone manual last week and had 12 viewers but didn't sell. I relisted it today. Hopefully it sells. Lol. I still have to carve our pumpkin tonight!

I am going to be baking like 3 loaves of banana bread and other stuff this week. My sister is in 4-H and they have a bake sale on Friday. There are not very many members in our group at all, and people always make brownies and rice crispy treats. They're good but get a variety! Lol. So I will be doing these Oreo cookie things on a stick, dipped in almond bark. It'll look like a lollypop. We have made them the last couple years for Christmas. They're fun. When I'm done with them I will post pics! Anyway, so I will be making stuff to help them out.

We are looking to buy some furniture again. We looked last year and got stuck on these, but only in a sage green color. I like this color too, but it would show dirt more. We are also looking at these end tables and coffee table. The first time I saw these triangle ones I was hooked! I love them because they are different.

http://www.ashleyfurniture.com/Graphics/Web/5540138_G.jpg

http://www.ashleyfurniture.com/Graphics/Web/T140-13_G.jpg

They are both Ashley furniture, and we would get the loveseat, sofa, chair and ottoman (sp?), and these tables all for about $1700, and its no interest, no payments for a year. The only thing I'm worried about is the lack of space in our apartment, it would fit but will be crowded. Chris just won't sit on the futon anymore because he can feel the metal bars under it. It is uncomfortable for him.

Yeah, they are soft and comfy! I will just have to figure out how to decorate around the green color now when we get a house! The off white color would be easy, and more neutral, oh well I guess LOL.

I am currently taking a break from those Oreo lollypop things lol. I burned the first batch of almond bark in the microwave. Its the first time I've tried melting it in this microwave. It has so much more power than my old one and my mom's.

We are going to have to call Shottenkirk again (the place where we got our Cobalt). We had the front bumper replaced a few months ago because paint was chipping off of it already. And that time they also "fixed" the sunroof switch cover thing. But a couple weeks after that it fell off again. So we have to get that fixed again, and now one of our front tires has a slow leak, so that should be under warranty. And the back bumper is kinda bowing out on each side. I think that is from when the stupid lady rear-ended us in the bank DT a while ago, I was so mad. At the time we thought the only damage was a small scratch from a screw in her license plate thing. And we are still unsure if that had anything to do with the bumper because she didn't hit very hard at all. So we are going to go in and just say that it is bowing out, not telling them that it was her because technically we don't know. Lol, we figure if it can be considered under warranty, then might as well get it fixed!

So we decided that when Chris gets outta class in about 45 minutes, we're going to go get the furniture! We have been moving stuff out of the way, we need to have a major garage sale or something! We have so much stuff, and now we're gonna have to do something with the futon and the end tables that we have now. We might put the futon back in the spare room with our computers so my sister has a room when she stays over. I guess we can put the old end tables in the storage unit. I don't know if I ever said on here that we have a storage unit on our balcony! It is so handy.

Anyway, here are some pics of what I have done so far for the bake sale.

When they cooled, this was the first batch, the worst ones!

Thanks. They are kind hard to make without breaking them. You have to use the Double Stuf Oreos though because of the extra icing. What I do is hold the cookie on each side while putting the stick in, and you don't have to stick it in all the way, maybe about half way up the cookie. Um...then I use a glass measuring cup with the almond bark in it because its deep. I keep a fork under it as I dip it because the cookies have been known to fall off the stick! Lol. Using them as gifts is a great idea. You can use them for any holiday, just change the sprinkles or whatever you put on it to the season.

Well we just got the loveseat, sofa, and the chair and ottoman, not the tables. We decided that $1700 was a little much right now. So then he gave us a total of $1175 or so without them. We wonder if he typed a wrong number into the calculator for the first total because the tables together were about $300, not $600 lol. Oh well. He tried to give us a deal because we bought our bed set and lamps from them too.

Wow, I'm typing a lot today in my journal! Lol.

Well we sold the Camaro t-top shades on eBay last week for $30! WooHoo! Lol. So we just got back from shipping them. I am working on a stupid Power Point thing for one of my classes. Presentations start tomorrow, I'm not sure when I will do mine...I wish never! Lol. It should be pretty easy, but I hate them. We have next week off for Thanksgiving break! Yay!

I have to meet a partner for another project tonight, our teacher said its due tomorrow, presentations for that start tomorrow too. But if its due tomorrow I don't know what he wants us to turn in. If its just a presentation, we can't really turn anything in lol. He is so vague in what he wants.

I have been randomly thinking that my mom and I should start an eBay store with her crafts and stuff. I haven't said anything to her yet, but she might go for it, not sure. She wants to start a craft business, but obviously can't quit her job for that. And I am thinking of starting an artist management company here in the midwest, but that is something that will take time. I would start it on the side if I did it. Happy birthday! Isn't it exciting to get birthday money?? Even if it does have to go towards bills. Sadly we have over 2000 on a credit card... we are college students and we have Christmas coming up.... but hey, what can you do right? Sometimes stuff like that happens.

You are in college too right? It makes it so hard because it is sooo hard with not being able to have a steady full time job sicne we have to go to classes and stuff. How many classes are you taking? I have 19 hours right now... 20 next semester, but my DH only has 12, so at least he can work more than I can!

I wouldn't trade being married for the whole world, but it sure isn't easy either! So I feel for you.... btw sorry about the car issue! Why can't you sell the other car instead of his truck that he loves, since you have 3?

Happy birthday! Isn't it exciting to get birthday money?? Even if it does have to go towards bills. Sadly we have over 2000 on a credit card... we are college students and we have Christmas coming up.... but hey, what can you do right? Sometimes stuff like that happens.

Well, we have my Cobalt, which we have only had for a year, and the Camaro is his dream car, he eventually wants to get a bigger truck anyway, he just has an S10 right now. Its in great shape, its a '99, with like 70K miles on it. Then he has after market parts too. Some kid we work with might buy it for $6500, it books for $5500 and Chris wanted to get $8000 out of it, but he might take the neon lights off, and then put them on my car. Hehe. And there is another kid who might buy his in-dash CD/DVD player for $1000. Then we can go out of debt til we have to pay back loans! LOL. I am not looking forward to that! I have no idea what I'm going to do in like 3 weeks! I will be graduated and need a job!

Ok, so a kid we work with was interested in Chris's truck a couple days ago and said he was going to the bank today. Well, he called Chris today and said that he can't buy it after all because he just found out that his ex-gf is pregnant...by him LOL. There is another kid that is interested in Chris's in dash CD/DVD player though for $1000.

So last week, my throat hurt and Tuesday was my bday so that sucked. We went to Olive Garden though yum! We weren't sure if we were going to go because Monday I was throwing up and we thought it was something I ate...still not sure...because then Wednesday I felt like I was going to get sick again all day. I never did but then last night I threw up again. Its odd, so we got a pregnancy test and it came out negative this morning (:whoohoo:). We just can't afford a kid right now...

One another note...there is bake sale at my church on Saturday so my mom wants me to bake some more banana bread and do more of those lollipop things...arg...I'm not sure if that bananas are going to be ripe enough by the end of the week, they might be. The lollipops will be done in Christmas colors this time so I will post pics haha.

I'm taking a break from making those lollipop things again. I only did a few because I'm not sure if these are going to turn out. First I thought I heated the almond bark on too high of a temp. and when that happens it starts to clump. Then the sprinkles I got are those small round ones and I don't think they are going to stay on the almond bark. When I did the other ones for fall, I used those leaf sprinkles or whatever they were and they stuck I think because they're heavier or something. This is poopy. It makes me sad because when it comes to stuff like this I'm a perfectionist! LOL. Oh well, I'll let them cool and see if it worked.

I'm just waiting for a turkey roast to get done in a little bit, and I whipped up some mashed potatoes! Yum! We might go to Wal-Mart tonight, not sure, and then I need to finish those lollipop things, I didn't work on the yesterday and so now I need to do a bunch tonight...darnit.

So the bake sale at our church did good I guess. I didn't go, my mom and sister helped. They sold all of the Oreo pops! Yay! LOL. Some lady told my mom that they were great and that "my sister" should make more! My mom said, "well actually Jessica made them"! LOL. *takes a bow* Then my mom said that there is going to be another bake sale next weekend too...you know what that means...more pops to make...poo. I guess the money is going towards food to send to third world countries, so I don't mind making them as much.

Tonight we went to Wal-Mart and did some grocery shopping, spent about $60, Chris thought it was gonna be about $100 lol. Now I have Chex Mix in the oven for him. He only wanted it made with cereal, he doesn't like the pretzels or the nuts in it. I don't like pretzels unless they're dipped in almond bark...I'm famous for those too hehe. My mom makes it with a bag of Gardetos (sp?) too, which Chris doesn't like...I do though. Well the oven just beeped so gots to go!

Chris kept saying how good it smelled. I can't remember if I said this already but his batch tasted funny. He didn't want me to put any seasoned salt in it so I think that is what it was. I made my batch today YUM! but didn't have Gardetos so I just made it with cereal. I made a little extra sauce too...that is the good stuff! I love those pieces that are covered!

I just made mac 'n cheese and we will have bbq smokies later. We eat like 4 meals a day. Hehe.

I started dipping pretzels tonight, I wanted to try a batch of them with the almond bark colored red. When we put the food coloring in, it started clumping, I don't know if it was the dye that had an effect on it, or if I cooked it too long. It wasn't liquidy like it was supposed to be. Our microwave is quite powerful. So I tried another batch, w/o food coloring, on a lower time, and it turned out fine, so I don't know. With our microwave, I don't know what the wattage is, but I can melt almond bark by putting it in for 10 seconds on power 1, a few times! Its ridiculous! LOL. My mom's 'wave (hehe) takes a few minutes on like power level 6. I can always make the perfect ones at her house. I have to get used to our stuff now...I'm a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like this, if it looks like poo, I won't give it to people, or even finish the batch!

Not a whole lot has been going on with us the past couple days. We have finals this week and then I am done! I have 2 tests tomorrow, one on Thursday and a paper due that day too.

I accidently broke one of one of the spoon rest dishes tonight. It fell out of my hand and broke on the floor. I was sad, and still am. Now it looks weird with just one dish by itself. Its a metal frame thing that holds 2 saucers for a spoon. I just noticed tonight that one of our plates is chipped on the corner, that makes 2.

Last night I sent my resume on CareerBuilder to a job posting in my hometown. I haven't called them yet to set up an interview though. I hate calling people. I need to call my eye doctor and set an appt with him too. I am using my last pair of contacts. I changed them this past weekend I think, and 2 of my last 4 pairs were defective. One had a whole or something rough on it, and the other one had an extra piece of plastic attached to it. It was weird. So I'm probably gonna get 2 free ones next time.

So today was my last day of college ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its gonna be weird not going back in the spring when Chris does. Its like, your whole life you've gone to school, K-12 and then you graduate and then go onto college.

I applied for my first real full-time job earlier this week. I did this through CareerBuilder and then it said I had to call them for an interview, which I haven't yet. I kinda hope I get it because I need at least $1000 paychecks! Hehe.

Hehe, yeah that'll be weird. And those folders with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom on them hehe.

Well I called the place this morning that I applied at. It said to call for an interview. They said that I had to come in and fill out an application, so I'll do that on Sunday. I felt kinda stupid on the phone, I wasn't really sure what to say! Well I didn't get an interview, I just had to go there and apply. Then my parents told me that I should take a resume down to the Chamber of Commerce, I guess they are the ones who book all the acts for our annual festival in the summer. I didn't know that they did that! Now I have to type up a cover letter. I don't know if I should take it down there or mail it. I wouldn't even know who to direct it to, or give it to! That would be cool if I could work with promoting events and stuff in our area. I think it would be fun. Or if they could create a position just for me for something dealing with music in our area.

Well, we finally got our wedding pics back! Our photographer just takes the CD to Wal-Mart or somewhere and prints them off, I saw him at Wal-Mart last night and I assumed he was doing our pics! Hehe. He was too because Chris went to his house to pick them up. He said that since his CD is different that Picasa he might have messed them up. Most of them are right, but he got several copies of a pic we didn't want copies of, instead of the other one. We picked 3 poses to get several copies of to give people, and 2 of them are right. Then we realized that we didn't get 2 pics we wanted. Keep in mind, he let us have 200 prints free. So it was probably all confusing to him. We are going to worry about those 2 that he didn't get, we'll get those ourselves.

Ok, so this is long hehe, but I have more to say!

Since we got the pics back, I can now finish Christmas presents...I was going to frame some and give to people for gifts. We finished my parents presents yesterday, we got them 2 gift cards for places. I got my friend's gift, and Chris'. I also took my sister shopping for people. Someone parked like a foot away from my driver's door at Wal-Mart too! I was so mad, I had to get in on the other side!

Anywho, we need to go to Wal-Mart today and get some pic frames.

Hm...so I haven't been on for a while again! I have so much catching up to do with every one. I have thought of so many things to update you all on and I can't remember them all. ...I got Guitar Hero III for Wii for Christmas so we've been playing that a bunch, we got a laundry sorter from my parents, and other stuff. Chris starts class again on Monday, so he needs to get his books...he's taking 6 classes this semester so hopefully the books won't be like $1000! Hehe, his luck is always that he has to buy the NEW books, no USED and they are about $100 each.

I went to the eye doctor just before the New Year, and ordered 2 boxes of contacts, I don't have insurance so I just paid half then, which was $85 and I forgot to pick them up today, so then I owe $84 when I get them. I don't have insurance so its all going on my credit card :(. Poo.

Chris had a bunch of overtime at work the past couple weeks so he'll be getting a nice check. I actually paid for gas in my car with CASH!, haven't done that for awhile! Hm...what else? I made $0.47 on my IRA that I just recently started hehe!

We have been considering looking for a house back home, our lease ends in April, and since Chris will hopefully be done with college in May, we may just extend our lease til then, so that month it'll be $600 instead of $550. Everyone tells us not to buy a house because we don't know where we'll end up, which is true. We just don't want to spend $600 or more on a really crappy apartment because ours is really nice for the price, and back home they aren't near this nice for the price. But since there are so many foreclosures, we thought maybe we could buy a decent house, and if we move, don't sell it but rent it out to my brother or something.

So that is an update on us. I'll try not to be a stranger again! Hehe.

So I will be working Friday-Monday now back home so I can be here Monday night - Friday afternoon. So, I've been in one of those moods where I feel like such a loser! The job search websites are pretty useless around here and feel like I'll never find a job! I just graduated last month but still! I would try to start my own thing right now but can't afford to because I need a steady income to cover loans and stuff. Arg.

Loser you are not. It does take time to find something you really want. It took me over four months to find a job I wanted and felt good about accepting. I know it is frusturating, but enjoy your time off because soon enough you will be a working full. In the meantime if you are still looking for work get a part time job or something to keep you busy. You will find something. Hang in there!

Yeah that Kohls that I applied at called someone that I know for an interview. But he's got retail experience too...poo! Yep, I guess. I still kinda want to find a local band to work with though...not sure exactly how to start, since I don't have experience with that either! Just and education...although people keep telling me to talk to the City Manager/President of Steamboat Days. Its an annual music festival where they have pop, country, and classic rock for a week. Its awesome, I love it! I want to work with artist relations, helping book them, and/or live music in the town. My dad told me to take my resume and cover letter down to him in person. I wouldn't even know what to say, and if he was busy I wouldn't want to bug him, I mean how good would that look? I think I might just mail it to him.

So our lease is up in April, might extend it to May but then it would be $600 for May. We pay $550/mo. We are planning on moving back to our hometown, which is about 45 minutes away, no big deal. The apartments there are not that nice as the ones here, and they are the same price or more. We are spoiled here! We have 2 bed, 2 bath, dishwasher, pantry, balcony w/ storage unit all for $550, and its really nice! We want something cheaper so we can save the difference, since we'll have loans to pay back soon. But we don't want to stay in a shack either! So we've been looking at houses! We thought that since it would be cheaper a month for a house loan than getting an apartment, we could also build up equity in that.

We have been talking about buying some land out in the country and building a house, that way we could have a brand new house that no one's lived in (which I like the idea of!), and we could have land to do something with. So then when that got built then we could just rent out the house instead of trying to sell it since the market is bad right now.

Everyone is telling us not to buy a house, its not a good idea right now, you don't know where you're going to end up, you might move away for a job, etc.... But they don't understand that if we rent an apartment or a house, its going to be a dump for what we would want to pay, and not enough room for all of our stuff, and therefore we'd get a storage unit and that would add extra cost.

Chris is trying to get on at Menards, a home improvement store in the Midwest, for those not familiar with it. Then he might be able to get a discount on a house plan, and building one would be a little cheaper. But being a manager there, he might have to move out to move up, and the same thing to get to the top. So that is why people don't want us to buy/build a house. I understand this, but we are thinking of how to save money now. If he just had to move away for say 2 years, then we'd keep the house we built to live in when we get back for example.

We have our limit on the price of a house to buy, this one was $67,900 and with nothing down, for 30 years would be about $380-400/month. Arg, just so frustrating. I already think I'm doomed for a job, so I don't care I guess!

On a different note...as if this isn't long enough!...my car alarm went off randomly a little while ago...interesting...I don't know if the battery in the keychain is going bad or what. I don't even know if that would do it. My keys had been sitting for a while, so I hadn't just put anything on top of them to hit the alarm button. Anywho...I have to go pick Chris up from class in about 35 minutes. His parents are coming over tonight to take us to eat. Chris' bday was on the 19th. We might go out for Chicken Lips....yum...my mouth is watering already! FYI, they are big breaded chicken strips cooked/fried and then dipped in hot sauce, served with Bleu Cheese or Ranch!

70707Bride
02-13-2008, 12:35 PM
Haven't posted in a while. Nothing really new going on with us. We finally got my car fixed yesterday. They said that the alarm kept going off because the hood latch was broken. That was kinda odd. So they replaced that yesterday. I don't even know how it could break. We've only opened the hood a few times since we got it and it wasn't any time recently.

And since my parents keep complaining that we have 3 vehicles, we have been looking a little more into getting rid of 2 of them to get a new one. Since we refinanced the Cobalt to add the Camaro, it is only costing us an additional $30 a month I think. Not that I really like that idea but Chris and his toys...! So we test drove a Dodge Avenger last night, I really liked them before but never had driven one. It was priced at $28000. So we were thinking that if we got what we wanted as a trade from the Cobalt and his truck, at a total of $14000 (yeah right), then we'd still owe the same that we do now for the car, but have one less vehicle. So why not just keep all 3? Except that my car is an '07 and things are going wrong with it? Warrenty is up in about 8K miles already. So don't even have to get a car til then!

I have to type up my reference page for my Kohls interview on Sunday. 4 professional references! I have 2 from assistant managers, one from a friend however never worked with him, and just asked a girl I work with who's under me. I'm thinking of just throwing in the one of the friend who's a Chief Meteorologist on TV for variety hehe. I've only really worked at 2 jobs, and I feel that if I just use people from both places it'll look like I don't know anyone else. But I don't know.

Well the interview went alright on Sunday at Kohls. It was indeed a group interview, but wasn't that bad. The weather was rainy, and was supposed to be freezing, I got there like 10 minutes early, wanted it to be sooner... Walked in and they asked if I had an appointment set, I said yes, and they asked if I already had an app filled out, I said yes...I think that was a plus! So I waited for a few minutes next to another Jessica hehe. And then they called out several names, then split into 2 groups of 10. One group went to one room, then we all said in a half circle, and were asked the same question.

They said that you don't need to worry about saying the same answer as someone else because they understand. I gave my own answer for each question. When asked the hours of availability a lot of people just said open anytime, I said anytime between 8am and 11pm, Sunday mornings off. I think being more specific is better. Then at the end, they went in the hall and discussed the apps. Came back in and said that 4 people need to stay to "clarify some things on the apps". I was one of them, everyone else was dismissed to leave/go home. Then they said we had to go back to the other room and fill out some info on references! I don't think we had to clarify anything, I think they narrowed it down! So as far as I know, I got thru to the next round?!

Oh, and a lot of people who didn't get picked, didn't dress that nice, said the same answer as a few other people, and one lady asked how much they pay!! Um...that's an interview NO! Some people just sounded so desperate.

I put full-time on my app, but they only do part-time customer service positions, so now I need to look for my full-time job!...doing something...arg.

A group interview that is kinda odd... Do they do that often? I hope you hear about the job soon!! At least hopefully partime can lead to full time!
What a great deal in the sweatshirt, I love sweatshirts I live in them. LOL

I wear the same hoodies all the time, I wanted a different one hehe. I guess Kohls does do group interviews a lot, but I don't know if that's every time the hire or just when a new store opens.

Chris is trying to get on at Menards in the management program, they are building a lot of new stores and are expanding west. He graduates in May, and hopefully he can start part-time, get thru the program here and then be ready to move up and out by May, so we don't have to look for apartments back home, that would be so much better. Lol. But he needs to find out ASAP if he can do that. I hope so.

Yay! So yesterday when I was at work, I got this call from a weird number that I didn't know. I couldn't answer it. They didn't leave a message, so I called it back on break and it was Kohls! They hired me and I'll be making more there than I do currently. I go in for orientation next Sunday. I had to tell my manager hehe about it but she's cool with it, and me working both places.

Today at work I dropped a pair of scissors on my right hand and it hurt so bad! I didn't get cut but I think it was the blade that hit my hand where it hurts. I can't grasp anything and I think its just gonna bruise, and of course I'm a righty! And I work for 9 hours tomorrow...great.

Well Chris found another Camaro Z28 that he wants. Its only $5600 in better condition and only has 60,500 miles on it! Its a '98. Its black but isn't a t-top like the one we have now. He just has to find someone to buy the one he has and then I'll let him get it!...and I hope he does!

Thanks! I put an ice pack on my hand all last night. I wrapped it in a towel so it wouldn't be so cold! I went to bed with it too. Hehe, and woke up around 2:30 am and it was all liquidy so I got up and put it in the freezer. My hand didn't really bruise. It still hurts a little but not nearly as much!

Lol, its not possible to stop me from hurting myself!

So Saturday I wanted to go see this local band back home, my two concert buddies were pooping out on me, so I made Chris go, and my aunt actually wanted to go (she used to work with their dad years ago). I am in love with them and Chris is jealous of them, but he hasn't been to a show for a while so he should go! LOL. So here are a few pics of the Gibbs Brothers and Eric Brittingham of Cinderella is playing bass for them currently, his band Naked Beggars were there too...they're touring together so he can play bass for them:

It was their Birthday Bash (Bday was Sunday), they're twins, so here is

Well I feel stupid! I went to orientation at Kohls yesterday, and I had to show my drivers license. She came back and asked if I knew it was expired! I changed my name on it in July after getting married, but forgot that it still expired in November! So I have to go take the test tomorrow, I hope I pass! I should, but if not I'll drive anyway, I have places to be! Lol.

I haven't taken the test yet, I have to wait for Chris to be done with classes. I think he'll be done at like 1:45 or so. The only thing that I couldn't remember was the distances, like don't have your brights on how many feet from a car and stuff like that. I found a study book online so hehe, I've been looking at it. I passed the test the first time I took it ever. I should pass it, I just don't want to have to drive! I don't think I will but it might be random. Chris said his mom's expired for a while once and she just had to take the test, my mom's friend had her's expire and just had to take the test. Arg, I hate this! Lol! I don't know why they couldn't have just renewed it when I changed my name. It said up to a year before it actually expired you can renew it! I blame them! Hehe.

OMG I have dealt with those mannequins and the giant staples, too, when I worked at Kohl's. It kind of sucks, but it's kind of fun if you got to like to put them together and stuff. I'm glad you got the job and everything, and I hope it goes well for you! Oh and that sucks about your license. I hate dealing with the DMV, it's never fun!

Well I've been trying to purchase these pants that are on clearance off the Kohls website and it keeps saying that it can't process my credit card. All the info is correct and its still not working. It was being weird yesterday too and so I emailed them and asked my questions and they got back to me pretty quick. But I sent my credit card question earlier today and still haven't heard anything. The pants are $16 from $40! I don't buy clothes online because I'd prefer to try them on, but since there is a Kohls in town now I can just return it! Lol. Arg, I hope it starts working soon...off to play more Super Mario Bros 3 on Wii!....its my turn! LOL.

I was a manager in training. It was okay, but overall I didn't like it. I think it had more to do with the store manager then the job, though. Well I brought the rest of the wedding bubbles home with me and was thinking of listing them on eBay. They are still decorated too lol, with the ribbons. I was just looking through the Sell and Trade forum and thought about posting them on there. Since it is a wedding forum, it might sell better here! Hehe, but who knows. When it gets closer to another school semester we might list some college books online. Chris has like 27 that they didn't buy back! And we are going to be in need for some extra cash soon...poo.

So this has been a random day! Ok, so we have been trying to sell Chris's truck for a few months. No one has called about it until today, which also today some kid was really interested in the Camaro to buy. He was gonna see if he could get another $1000 from his parents. This girl that was looking at the truck lives in our apartment complex too, she's looking for a truck for her dad. She said she had walked past it for a few weeks, and waited until today to call! That is so weird. Two people in one day?! Odd.

I hadn't been able to drive a manual and was telling Chris that I never even got to drive the Camaro, and now he might get rid of it. So we took some back roads home and he basically made me try when we were about 10 minutes from home. (I had only tried twice before, once in my parent's truck and once in FIL's Mazda.) I made it home! Lol, only stalled it twice! Now I don't want him to get rid of that! LOL. Both of our parents told us to sell both then get something cheaper, well the truck is paid off, and the Camaro is on the same loan as the Cobalt so basically what would be cheaper? Nothing. We need two cars.

Ok, enough about that...

...I had listed my old phone's manual on eBay a few times a while ago, and no one bid. I listed it last week again, and it ended today, I signed on and it said someone bought it! LOL. I thought that was so funny, I hated that phone. It was only $0.99, nothing great. I basically just wanted to see if it'd sell. So woohoo to me! Hehe.

So then, later the pants weren't even available in my size anymore! I was so mad, but yesterday I bought a shirt on there, and figured out the right address hehe. It was on sale for like $7.99 and then $0.99 to ship. This is it:
