So far we are buying the masquerade masks to use as favors and part of the centerpieces are antique lanterns. Any other suggestions?

I think that's the coolest idea ever!!! Can't WAIT to see how this one pans out.

Normally, I don't like 'em much, but for this I see deep red roses with not a lot of filler. Lots of candles. If you're having a buffet, I'd put a big candelabra in the middle of it. Maybe one on the bar too, if you're having one.

The colors I see are black, white and red.

Mmmm...can't wait to see more ideas!

I was thinking about making a ring of rose petals around the lanterns and using black tablecloths. The lanterns will have the little tealite candles in them and they have a really neat design on them that will reflect on the tables. I'm trying to get this old opera house in my area to have the reception but I'm waiting to hear back from them. *crosses fingers*

Candelabras centerpieces?

Could you hire singers (dressed in Phantom of the Opera garb) to sing a couple of songs at the reception?

Themed cake topper?

You might design your invites to look like theatre tickets and your programs to look like Phantom programs.

I am not sure if it was here or on another board but I read of someone who rented out an old theatre. They were married on the stage and their reception was held in the lobby.

That is an awesome idea!!

I'd do the candelabras in wrought iron, though. Personally, I wouldn't put flowers on them, but maybe drape some deep red fabric through them.

I'd have the lights turned down really low.

It'd be really cool if you could hire an actor to be the phantom of the opera and kinda hide and sneak around all night, and the guest to catch him got...IDK...something.

It's actually a music box (which would make a lovely keepsake after the wedding) -

I have just found the perfect spot for my wedding. There's on old opera house about 15 minutes away from me and for 10 hours they only want $470 and it includes tables and linens. Now I'm just waiting for them to get back to me. Wish me luck!

Okay I finally got my lanterns in that are going to be used as part of the center pieces and I never posted pictures here before so I hope they show up and that I'm doing this right.

Maybe a vase of feathers. They's be kind of long, like drooping over the vase. They'd be your wedding colors. You could probably incorporated his mask in there somewhere. And maybe your table cloth could be black with red seqins or crystals in flame shapes. That kind of thing.

That's such an interesting theme for a wedding! What made you think of it?

My FH and I are both huge "POTO" fans. Plus I was a drama student and all that jazz and the moment I read "Phantom" I fell in love. And we always wanted a less traditional themed wedding and I always wanted a masquerade thing so we went with it. My FH even found a suit almost identical to the Phantom's.

I really do love this idea. The lanterns will look great. I also think it would be great to incorp. the music. Is that what you are planning? If so which songs?

I'm not sure what songs we're using yet but we have a few "POTO" songs.

I LOVE this theme!!! Are the lanterns a deep turqoise inside? This color is so regal, you could definitely run with it for an accent with black and white! Can't wait to see all you come up with!

I don't know how many guests you're having, this idea would probably only work for up to like, 60, but everyone sitting at one long table like in the movies about that era with the two of you at the head of the table could look very lavish and period.

I found POTO toasting flutes on Ebay. Yay! Talk about incorperating the theme. LoL. I pretty much got everything I need now. I even found the masquerade masks for cheap. I'm going out to the Opera house tomorrow morning with my FMIL so let's hope that goes well.

The owners of the opera house had a family emergency and had to go out of town early this morning. So we're going Tuesday afternoon. But this works out better because originally it was just going to be me and my FMIL but since it got rescheduled to Tuesday my FH will also be able to go. Which makes the situation a lot more comfortable than just me and his mom. LoL.

Half of the masquerade masks came in today. I got half on Ebay and half through Oriental Trading. The ones from ebay came in and they look pretty good. and my toasting flutes came in as well and they are beautiful. I'll get pictures up soon! Things have been a little hectic. I was admitted to the hospital the other night for ulcers (ugh) so as soon as I remember what I did with my camera I'll put up pics of the toasting flutes. Thanks to everyone whose showing interest in this theme and helping with ideas. It means a lot to me.

For those of you who still read this post, I went and looked at the opera house today.
It's beautiful and my date is open. I have to talk it over with my fiance first and if we want it, I book it tomorrow morning.
The only thing is since the wedding will be on a Saturday, I have to take it for the full day of 12 hours at $775 which is $300 more than what we planned but for 12 hours ya can't beat that.

I agree if that is what you want then you so do it. Besides you can't beat having a venue with history. It just adds to your whole theme.

I finally was able to book the opera house today. I paid the $300 deposit and found out that they will supply some of the decorations. Yay! I'm so excited. If anyone wants to see pictures of the opera, visit my MySpace at www.myspace.com/abandonhopes (http://www.myspace.com/abandonhopes).
For some reason, I can't find the pics on my computer so I only have them on my MySpace.

Oh my gosh I LOVEEEE Phantom of the Opera! This will be so beautiful! I definitely think you need TONS of candles, because the Phantom himself loves them. I think it would be gorgeous to play "Think of Me" on the violin while you walk down the aisle.. Maybe somehow incorporate red roses with black ribbons? Velvet tablecloths would fit into the theme very well or maybe deep red curtains/drapes?

I think your invites should be sealed with wax!!!! Maybe even a note from "OG"

I don't know if your centerpieces are set yet, but it might look neat to have sheet music of the songs as a base. (Like some people put candles on a mirror, you could put your lanterns on sheet music, if that makes sense. Good luck with getting all your thins and keep us posted:D
