I am still pretty new to one wed, and I have posted several replys and started a few threads. The first thing I remember reading was that if you spammed you would get banned right a way. I have noticed several members have been banned lately, and was wondering if there is a list some where of the things that will get you banned. I did a search for banned in the fourms but didn't find much. Is there a list somewhere that says other things you can get banned for?

The site's terms of service (the box you checked when you registered) pretty much covers most of it, but in general, so long as your replies are respectful, aren't spam (constantly pimping our your own business), and aren't obscene, I don't think you have much worry about getting banned. :)

There are things in the terms of service as well as a few unwritten rules (such as respect and courtesy and general online etiquette) that if violated will result in banning.

In general spam/advertisements should only go in the "Announcements & Opportunities" forum, however abuse of this can also result in being banned.

Being mean, rude, overly vulgar and/or bashing others in your posts can get you banned. Bad mouthing the board and/or promoting other conflicting sites can also result in being banned; as well as abusing the PM system, such as sending unsolicited spam or harassing messages.

Basically we just want everyone to have fun and be friendly and not to have to worry about spam. We look at offending situations on a per case basis and go from there.

As always if anyone sees something questionable you can report it to the moderators and we will take a look at it.

I remember reading terms of service, they had the usual items you get banned for. I would hate to think because I did't know something that I would get banned for something I said or something. I have been trying to be very careful in what I post and where I post it just for that reason. As I said in the first post to this thread, I have been seeing lots of banned under names lately and do not want to end up one of them.

I have not noticed anything ban worthy you have done so don't worry ;)

We usually try to give active members a heads up warning when something crosses a line. So you are in that category now, so if something crosses a line you will know.

The only people that are banned without warning are hard core offenders or those that just join and all they do is spam or what not. I am pretty sure the people that have been banned lately have been either hard core offenders or warned of some offence and didn't listen.

We are not out to ban people just for the heck of it, we are just trying to keep the place running smooth and keep it a fun and friendly place.

I love WebLady's reply :) Being in live theatre for a living my language is pretty, well . . . salty. Not obscene (I don't use a lot of 4 letter words) but there's not an innuendo I don't know, and let's just say that my sense of humor is a little warped . . .

*grin*

I make a point of cleaning it up when I post to this forum. Sometimes in the chat room I let myself go a little but it's not hard to post without being vulgar, even if sometimes I read whatever I wrote over and cringe, because to be it's pedantic, flat and boring.

I got warned about having a big signature once . . . but I fixed the problem right away and haven't had anything else happen since.
