Any Winter weddings coming up? I wonder about the different ways to avoid the snow on the shoes and gown  I wonder what it is like where they have snow all the time?

A bride I know plans on having her tables center piece as a big blue candle surrounded by white fluff and silver stars sparklres strewn over the tables. On her head tables a white horse drawn carriages on the ends. With tha Big candles for bride and groom.

Winter weddings can be so beautiful! No chance of me shooting one here in the deep south! We're normally running around in shorts in December. We may have a few days of cold weather.

I've got a December wedding this year. The wedding colors are chocolate brown with green and white as an accent. On the alter will be some bare birch tree branches and some that are sugared to simulate ice crystals, and votive candles placed throughout. The ladies bouquets are a cascade style, with phaleonopsis orchids & curly willow branches hanging down. The grooms boutonniere will be winter berries instead of a flower. Their unity candle will be on a free-standing metal stand. Near the entry of the reception they're renting a couple 3 ft metal trees that they'll hang favors off of (considering rosemary sachets, and packets of hot chocolate mix). Candles under hurricane glass with greenery & branches as centerpieces. The cake will have some icing branches on the sides with a few fresh orchids, with some greenery, branches and votives on the cake table as well. It will be more of a modern, minimal, "bare winter" look. It should be very beautiful -- a nice, clean, elegant feel.

I was at a new year wedding last year. The ceremony was held in a church that still had all their christmas decorations up. On the alter with them was a huge decorated Christmas tree, it made for a very nice looking backdrop. They did not even have to paid to buy any extra decorations, there were so many already.

I also have a "winter wedding" in just under 2 weeks!
The church will be decorated for Christmas, hopefully the sheep and other characters from the Nativity will not be a problem!
At the hotel reception, it is going to be gorgeous! She is not really using typical winter colors, but going bold and elegant. All white linens with red, black and silver accents, with roses as the main feature. Centerpieces are white tree branches decorated with silver and white glitter, with roses entwined throughout. Favors are hand etched christmas ornaments, hung in front of each place setting. Eight white pencil christmas trees decorate the room as well as two large traditional size christmas trees.
We are using spotlights and projected snowflakes on the dance floor, as well as spotlights accenting the entryway to the ballroom, guest book, and floor plan.
The wedding cake is four tiers and five satellite cakes! French vanilla, belgian chocolate, and strawberry with buttercream frosting. Almost 50 royal icing snowflakes to decorate the whole cake, and 2 tiers of red roses with a red rose topper.
Should be beautiful!

If you are worried about keeping the gown dry- and you warm, you can rent a cape. Many tux shops have white faux fur that works perfect with wedding dresses.

One thing that I am doing to avoid the snow is... I am getting dressed at my location. I don't have to worry about it - and I won't look like rudolph walking in out of the cold.
Just remember...
you can have champagne taste with beer money!

Mostlikely, your venues will have taken came of the snow removal prior to you getting there. And you can ask you're ride to drop you as close to the door as possible. If it is snowing that day.
I have seen alot of really pretty capes with hoods (kinda like red riding hood style but white, and elegant) That would be perfect for keeping you warm and the dress clean.
Good luck!

My wedding is a "western christmas" theme. It is dec 18th.
My colors are DARK red and silver. I'm wearing Maggie Sottero's "Capri" and my husband will be wearing his cowboy hat and boots, as will the ring bearer. We are having christmas trees at the reception and wreaths on the tables. We are using Black Magic roses and plumosus in the floral arrangments. I can't wait! I will definitely have to post pics!

I was talking about winter/Christmas theme weddings just the other day. Here are some ideas ...
For themed weddings like a Christmas wedding, you might have your florist design your centerpieces like miniature trees. You can use hanging ornaments with a picture of you and your spouse (or other small ornament can be used) as wedding favors and hang them on the centerpiece trees. As an alternative to the miniature tree centerpieces, consider decorating one table with a tree-like arrangement and hang all your ornament favors on there for your guests to take one.
I shot a wedding last December where the bride wore a white Fur shawl and carried one of those muff things for the pictures. I think they did the flowers in red and silver and they also used poinsettias.
Best of luck to all!

haha, I know what you mean!
But I'm in the deep south and I'm still having a winter Wonderland wedding...the "wonderland" is the key word, b/c it's totally a fantasy. We hardly ever get snow here, so that's kinda I want to have one so bad. We're just using fake snow and snow blankets to create the look we want. I can't wait - it's gonna be lots of fun! Especially since nobody around here ever has one.

There will be no snow here. It's only snowed here a couple of times in my life, but I am stilll having my theme!

You can always find a place where it is covered. A winter wedding pictures are always nice to look at.

Just make sure the place where people will walk is dry so they won't slip :)
