View Full Version : Scroll Wedding Programs?

When FH and I ordered our invites, we also ordered custom seals. Well, the seals are really too big for the invites (they interfere with the "envelope" decoration). We thought of using scroll programs, and then use the seals rather than ribbon on them. Any thoughts, ideas on how to make these?

I thought about getting some thinner cardstock, and trimming the edges but don't really know where to start on this.

Thanks ladies.

I think it would be fine to just use nice paper and roll it up (with blank side out); that sounds like a pretty easy project.

If you do that you can get decorative scissors at a craft store or maybe even wal-mart or k-mart. I'm not sure I'd stick the seal directly onto the paper though, it might ripe trying to open. Maybe take a piece of paper and wrap it around the paper then put the seal on that. Hope that helps!

If you want to give them an aged look - before you print them, dab vinegar on the paper and hold the paper over a heat source. This will darken the paper where you have applied the vinegar. You can even char the edges with a candle flame.

Ooooooh, now that's a cool idea! I'd love to do something like that, but it would clash with our theme, I think.

Can't wait to see the progress on this!

Ooooh Elizabeth, something like that might look good with our Victorian look.

As far as scroll programs go...by the way I love them :D ...

I found this info about the type of paper you may want to use:
The paper for a scroll-type wedding program should be no heavier than 32 lb.; if it is heavier, you will have difficulties rolling it and keeping it in a roll. A 24 lb. bond paper, available by the ream at an office supply store, will do nicely for the purpose.

i had done a beach message in a bottle with aged parchment that was standard weight without a problem. they weren't that hard to roll. the problem you might find with the seal is that it won't hold the roll together. you might have to use the ribbon to keep it a a tight roll and the seal on top of it or something.
