Sara and Mike... We're Married!

After so many months of planning we finally did it! :)

Where to begin. Well we woke up pretty early on the day of the rehearsal. Neither of us could sleep! We had done a lot of packing the night before so really all we had to do was pack the car and get on the way. The day before I had woken up with some pretty intense nausea, which I had attributed to just nerves. I was just thankful this wasn't the case today!

We arrived at Mike's parents house really early. Thankfully we did because not even 5 minutes later my cousin Angie (BM) had arrived with her husband and family. They left South Bend, IN that morning at about 6 to get to the rehearsal. We were able to catch up a little bit before the other guests started to arrive. Angie and her husband Drew kept commenting on how calm I was. I was fine, not nervous, just excited.

Since Mike is a huge Detroit Tiger's fan we decided to make our rehearsal Tiger's themed. We asked everyone in the Bridal Party to wear something Tigers- even some of the guests did.

This is the cake, it turned out really cool! It was really good too!

The luncheon was a lot of fun. I should probably mention that we did our rehearsal backwards. We wanted to do a casual backyard bbq. Mike's parents yard was perfect! Since the place we were getting married was about an hour away and we didn't want to drive back and forth (most were staying up at the Inn for both Friday and Saturday) we decided to have the bbq first. Then once that was over everyone would head up to the St Clair Inn and the actual rehearsal was set for 6pm.

Originally we asked Mike's brother Jim to help with the cooking (burgers and hot dogs). Once we told him the guest list was almost 50 he decided to have it catered. He paid for the whole thing as his wedding gift to us.
The food was good, we had of course burgers and hot dogs with chicken, 3 different kinds of salads, a veggie plate and I'm sure there's something I'm forgettting.

All of a sudden it was time to start heading up to St Clair. The place cleared out pretty quickly. I think even Mike's parents took off before we did. Mike and I drove up with my sister and his best man following.

There was some confusion when we checked in. Mike had originally reserved a jacuzzi suite. I was going to stay there by myself on Friday and he was going to stay with Vichit (best man). Then he would move over on Saturday. We didn't have the suite! So we had to go back down which of course they fixed it. My cousins room was also messed up. We had reserved for her and her family a room with 2 double beds. There are 4 of them. When they got to their room they had one bed and supposedly a pull out couch-but there was no couch. They had to switch twice until they got it right. Of course the lady at the front desk got an attitude. It all got fixed though.

Then it was time to relax until the rehearsal.

Sounds like you had a great time! Catering is much easier as well, allows you to relax!! I still cannot believe you are married. Its so fantastic. Can't wait to see more pictures. I can just tell you are glowing!

It really was a great time. It just went by so fast!
You can't believe it- me either! That's what Mike and I keep saying to eachother, "we're married." Weird!

So where were we?
Oh yes, the rehearsal. It went pretty smooth actually. We only did a couple run-thru's. Like expected Mya, our flower girl did not want to cooperate. James, our ring bearer, wasn't there. He and his family came up on Saturday. His mom, as you may know, had her baby a week prior to the wedding. She ended up getting her dress altered at the last minute and planned on being at the wedding AND standing up. She decided it would be best if she stayed home from the rehearsal and got the extra rest.
So, with James not being there we asked Mya's cousin Justin to stand in as the ring bearer for the rehearsal. He was all for it! They just wanted to play and run around. Then when it was time to walk Mya threw a fit and we just said, forget it. We'll see what happens at the ceremony.

After the rehearsal everyone kind of did their own thing. Mike went to dinner with Vichit (his best man) and his family. I went to dinner a little later with my family. I was starting to get a little annoyed with him since he was not around. He was mostly with Vichit and some other people. Later on he finally came down to the deck where I was with my family. That is when the rumors of me being pregnant started!

My cousin's husband Drew saw me rub my belly for whatever reason. He pulled me aside and asked me if I was pregnant. Then all of a sudden word spread like wild fire- is Sara pregnant?? At the time I didn't think so. Kind of funny how it worked out.
I did find out the next day when I had breakfast with my sister that my mom even thought I was pregnant. She said that mom saw something different in me and wondered. Hmm, I guess a mom knows huh? Too bad I didn't at the time! :)

After hanging around on the deck with everyone til about midnight. We called it a night. Mike, Vichit and I said good night to everyone and headed up to our rooms. Mike walked me up to my room and we said good night. He said, "the next time I'll see you will be the wedding!"
He left to go to his room and I decided that since I was still pretty anxious about the next day that I would use the jacuzzi. Hoping that it would relax me so I can get some sleep. Nice try!
It did work, a little. I still ended up sleeping for MAYBE 4 1/2 hours. I felt like a little kid waiting for Santa Claus!

The day of the wedding I got up probably about 8. I gave up on trying to sleep. My parents were up at about 6 and wanted to go to breakfast early. The night before I told them I didn't want to get up that early and wanted to try to sleep in a little bit. When I got up I wished I would have gone with them! Anyway, I took a shower and called my mom to see where they were. They had already gone to breakfast and were just hanging around in their room. No one else was up and around yet.
I called to see if my sister was up and she was. She had just taken a shower and was actually looking for me. We decided that we should go to breakfast since it might be a while before we ate again. We only had about an hour before she had to get her hair done so we walked across the street to a little restaurant. She even paid, that was a nice suprise!

The rest of the morning went pretty fast. My mom hired one of the girls from the salon she works with to come and help with everyone's hair. She did a really nice job! Even with my stubborn sister. I would have liked everyone to have their hair up but she really wanted to wear hers down. Instead of fighting with her I just said, do what you want. Her hair turned out great! My sister has always been pretty low-maintanance and kind of tom boyish. She looked absolutely gorgeous at the wedding!

Yep, I suppose you're right about that one.
My cousin even said that I kept our family tradition alive- just about all the women in our family were pregnant on the day of their wedding. We had a good laugh about it. :)

On the day of the wedding Mike was supposed to go golfing. The place we got married was really not that big. We decided that we were not going to see eachother until the wedding so that was his way of not being around. I was fine with it as long as he didn't get sunburned!

After I talked to my parents that morning I headed down to their room and then out to the deck to wait for my sister. This place was also very easy to get turned around it. There was no rhyme or reason to the way the rooms were numbered, it was just weird. So I'm walking so far out of my way to get outside and who do I run into? Yep, Mike! We pretty much opened the door at the same time, although he was coming from the direction I was going. I was suprised to see him since he was supposed to tee off at 8 and it was almost 9:30.
We laughed about running into eachother, figuring it would have had to happen. He told me that he didn't sleep AT ALL that night, maybe 2 hours. He was nervous and excited and just couldn't sleep. Hmmm, I know the feeling! He said the guys went without him and he was trying to get some sleep. It didn't happen. He even said he came thisclose to coming down to my room at 3 in the morning because he just couldn't sleep. I told him he could have, I was up too! Too funny.

I managed to not see him again until I was sitting on the deck waiting for my sister. He went for a walk in the park and came back walking on the dock. My dad even saw him this time and told him to go the other way! Then we told him we've already seen eachother. Dad just laughed at us and said something like, that's what you get for trying not to see eachother in such a small space. And who believes in that seeing eachother before your wedding is bad luck?

me neither! My mom took my phone away from me. I wanted to call him to ask him about the invitations, but she was like NOOOOOOOO haha it was really funny. But I must say it meant more not to have talked to him. :)

yeah I didn't get to even talk to Matt either, let alone see him! My mom did talk to him on the phone beside me, and I could faintly hear his voice if I tried really hard to hear it hehe

We never really planned to not talk to eachother. In fact I think we may have talked to eachother quite a few times. In fact, I think this is a picture of him talking to me on the phone:

The minister was looking for the marriage license, which either Mike had or Vichit had. We even have this moment captured on video. He doesn't even say hello when he answers the phone. It was "We're right in the middle of pictures!"

Yep, we definitely had a good laugh about it.
The minute the phone rings his mom says, "Oh come on!"
Then he answers and the pictures continue.

He even heard his phone buzzing during the ceremony! He said he felt it but then thought who the heck could be calling me, everyone I know is HERE. Turns out it was my mom. She called him about 15 minutes before the ceremony started, he was supposed to be somewhere and they couldn't find him. Until he figured out that she didn't call him during the ceremony he kept wondering why she would call him then? It was pretty funny.

I haven't been on a whole lot lately. Life's been keeping me pretty busy! It's still hard to believe that Mike and I have been married a little over a month. It doesn't feel much different, until I look at that ring on his left hand and think, WOW!

Anyway, we finally got our pictures back from the photographer. They came in a book and believe me they are very hard to scan. I almost wish she would have had them online. But then again it's kind of nice to have them like this. And we get to keep the book. It's gonna be soooo hard to pick out just a few we really like for the album. My mom's got a list for herself of over 25 pictures! We only get 36. I think I've scanned that many so far and haven't even done all of the really good ones yet!

So, I thought I would post some pictures. I've only begun to scan them. It takes forever since they are so small. Here is a preview of what I've done so far. I'll try to get more up over the weekend. Until then, enjoy! :)

Update: we're officially pregnant. 10 weeks today and the first ultrasound is a week from Wednesday. We probably won't be able to see much yet, this one pretty much tells exactly how far along and hopefully we'll get a due date. We just tell people somewhere around March 1st.
