Last night after a very heated incident with the bridal shop my girls received a full refund for the dresses. I don't want to get into the entire deal but the dress shop owner lied to me and took back what she said on Monday and all she wanted me to do was walk out with purple dresses. She pushed and pushed and pushed me to my limit..I stood my ground and walked out with the refund for the girls and my wedding gown.

So, we are now back to square one. We are going to a very reliable branch of David's Bridal to get the BM dresses. I'm going to pick out a color to match the vests and ties the groomsman will wear and we will choose a style that comes in that color basically. My question is, I would prefer the girls to just find a style that they like best and not have them all the same..

Would it look funny if some of the girls wore tea length dresses and other wore long dresses?? Thanks for you help on this I really appreciate it.

I'm proud you stood your ground. Good for you. I have been watching a TON of wedding shows lately and that is very much in style and acceptable to have them wear different styles in the same color. Good Luck!

Wait a sec. Did you say you got a refund for your wedding gown?

I personally like the idea of the girls wearing different styles, but I would keep them all the same length.

I think as long as they somewhat match in colors, everyone can do their own style. My girls did. And I thought they looked amazing. They didn't even buy them at the same store. I think Amanda got hers from Old Navy, Darcy from JCPenney's and Tabitha from somewhere in our tiny mall.

Thank you ladies...Yeah..I was considering some wearing tea lengths and some wearing longer gowns but I'm not sure how well that would look..

No, I did not get a refund on my wedding gown just the girls' dresses that's all. We were to go up there last night and choose a different color dress under their quick shipment through Alexia. She never showed me those dresses nor had them out. I had already told her on Monday that those dresses we have are unacceptable. She pulled a dress out that matched the dress color we ordered trying to tell me that was the dress she held up. I told her that wasn't the dress. I remember looking at the tag and even worte in the the contract she signed that she held up a moique dress in Wine. This dress was in the red family. She agrgued about that and said I was wrong. As well, she wanted me to change everything I have purchased so far for the wedding to accomdate these purple dresses and she just wouldn't stop pushing. I kept quiet most of the time and listenend to what she had to say until finally I said look these dresses won't work, this is not what we ordered we are here to either choose quick shipment dresses or the girls get a refund. She said, "I never said that" I flashed the contract and I said that's it I had it with you and your lies. I'm tired of being lied to and pushed into something I don't want. Give me the girls refund and my wedding dress I'm done. We walked out then with the check and my gown!

Anyhow, it's behind us and now we quickly need to decide on the bm dresses tonight. I'm just not sure if the mix will work of tea length and long.

Can they all get together to go shopping and try different styles on? That way you would get an idea of how they would look together. I'm sure it will all come together and look beautiful, no matter what you decide.

how many BM do you have? I think the differing lengths *might* be ok. If say the MOHs had one length and other girls had a different length, or if your party alternated every other one. It just all depends. And who knows, they may all decide on the same dress. Good Luck!

I have an idea....Go to the Davids Bridal website and click the Dress your Wedding tab. You can add your bridesmaids, dress them in different lengths and see how it looks. It might give you more of an idea.

personally i think if they are going to be the same color, they need to be the same length, even if they arent the same style. i think someone else on OW ran into a problem where she let her girls pick different stuff and only ONE girl stood out by picking something different and then she wasnt even the MOH and it was a big confusion. Stick to the same length if possible. Also, did you say your girls are doing RED???? if thats the case, make them get the dresses at the same place at least so its the same unified color. My color is supposed to be red but i am rethinking this b/c the color of different 'reds' change sooo sooo much :)

good luck

Yeah, the color of red I do got down to a "T". I have the tie from the place we ordered our tuxes from in the color we have ordered. So matching it won't be hard to do. I'm not worried about the color at all. I did the david bridal website thing and it doesn't look right..So, we'll just have to either go with all long dresses if that is the case maybe in different styles but the type of material should be the same. My cousin doesn't want tea length because her tatoo will show!?! So, that is why I'm cautious about getting them. She may just have to suck it up and live with it this time. I may not have many style options for the girls.

I have 6 BM's total so at least 3 of them are going tonight and trying on dresses to see what they like and what not. I'm excited about this!!

That is great you stood your ground and got a full refund.

I would have them all wear close to the same length my girls are all wearing tea length but i don't care if they wear different ones.

i think as long as they are the same color they would look better being the same length. even if different styles i would get the same length. i don't think (and this is my opinion) that they would look good in completely different lengths.

Well at least you got the refund and weren't stuck with dresses you hated.

I agree about the same length; I would rather see different styles as long as they are similar colors rather than the different lengths. If the MOH's dress was different that would be ok though.

But I am sure you guys can find something else that will work for you. Good luck!
