Well, I have been on this website for awhile now, so I guess I should start a journal. Here it goes.....
I met Doug online over 7 years ago. We really hit it off. I lived in Michigan, and he lived in Illinois. So i am thinking, ok, how are we going to meet?!? He actually drove to my parents house over a weekend in June of 2000. We had such a great time together, we stayed up almost all night talking. It was hard to see him go back to Illinois. We talked on the phone ALL THE TIME. My cell phone bill was absolutely HUGE! (this was before the great packages that are out now). I think I drove out every weekend to see him, and when i couldn't he would drive to see me. (I think we only missed one weekend due to bad weather)
I was really starting to hate my job with a passion at this point. My boss was not liking the fact that I was going out there every weekend (what business is it of hers?!) And the reason for that was, I made her work more easy cause she worked 2 1/2 days from home and the other 2 1/2 days in the office. She would fear that I would leave.
January 2001 I quit my job and never looked back. I moved to Illinois to be with Doug. In March/April 2001 we decided to build a house! I was so excited and happy. I found a job the same day I moved out here (thanks to him finding the ad in the paper) I am still with that company 6 years later.
We are a happy little family with our 4 year old golden retriever named Summit. :D
This past February we became engaged on our ski trip to the Upper Pennisula. The place was awesome, we even got to take the fur child. The day that we were having to leave, it was snowing so hard. We were taking Summit for her last walk in the woods before we headed home, he said we should check her paws cause it looked like there was snow in her pads. As we were looking at her paws, he was down on one knee, with the fur child between us, and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes. And it is about time! ( 7 YEARS!!!)
So, to current date, we are looking to have a Lake Mead wedding on May 17, 2008. We are at the very early planning stages, but I know what I want in my visions. We will not be having and attendants in the wedding. We just want everyone to be casual and enjoy the moment. We will be inviting immediate family, his aunt and uncle who we are really close too, his grandma, and 2 couples that are really close friends. We are planning to have the reception on the Lake Mead cruise boats (Missisippi paddlewheel style boats). We are taking 2 weeks vacation to do this, as we are driving with the fur child out west.
well, that is all that i can think of right now!
