I was just thinking about my parents wedding. Do you all know anything about your parents wedding?

My mom had 5 bridesmaids i think. And someone made all the dresses for them. THey were all the same style dresses but all in different colors (not cute,,but maybe it was back then! lol). Her dress was crazy fancy. Long sleeves, all lace. And super super long. I think my dad had a light tux on too.

My parents are divorced, but I remember hearing about their wedding. My mom wore a peach flowing wedding gown. My dad had a brown suit on. My mom had babys breath in her hair that was super curly. She made her own food, own wedding dress etc. She looked SOO pretty. But it was super small in their backyard. She didn't have any bridesmaids or anything and just got married in her bare feet outside. They exchanged small wedding rings and that was that.

When my dad married my Stepmom it was a bit more traditonal as she was MUCH younger. My dad wore a tux (Showed up drunker then a skunk but that is another story) My Stepmom wore a traditional wedding dress and had her dad walk her down the aisle. They got married outside by the lake. She had two bridesmaids wearing lilac and my dad had my Uncle be his best man. He showed up in a limo etc. Then they got married, did the first dances, did the cake cutting etc etc. So it was VERY tradtional for them. Kinda strange to see your father get married I must say. haha

My parents had a fairly traditional wedding from what I know about. They were married in a church by my great grandfather (mother's side) and only had two attendants. The best man was my grandfather and the MOH was my aunt.

Here is a pic ...

Yeah it is a veil; I always thought it was silly, but it was 1969/70 ;)

That's such a neat picture Brandi. Thank you for sharing it. My mother's been married 3 times and never had a wedding. Her first marriage ended in a nasty divorce, her second marriage was to my father and he passed away, and now she's married to the man I call Dad. They've been married 24 years. Their 25th anniversary is next year and I'm going to throw them a party at our church, complete with "wedding" cake...the traditional 3 tiered cake. She's so excited. She says "I've never had a wedding cake before!"

But anyhoo...it was Justice of the Peace in Springfield, TN for her.

my parents were married in 1960 and my mother wore a beautiful long sleeved wedding dress made almost entirely of lace. my grandmother had made for her. she still has it packed away. but i could not wear it, my mother was so skinny. she had a 26 inch waist. dad wore a black dress suit and they each had 4 people standing with them. they were married in the church they both attended. my grandmother made the wedding cake and all the food.

My parents got married in mid to late 1970's (yeah I don't know the exact year, I could probably figure it out but I'm tired lol) and I've seen a number of pics b/c we are getting married at the same church so we have been looking at her pics to see about how the BP will stand, etc. even though the church has been updated. I also know where they had a very casual reception at the greenhouses that my dads family owns, the rehearsal dinner was at the same place I am having my reception (that was not intentional, I didn't even know until after I booked it, but still kinda fun) and I know who all was in the wedding. Thats all I can remember off the top or my head, but the pics resemble the ones already posted!

My mom hated her wedding..and her honeymoon..

My parents got married in 1983. They where engaged by their third date (about 1 week from meeting) and got married less than three months later.

She wanted 20-50 people my grandmother invited 400 in one 3000 sq foot house. (She told me 100 was the max for budget reasons)

They didnt get to eat there wasnt enough food. (Thats why Doug and I are being served first)

They got a bunch of gifts they didnt need and lots of toasters. (She insisted on a registry for me!)

The only thing she got that she really wanted (other than my dad) was her dress... and that she tore apart and re-did her self. totally timeless. (Now she taking a gown and making my gown from it)

She also got the cake she really wanted. It was a 4 layer chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and delicate frosting blue and white lace detail...Very pretty even today.

They planned to have a honeymoon in Sonoma at a bed an breakfast...It flooded the road out completely so they spent the night in a roach motel and left at 2am because it was soo nasty...=( So she suggested we make sure we leave the next a few days after our wedding so we will be really ready to have a good time. And we are going to vegas. =) also her suggestion.

My parents got married at the JOP in 1973. My mom, it turned out, was pregnant with me - she was 19 and my dad was 17 - my dad had to have his parents consent to get married - its kind of funny looking at their marriage certificate and seeing my grandparents signatures on it. They will be celebrating their 34th Anniversary this year.

My parents eloped to Vegas the first time. My grandma dropped them off at the airport. When they got back everyone thought hey just got engaged. One year and one day later they had a ceremony at a church and everyone came to their "wedding"

My Mom and Dad were married in 1976. She had 4 bridesmaids. Her gown was long sleeved and entirely all lace. I still think it's beautiful but my mom know wonders what she was thinking. Anyhow, they were married at the same church we are going to be married in. About a half a block away from the church there is this hick bar. My dad and his groomsman after getting dressed were at the bar until the ceremony started. My dad was as drunk as a skunk for their wedding. My mom could have killed him. Then they had their reception at the community hall not far from the church.
Something a little funny about her wedding. The best man (Jim) in their wedding was her ex boyfriend. She had an extremly serious relationship with Jim prior to falling in love with my dad and was devistated when they broke up. She became close with my dad after her and Jim broke up. It's just kind of funny how things work out!! They're still all good friends even until today!

My mom got her wedding dress from an ad in the paper too. It was in the 90s so you can imagine what it looked like - big poofy sleeves, lots of lace and shiny beads. She tried to pass it down to me, but I just couldn't accept it! I felt kinda bad, but I like a certain style and color, and her dress was nothing like what I wanted. My mom forgave me when she bought the wedding dress of my dreams. If you go to http://www.graceandlace.co.uk/Allure-bridal/allure-wedding-dress-3.html
you can see my beautiful dress! :D

Wow, yellow dresses and hats?! That is awful! My MOH is wearing a nice red dress from David's Bridal: http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_bycolor_detail.jsp?stid=446&sid=3891&cfid=55

She's really lucky because she's my only bridesmaid, so I wanted her dress to be special. :D

I think my mom had 3 BMs, her colors were light blue, so the BMs dresses were that color. She had light blue and pink carnations in her bouquet. Her dress was made by her mom and she made the veil. The dress is long sleeve/lace.

I'm not too sure about mine... I know one of my grandmas was really sick so mom and dad eloped. The only part of the story I remember was they needed a witness so they asked this little old lady walking by and she was all excited.....

My parents eloped in Hawaii. Probably why I'm so in favor of others doing the same. Ever since I was young, I told myself I'd do the same thing.
