I wrote this in my journal, but thought I would do it here too. If this is in the wrong spot...move me. Thank you.

Now for my question. I would like to put our wedding in the paper, especially in Bruce's hometown paper in ND..but I'm not sure how to go about it. This is what I have so far.

Gerri McKenney and Bruce Carpenter were united in marriage at the SouthEast Methodist Church, in Pierre, SD, on May 26th, 2007. Dodie Noordermeer and Rev. Mary Lee Lint officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Parents of the bride are Marlin & Nancy McKenney, Onida, SD. Parents of the groom are the late Harley & Anna Carpenter, West Hope, ND.

Gerri is a Registered Respiratory Therapist at St. Mary's Healthcare Center, Pierre, SD. Bruce is employed by Joe Warner Farms, Onida, SD. The couple are at home in Onida, SD.

Should I put about our children and grandchildren in there somehow? How?? What am I missing?? What should I say differently? You ladies are always so smart...I know you'll come up with some good ideas. Thank you in advance.

Ususally we put where we went to school and also where our honeymoon is. We always put our attendants. So you could put that your children and his children were attendants bridesmaids/Groomsmen and then your grandchildren were flower girl etc. Our is always pretty long.
So you can put what you said, then before your job titles you can put that so and so was bridesmaid etc.
Then after, the wedding the couple left for their honeymooney in ....

I am not aware of any etiquette on this matter. But I have seen announcements be anything from a simple "Joe and Jan were married on June 15, 2007 by Rev Bob Smith in Anywhere, ND" With a picture of course.

Or a more detailed account adding were the couple grew up, children if any, their parents names and honeymoon location, etc. I am partial to the simple version in the newspaper as to not make public too much personal information.

I agree! This is exactly what I was thinking.

Thank you ladies. I knew you guys could help me. I even tried going online and looking during the night last night...and couldn't find any of "older" couples. So, I didn't know if there was a right or wrong way to do it. Thank you for all your help.
