I've heard that it gets super hot underneath wedding dresses. I tried one on once at David's Bridal and I was sweatin' like a pig after only ten minutes! A saleslady told me that she wore shorts underneath her dress and it helped keep her dry during the ceremony and reception. I don't own a single pair of shorts (haven't worn 'em since I was 11); perhaps I'll purchase one just for the occasion. I probably won't be wearing hose since I'll most likely be wearing flip-flops for the big day.

I'll probably wear a garter. Do those things slip?

So here's probably what's going on underneath my dress: boy short panties, shorts or capris, garter, and crinolin (itchy!).

What else could I wear or do to keep me dry underneath? What are you wearing?

That's an excellent point about it gettin' hot under there!!!

By 'shorts,' I'd guess she wasn't meaning like casual wear shorts, but more something brief and snug like little workout shorts. Something cotton/lycra, probably (smooth, fitted and won't add bulk under your dress).

If you don't want to wear actual shorts, I'd say look for some Under Armour hot gear boyshorts. They have a HUGE line of women's undergarments now, including boyshorts, bikinis and thongs (and bras, though none that I can imagine would work with a wedding gown). They're very soft and seamless, and keep things cool and dry.

YES it got soooo hot under my dress. But the ceremony was outside and we did pics before so we were sweatin to death! But after we got inside to the reception i wasn't hot anymore.

I just had a lacey thong and my super lacey garter belt. Now that I say that it sounds weird - but I was thinking I should be prepared to hop out the dress >.>

Doesn't sound weird at all!! In cooler cilmates/seasons, I don't think the hot-n-sweaty issue would even be a consideration... but for instance, here in FL, esp in the afternoon, in summer, in an outdoor wedding, that's a very relevant consideration!!! No one wants to be sweaty and chafing on their wedding day! lol.... (I figure I can always find a moment to slink into something sexier before the dress actually comes off... ;) )

I went to a wedding the other day outside...Its only June...It was SOO hot!!! I'm beginning to rethink my whole wedding outside bit, haha...its going to be so hot! Quick ceremony for me!!!!

As for what I'm wearing underneath...I'm wearing that skirt thing that goes under the dress and some sort of corset top with matching panties...I got the top piece from DB but want to get something a little...prettier (?) to wear under my dress...

The weather....
I thought of the weather for everyone else but myself. I am getting married on the beach in the Bahamas at 5:30-6pm in the afternoon. I am wearing flip flops but I never thought bout my dress making me hot. I love my princess dress (the price we pay to be beautiful).

Ya panty-hose are DEFFINETLY out of the question for me. They just drive me insane now as a whole. I wore a uniform in high school and after wearing them every day I just can't do it anymore unless it's an absolute necessary and cold out.
I'm thinking soem little brazillian shorts undies will be my pick. And that "should" keep me cool. We shall see.

It does get SOOO hot! But I just wore cute undies and no bra. haha. But I know my brothers fiance is wearing those spanx that suck you and are like bicycle shorts! I guess they keep you pretty cool.

I got married in November (Thinking it would be ice cold here in Massachusetts... Wrong!!! a record 70 degrees!!!)

But I sweat sooooooo bad underneath my dress. It was disgusting!!!

My advice...Go light underthere :)

I'm wearing silk underwear, a garter, a petticoat, ankle socks, and tennies under my dress. I don't have to wear a bra because I have bra cups sewn in the bust part of my dress. Yes, definitely use powder under your arms, breasts, and in your crotch area to prevent excessive sweating.

The ceremony is outside so I am going to be very hot, but the reception is inside, and since I will have pictures taken before the reception, I am taking off my petticoat for the reception.

I used that but it burns my armpits....so i only use it when i need to

i like clinical secret better and that one does not burn.

you apply either one at bedtime.

I had an outdoor June wedding so I wore sexy undies and then spandex shorts over them. If I get too hot, then sweat rolls down in between my legs so I wanted to make sure to wear spandex (Sorry, I know, TMI). They really helped and you couldn't even tell! I have a picture of me holding up my dress looking at my garters and you would have no idea that I was wearing them. I highly suggest the spandex shorts and speak from personal experience

That sounds awesome. I'm on the hunt for a better deoderant right now! Do you know if that stuff has aluminum in it? A lot of commercial ones do. :bbcry:

Certain Dri - aluminum chloride 12%

Secret clinical Strenght - aluminum zirconium trichlorhydrex GLY 20% (anhydrous)

I know Drysol (prescription) has aluminum chloride in it also.

I use secret c.s. at night and still use my regular deorant in the morning. they say you dont have to use your regular deorant in the morning but it is a habit for me and I sweat horrible it is so disgusiting!

I have to do that too. I use the secret at night and then my regular one in the morning. I have also tried the more concentrated ones and they make my pits break out and burn as well. I still have yet to find one that work really well.

Were these like spandex biking shorts? It's going to be hot outside, and I don't want to have huge sweat spots.

No one will see the sweat spots since it is under your dress. I even took this picture and you can't even tell I am wearing shorts:

hehehe...I got married in granny panties...There was soo much going on that I completely forgot my sexy panties. I didn't even notice until Jon and I were in the bridal suite changing into our going away outfits. He looked at me and said "nice undies, and to think...all these years I thought about my wedding day, and not once did those underwear pop into my mind." LMAO...Soo funny!

I love wearing granny panties - they are so comfy! My FH makes fun when I wear them, but I don't care. If I wanted to, I'd wear them on my wedding day, but I think I'll wear another somewhat comfy pair of satin "bikini" panties because he loves them.

Lucky me, Chad loves when I wear those little boy short cut panties. I can be super comfy and still wear something that he will like to see that night. Woohoo!

So, with all these ideas for what to wear under your dress...are you all wearing typical poofier dresses?

I ask because mine is more of a sheath dress...it's more fitted on the bottom. I don't know if I should wear some kind of slip or something. *shrug* (I told ya I'm not a girly girl...I don't know these things!)

I also have no idea what to do with these boobs of mine. The dress looks like this:

http://a1216.g.akamai.net/f/1216/955/6h/images2.nordstrom.com/ImageGallery/store/Product/MediumLarge/9/_5398129.jpg...

...so of course I can't wear a regular bra. And, sorry TMI, but these 38D puppies need support!

Has anyone tried those strapless underwire cup things?

Yeah I've tried them, they hold up just fine :D Well then again I'm not as big as you, but you should try - you have nothing to lose for trying anyway.
