DH and I were talking about budgeting today and realized we spend close to $300 a month on groceries; and it is just the two of us! Well and the dogs, but that figure really doesn't much include what we buy for them.

Anyway, I thought I'd see what it was like for you all. So how much you all spend per month on groceries for your household?

Well, we have only gone to the grocery twice, the first time we spent 150, the second about 85. I figure we will spend about 200 a month, but I still technically live at with my parents so eat over there sometimes. I dont think we will spend a lot more than 200 b/c we cant afford to!

Today we went shopping and it was a little over a $100. On what I don't know, we eat out 3-4 days a week! I hate cooking!!

$300 aint that hard to spend at the grocery store. Me and my wife can spend that in a month, and then some. And the sad thing is with 14 years as an Ex-Chef, I should know how to cook from scratch, and I do, and still spend that much. Meats are the worst, then dairy. Thats 2/3 of our grocery bill, and most of the meats I buy are pre cut, and then I slice them my self, to save money.

In that we both work f/t and then work evenings and weekends on our business, we buy far too many take out or quick to prepare meals, in order to save us time.

I don't think I could even venture to guess how much we spend on just the two of us ... whatever it is, it can't be good :(

We probably spend between $100 and $150/week ($400 - $600/month) on groceries (but that includes cleaning supplies, paper products, toiletries, etc....).

We've been really trying to eat healthier lately, which means shopping around the perimeter of the grocery store (produce, dairy, meats/poultry, fresh breads, as opposed to the processed foods that tend to make up the mid-section of the store) which makes things MUCH more expensive. We eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies, and I buy the organic meats/poultry whenever possible.

Right now we are spending pretty much nothing because we are trying to use up our food so we don't have to move it. But generally, we had been spending about $300/mo as well. And the sad thing is, that it will probably go up some once we move because we will be eating at home more often....but at least we will be eating out less.

It seems as though I can't ever make it out of the grocery store for under $70/week....if I do, its because the prior week we probably ate out a lot more.

Wow, I love this question! We spend anywhere from $400-$500 a month on groceries. But that's only because we have 3 growing boys to feed!:hungry:

I'd say that we generally spend about $400 a month at the grocery store. We purchase a lot of organic foods...fresh, packaged, frozen. The chemical free cleaning supplies that we use always add up too. And we always buy a few treats like expensive cheese or a fancy dessert. We're going to have to be more economical when Chad & I are living on our own though!

My husband does the shopping so I am not sure how much he spends but the couple ot times I have gone with him I alwyas tend to make it go over more then he watned to spend lol. ( don't take a hungry pregnant woman who doenst knwo what she wants gracery shopping ). He spends about $100 a week. He is trying to get that down though. There are 4 of us and I am the only one who needs lunch as the kids ate at school and he ate at work. ( that will change with the kids and I being home all summer ). And then there are the little things during the week like another gallon of milk or a loaf of bread. Or some snacks that I want that he didn't get. So it has to be some where between $400 and $500 a month.

We live with FMIL and have a tendency to eat out a lot. Plus, my work has food there for all the employees (it's awesome, cuz it cuts down on our personal food costs). However, I do most of the grocery shopping for work and usually spend about $250 every two weeks. Our admin asst sometimes goes in between to get extras to tide us over and spends about $100. So for 20 ppl we spend about $175 a week. Then the boss sometimes buys us lunch, sometimes people go out (I never do, why spend my own money if work is paying for it?), and sometimes people bring leftovers. Oh, and we also have the Swanns man come every two weeks. So whatever that is as well.

We spend about $250 a month for DH and I. That does not include our three growing boys (Our dogs hahaha) But I would say we spend about that a month and for the dogs about $80 a month for dog food. But we do BIG grocery shopping every two weeks get what we need and then do small grocery shopping over that time.

We probably spend less than $200 a month on groceries. I end up dragging myself to the grocery store when there is hardley anything left. On top of that we also have venison still in the freezer. It's almost gone, so the bill will go up when it runs out.

I would say that it is usually about 200-300 a month we try not to eat out too much. We usually dont go shopping until we are almost completely out so its almost always a hit.:bbeek: oh well.

On just food items at the grocery store we spend about 250-300 a month. (depends on if we grill steaks that month or not)
We have an 18 month old son and I cook dinner every evening.

We eat out 2 or 3 times a month.

Lar and I usually are the only ones in the house that buy groceries, and we spend about $200 each month. We end up buying for the whole darn household, which is up to five people now. Can't wait 'til we move out!

We spend about $120 a week! I hate spending that much on food, but we buy all organic and it's so expensive.

It usually depends on how much money we have. Usually its about $100-150/month I think. But lately, we have only been in our apartment on Sunday nights-Tuesdays, then we go back home with our parents to work back home. So during the summer its a lot less than that. Right now we have like nothing to eat.
