I just love romantic stories, they are the best. I thought I would add mine to the group. Sorry it is so LONG!!!!
I breifly knew my husband back in 1994; when i was about 17 or 18, I was living in Oklahoma at the time . Also at the time I was dating a guy that ended up being a real big JERK. Because I was dating someone I really only knew my husband as a nice guy that seemed really sweet. He was from Georgia; and when he went back home before I eneded it with the Guy I had been dating when he was in Oklahoma, we sort of lost track of each other. Ended up that my family moved to Georgia in 1997; and because I couldn't find a job that could support me with no family around, I moved with them. The first Sunday in Georgia we walked into church and I remember seeing this guy that I was sure I knew, but couldn't place him off hand. We started talking and we realised where we knew each other from, we kept talking and found that we had lots in common. We moved to Georgia the first week in August, I left the middle of August to go and stay with an aunt that had gotten pretty sick and so we promised to e-mail a lot and call each other when we could. One day when we were talking on the phone, he was like I need your help. I said sure, what do you need help with. He said well! I really like this girl and I don't know how to let her know; that I like her and stuff, your a girl and I was wondering if you could tell me what a girl would want. I said sure and procedded to ask questions like do I know this girl and stuff. He said yes! you know the girl and I asked if I knew her pretty well. He said Yes!; so I proceeded to give him my thoughts on things. We talked a little bit more and then we agreed to talk again next week. I couldn't wait to talk to him and help him out even thought I was feeliing pretty jelaous about this other girl, but I was happy for him because he was just a great guy. So he calls back the next week and we are talking and he asks if he could talk to my parents. I being the CLUELESS IDIOT that I am when it comes to guys; said you don't need my permission to talk to my parents, you sit next to them every sunday. He said you don't understand, I NEED your permission to talk to your parents. This went back and forth for a while and he finally changed the topic or so I thought. He said you know the girl we were talking about last week, I was like yep. She is you, and that is why I need to talk to your parents and told me that he wanted to marry me. I was so shocked, that the couldn't speak for about 5 mins. I said yes! and then he went and talked to my parents, which DID NOT GO WELL. He figured there was no sense talking to my parents, with out talking to me first incase I said NO. We talked a lot more after that and he said he wanted to come see me for Thanksgiving, but i was supposed to be coming home then since my aunt was better and didn't really need me around anymore. I sort of cramped her single lifestyle. So I checked with my aunt and she said it would be ok, for him to come see me for my birthday which is in October. So we made the arrangements and he came and saw me for my birthday. We went sight seeing on October 15th and we were walking around this really pretty public garden an he sort of shove a ring at me. I took one look at the ring and said that is HUGE, he was like well I guess we can take this family heirloom and have it reset, that was all I needed was to hear that it was really old. I really like antiuqes. Ends up that he was going to propose to me ON my Birthday, but sort of got caught up in the moment of being near me in person and just couldn't wait. We had orginally talked about getting engaged when I got back home for Thanksgiving. Nine years later we are still going strong and even thought we have the ups and downs of married life, we love each other more then we did when we got married.
