Hey everyone! I wanted to announce the newest member of my family. This is 8 week old Shadow. He is a black lab and quite energetic. We got him on Saturday and we've fallen in love with him. He's now sleeping through the night (was a challenge but we conquered it) and going potty outside most of the time (quite a feat for only having him 4 days). We're so glad to have him. I will post more pics as I get them! The second and third pic are shadow and Jonathan together!

Too cute. Be careful...labs are chewers! The best thing we go for our dog is raquet balls. Our girl (border collie/husky) is a chewer and these are the best. With tennis balls they can tear off the hair and they get nasty if it is dirty outside. But the raquet balls rinse off and last FOREVER! But anyway hope that helps...Shadow is adorable and makes me want puppy kisses:kiss:!:puppy: Congrats in the new addition!

Aww...SO CUTE! Yeah, they are def. chewers we use the braided ropes or the dentabones...those last a while.
We have a black lab named Bo and he is 2. I remember how bad the first few nights were with the crying but they learn so fast and are so smart. You just have to work with them to make them the dog you want.
Good Luck and Congrats!

CUTE!!!!!!!! I just got a puppy as well! but he is 13 weeks, he is a black lab hound mix. Labs are the BEST dogs, sooo sweet and smart. But they eat a lot and have so much energy. ENJOY your new baby, adorable!

He is a cutie, congrats!
As was previously stated; labs are big chewers. But I would be careful with racquetballs for a dog of that size; they are fairly small and could possibly get stuck in the dogs throat during play. I have seen this kind of thing on those vet er shows.
You will want to get something strong for him to chew on, but not too small. You also want to look out for things that can break off into smaller pieces. Rawhide is bad about that; I don't give it to mine unless we are watching them. Kong toys and those rubber Booda bones are pretty good and sturdy.
Congrats again and good luck!

We're starting to have chewing issues so we've gotten him all kinds of cool chew toys and he loves all of them.
He's still too small for regular size tennis balls so we had to get the small ones and he's learning to play fetch with them. We intend to get rid of them when he's bigger so he doesnt swallow them.
The Bitter Apple stuff is working well to keep him from chewing up the furniture. We're having more of a problem with him wanting to chew on us.
