So ladies..
I have a question... I have decided to buy my wedding dress soon. I was looking at it online (at david's bridal) and decided to search the style number... I found the dress on eBay for about half the price.... my question is.. would you risk it??
the pictures look okay.. they are a little dark, but the dress is the size I want, in the correct color and comes with two veils (even though I'm not sure if I want to wear one)
I did send a message to the seller, asking is there are any stains, and if it was altered at all... haven't heard back yet, but I just sent it this morning..
Here is the link.. please let me know what you think...
thanks...

It does say it was worn once so I imagine it must have been altered and it probably needs cleaned good. I usually only buy anything new, never worn, or with tags. I haven't had any luck with items that have been worn. Either way you did the right thing by contacting the seller hopefully she can give you more information and if it is stained badly or if it doesn't fit that can't be altered you can see about getting your money back if you do decide to go thru with it!

you are correct about the altering thing.. that is what scares me.. also, the darkness of the pictures worries me.. is there a reason for such dark photos??

I'd say the photo is dark because she didn't have good lighting/correct camera settings...
I don't know....she has positive ratings for the past year but only 14 transactions where she was the seller...how much more expensive is the dress at David's? Would it be worth it to buy the E-Bay dress if it needs cleaning, altered, mended? The choice is yours sweetie but if it doesn't say NWT or NIB or something like that I usually don't have good experience...plus even if she will refund your money you still may have to pay shipping.
Give me a sec...I need to look at my journal and I can give you the website for the online bridal store where I got all of my BM dresses, and FG dress...they have some things that David's carry.......I'll be right back!

I have always gotten things on Ebay. It looks good, but I would make sure to correspond with the seller a few times and see if she can send you pictures that are ligther. But it seems like a great dress, she does have positive feedback and she probably wore the dress for her wedding and never again. So it would need a good cleaning and alterations as said before. Its up to you, but I think that there are less stressful ways to get a good price on a dress!

I would love to find out about a place that sells David's bridal dresses for less..
the retail price of the dress (since I have to get it in a womans 14 , little wider in the chest) is $449 plus taxes, etc.
so she is offering the exact dress (right color, right size) plus two veils (that would cost at least $100 for them both in the store) for half the price of the dress...

I agree, I would correspond with her to see if you can get lighter pics. I know a couple girls that got their dresses from e-bay and had very good experiences. I would do a lil more research and find out if she did alterations. If she didn't do much to it and you can get clear pics, I would go for it.

I also got my dress from Ebay and I absolutely LOVE it.
I checked out my local David's Bridal but the sales people sucked and the dresses were ugly and over priced. I started shopping around and found this excellent little shop on Ebay called "Nice Harbor" that hand-makes YOUR dress to YOUR specific measurements and specifications for a FRACTION of the price of the David's Bridal stuff. The creation and shipping time is about a month but the wait is definitely worth it.
Here's a link, in case anyone is interested... :)

I would not buy your dress online. It is too risky. There could be a flaw, stain, ect. on the dress that you cannot see in the picture.

Thanks for all the advice..
I thought you all would be interested to know that i went ahead and made a bid on the dress....
I won the auction and the dress came to my house this past wednesday...
IT IS BEAUTIFUL! not a tear, stain or rip anywhere on the dress... The only problem is that I have lost weight since I first tried the dress on a few months ago, so I will have to get it altered at some point before the wedding.. but I can handle that...
I love the dress.. I am so excited to have paid less than half price for it!

I noticed you made reference to the online bridal store, is this the website with black background home page,
I am wanting to purchase a dress over the internet, but have already been burned once by buying one through e-bay, made in china
The dress was an absolite mess, and now I have 15 weeks to get one
I am sure it was the online Bridal store where I was looking to purchase from
Would you say this is a good site to use ?
Thanks
Sharon

I hope you left the seller bad feedback..Was this the person that offered custom made dresses that was from China. I almost bought one in the very beginning from her. I'm glad that I didn't it. She could even show me an actualy pic of the dress that I would be receiving...
I know pictures aren't 100% but one rule of thumb I use with ebay is that if they don't have detailed pictures of what I can purchase I don't even give it a thought!
