Quickie question: What is SOP (standard operating procedure) for the veil after the ceremony? Do you leave it on the whole time? Is there a certain point at which it's "okay" to take it off? Does this vary depending on the formality of the wedding and/or the veil?
I'm contemplating a simple, fingertip length veil (no blusher), tucked in with a comb. But I'm also thinking once the party gets started, it's going to annoy me! LOL.... So is it okay to take it off once formal pictures are done?

I think it is a personal choice. I have seen brides leave it on the whole day and others that take it off after the ceremony.

Its a personal choice. I am going to have a very long veil and switch to a fingertip veil for the reception. I think it just depends on you. I want to wear mine for as long as possible. =)
i wanted mine off asap. i took it off after the ceremony and formal pictures. with all the hugging i was glad i did, i'm sure it would've tugged each time.

I took my veil off after the formal pictures before we hit the reception. Everytime someone hugged me in the receiving line, it would pull. It was driving me nuts! I left my tiara on until I had to take it off though. I probably would have slept in it if I could have :)

I left mine(fingertip length on a comb under my updo) on because it wasn't bugging me...if it had it would have come off after the pics at the formal reception...
There really isn't a "set time" that I know of...

I couldn't wait to take mine off. after pictures I had my mom and my bridesmaid pull it off. I was FREE. haha, but it really depends on what you want!

Mine is a cathedral veil so it will be coming off as soon as the formal pictures are over. It's too long and I really don't want to ruin it. I will more than likely keep my tiara on for the reception.

I agree with everyone else. It's all personal choice. This will be my only and last time I get to wear a veil!! I really want a picture of my dad and I dancing during our father daughter dance which will be shortly after supper. As long as it doesn't bug me to death I'm going to try and keep it on for a while!

I'm going to be wearing a reg. length one with a comb that will tuck underneith the updo in my hair. I too am not wearign ablusher. I figure I'll keep it on for as long as it doesn't make me crazy and once it does it's outta there!!!!!!!!!lol I personally see no problem takign it off. All I can say from experience is that if you want to take it off think of your BM's and make it something easy liek a comb or something lol. I was on the BM's end where one of my cousins wanted hers off and I swear the thing must have been glue gunned to her head cause it was soooooooooo hard to get out without taking her hair apart. But realistically I doubt you can really get that style anymore.

Mine's going to be a pain I think. I have a cathedral length veil which is attached to an elbow-length veil with Velcro which in turn is attached to a comb, and a blusher. I imagine the blusher will come off immediately after the ceremony, and the cathedral length veil will come off after pictures. I think I'll try leaving the elbow-length one on unless it irritates me in which case I'll take it off (it's on a comb) and just have the tiara on. Good thing I had my cousin (BM who is in charge of my bustle) pay attention when the woman explained the order and procedure for the veil because I certainly don't remember!

I'm planning on taking mine off right after the pics. No tiara, no veil or anything for the reception. Gonna wear a visor to the game :D

I agree, it is a personal choice. I am planning on only wearing it during the ceremony and taking it off during the reception. I am not even wearing it over my face. I made it myself and it is short and simple but I love it.
I'd like to keep mine on all afternoon, which will really only be a few hours. It's that finishing touch that really makes me feel like a BRIDE! However, my dress has lots of beading and I'm afraid that it will keep on catching on the dress.

pardon my dumb-ness, but is there anyone that can explain to me what the definintion about blusher, finger length, cathedral length and all that is? Or where can I inform myself about it.
I've just recently decided that I DO want to wear a veil, so I need to be smart about this!. Is it tacky to home-make one?
Thanks chicas!
I just informed myself at david's bridal . com.... thanks guys! ps. they don't have a good selection of short veils...hmmm

I am taking my cathedral veil off right before the reception. I want the back of my dress and the bustle to be noticeable.
