Hi Ladies..
I know this isn't wedding related, and Im not a member of babyraising, but I thought I would post it here and those of you that are members over there could pass it along...please help raise awareness of Shaken Baby Syndrome..this is so devastating.

This is so sad. If you want more info. read the blog on her myspace.

Body: Subject PRAY FOR BABY KALEB ~~ READ AND REPOST ~~ KEEP THIS MOVING!

Kristy Reynolds and her husband are parents to a beautiful little baby boy named Kaleb. He is 6 months and 3 days old. A couple weeks ago Kristy picked Kaleb up from home care and noticed something was wrong. She immediately took him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with Shaken Baby Syndrome. He now has meningitis in response the the surgeries on his brain, his body can't regulate his temperature, his heart rate drops every time he is moved, and he has seizures. He is also blind. His sitter shook him so hard that he is in a coma, had to have spinal fluid drained from his brain, and doctors think that if he lives he will be a vegetable for the rest of his life. Brain scans show that his brain tissue is dying and his brain is shrinking. Kristy and her husband refuse this diagnosis and pray for their little boy. I'm asking you to join them in this prayer for Kaleb.

goshhhhhh. i just don't see how you could shake a baby. I have a 6 month old nephew and i just couldn't imagine if that happened to him. Wouldn't the neck break!?

It could, but in this case it made his brain swell, and hes having seizures, and he has meningitis...they also found out that the babysitter smothered him as well. So devastating, and the parents did everything they could to try and choose the proper babysitter, she was 20 minutes away from their house, in a nicer neighborhood, and they interviewed her for 2 hours before they chose her..its just devastating. She has charges against her, but shes free on $5000 bail. SO SAD.

Someone should shake her!:irked:

That is horrific! I can't imagine anyone doing that to a child.

I agree..they just posted an update on the baby, he had surgery this morning and is doing 100x better..he is opening his eyes and seems more lively. Just pray that he overcomes all of this!

This is completely horrible. My youngest son was colic for three months I never once lost my temper..How can anyone harm a child is beyond me..My heart goes out to the child's parents too. It's hard enough working and finding a decent sitter and all the guilt that comes with that. But, to have someone you are paying to watch your child-harm your child is horrible!

There was a couple in my area that not only shook their baby but waited on taking the baby to the Dr's office. THey both spent some jail time for it and custody of the child went to the grandmother. It makes me sick when I see them in public though. Here there are laughing and having a good time when they physically harmed their own child and the child is forever changed physically and mentally because of it. It's just not right!

There was a family here in Roseville, CA that lost their baby girl Hannah to SBS, and they have a huge campaign going on about it (I don't know the website at the moment)..but when I find it I will share it..sooo sad. People kill me. Babies are so precious, and so loving. Its so sad.

it doesn't take much. at the hospital i work at, before you can take your baby home, you have to watch a video on SBS. they're trying to raise the awareness. but sadly, it really doesn't take much shaking to cause serious damage.

how absolutely horrible for this child and his family. in cases such as this i wish the parents of kaleb could take care of the sitter in return. i will keep baby kaleb and his family in my prayers. such a sad thing to happen to someone so innocent.

People are awful.. How could you EVER harm a child? Let alone a harmless little baby.. This makes me sick. :(
