World No Tobacco Day

I know it's not wedding related but I just HAD to post because I'm so happy! I've been working really hard at work these past three weeks to plan a BIG impromptu event. The youth group I work for wanted to orgazine a benefit concert for to make their peers aware of Tobacco Industry marketing practices.

It had to be today because it's World No Tobacco Day! So it left me really short for planning time, but I managed to do it all in three weeks! Including designing concert shirts and other free stuff and having it all here on time! Organizing EIGHT musical acts and all the advertising! WHOO it was a lot, but it turned out to be a big success- I started out my day as the guest on the morning news!

Sorry to type so much but I really wanted to share! It was really rewarding to see something come together and have everyone so happy with it! Maybe I'll post some pictures later :-P

no its promoting non smoking. for healthy lungs. but the youth that do alot of activities for other youth to be informing other youth the manipulation of the tobacco companies.

We actually encourage youth to make informed choices about smoking based on information about Big Tobacco- most of them don't understand the advertisment techniques and the amount of money spent to convince youth to pick start and become replacement smokers for all the people who are dying or getting help for their addiction.

We try and use the tagline "We're anti-industry not anti smoker". We actually have youth involved were currently smoke or have at some time.

It's all pretty cool to see everyone get soooo excited about educationg each other!

I just want to say that that is so wonderful. Preaching and harping at people accomplishes nothing. It just pushes people away from whatever you are saying. I think that informing the public about the truth and allowing them to make their own informed choices is the most responsible thing that you can do. Not just with this particular topic, but with anything. The truth can be so hard to find nowadays. So congrats on being involved with this group. It sounds like it can do a lot of good and make some positive changes.
