View Full Version : We're Mr. & Mrs. C
I'm home ladies, and as soon as I can I will fill you all in on our wedding. It sure wasn't ANYTHING like I had planned. At the end of the day, the only thing that happened that was supposed to happen was that we were married. I am working on uploading some pics to Photobucket, then I'll share some with you.
We had a super fantastic time on our honeymoon, but the weather didn't particularly cooperate for that either. Even so...we had so much fun. Unfortunately, I have to go back to work tomorrow, so this whole thing may take some time...sorry!!!
I hope everyone has been well on here. I haven't had time to catch up yet, but will.
Thank you all for all your well wishes. I had tears in my eyes as I was reading them. You ladies are all so sweet. I so appreciate all your prayers.

Welcome back!! And congratulations again!!! I really can't wait to hear about it all!! And see all of the wonderful pictures that you're going to post!!! YAY!!
Oops, sorry, I just noticed I put this in the wrong place. If one of you nice mods wants to move it, I won't be surprised. Thank you.
First of all, all of my family arrived on Thursday. Amanda and her Jeremy and Racelee got here about 5:30 AM. Then Tabitha and her little boy, Alec, along with my sisters in law, Melinda and Kay got here about 6AM. They all came from Ks.
In the afternoon, my Jeremy and his gf, Kaiti got here. We didn't get to see them until the next day because we had to take Kaelie (my granddaughter) to the ER because she has strep.
All of the above except Jeremy and Kaiti went to my parents house for Mexican food supper. Amanda and Tabitha have always liked Grandma's Mexican food (it's what she used to always cook for Christmas dinner) so that was a request. My Dad had to take a truck to the field, so was a little late.
After supper, we decided we had better take Kaelie to Pierre. She was never feeling better, and was actually doing some grunting with breathing.
As Darcy is registering her in the ER, my cousin's daughter comes out of the back. I asked why she was there and she said they had to bring her Mom in by ambulance. She had an allergic reaction to something in the hottub and had passed out. It was all rather exciting.
We got home that evening and went out for a couple of drinks. I came home early to get some more stuff done!!
On Friday, Bruce and I go to Pierre in the morning. Amanda, Tabitha, Melinda, Kay and all the kids go to hang out with Steve (my ex...their Dad, grandpa, and brother). Amanda throws a little temper tantrum...but all in all things don't go too bad.
Until we get to Pierre and I discover that I have forgotten the perscriptions that we all were given the night before. The Dr. thought it would be a good idea to treat Bruce, Darcy, and me because we had been taking care of Kaelie when she was sick.
So, I call the Dr. that is in the ER, explain the situation, and he calls us new scripts in.
I go to tan and Bruce runs a couple of errands. We meet up with the Best Man (Greg) who wants our help finding him something to wear. So we do a little shopping with him.
Then we go to Walmart to finish getting stuff for the cook out we have planned for the evening, and help Tabitha find something to wear. We also decided we needed warmer clothes for the little ones because it's supposed to be somewhat chilly on Sat. When I go to get the meds that the Dr. called in 3 hours previous, the only one ready is Darcy's. I tell them I am in a hurry and will pick up the rest later. WELLLL, 20 minutes later, they finally let me have Darcy's and we go get in line to check out. They told me I needed counseling to pickup Amoxicillian. I said, I don't need counseling, I'm a Resp. Therapist. The lady was quite rude and said I HAD to wait for the pharmacist. All he told me was to take 1 tablet 3 times per day by mouth. I was sooooo angry by then...I may never get another script at Walmart as long as I live.
On our way home, we call Bruce's brother that is coming from ND, and he is closer to our house than we are, so we tell him to go on in and make themselves at home. Well, Tabitha, etc. got there before we did and without us telling her that we were getting more company. I guess when she came in, she was quite startled and asked who the heck they were. We all got a good giggle out of it later...but she was being quite protective.
We finished getting things ready for the cookout. I finished making Vicki's garter (that she didn't wear) and Kay finished making the Memorial page.
Bruce's daughter, Shelisha..her son, Brandon, and boyfriend, Brad arrived just in time for supper. Amanda's Jeremy did all the grilling for us. He is such a sweetie. We had lots of food, lots of people, and lots of fun. It rained on and off...but we have a big house...so it was in and out a lot!! We had grilled burgers, brats, brat burgers, mac salad, 7 layer salad, chips and dip. We had a lot of food leftover.
Then the kids went to the bar so they could see some of their friends. I don't think they got home until after 2AM!! I was sure glad I didn't go with them. LOL
Family sure does have a way of making things verrry interesting, don't they?! Seems like you've kept your cool through it all...so far. Now let's hear your wedding day story and see if you stay that way! :D

Thank you so much ladies. If you think these 2 days were bad, wait until you hear about the day of the wedding. The only thing that went as planned was that at the end of the day we were married!!
Here is a teaser pic for you. It is of the girls, Racelee (my 14 mo. granddaughter) Sierra (my 10 y.o. niece) Amanda (the step-daughter that's Racelee's Mom), me, Kaelie is standing in front of me, the person in the dark dress is the photographer (she is so sweet and patient) Darcy (my daughter) is standing next to me, and Tabitha (my youngest step-daughter) is next to her. Oh, and the little guy in the light blue shirt is my grandson from my youngest sd, Alec.
We are trying to get the 3 grandkids to stand next to me for a pic. It didn't work!!! LOL

Actually, he had already seen me because he came to me to tie his tie. It was tooooo funny. I had already put on my fake nails...so there was no way I could tie a tie. So I had to send him to my brother to do it. We all got a giggle out of that.
He was so very handsome standing up there waiting for me. I promise more pics in an hour or so. I need to get.

Oh Ger, You look beautiful in all of your pics. I think I would have had a melt down if I would have had to deal with all you did before your wedding. Please tell us the rest of your wedding day story!!!
Can't wait to see more pictures!!! :)
Before I get into the whole sordid story, I'm going to show you some more pics. These were all taken by my ex's sister. She has been more of a sister to me than my own sister and I'm so glad she was here. She really helped with the stuff that was happening. She even cleaned our house before she left!!!
This one is with my daughter (MOH) I think the girls did a great job of picking out clothes. They all looked so pretty!!!

And here is my jewelry. She made me a necklace, ankle bracelet, and earrings. They were so very pretty. She is going to school for art...and loves to sell her jewelry. I'm so thankful that she made mine.

I love the picture of you looking up at your new hubby! Beautiful! I thought you were getting married on a boat?
Both Bruce and I (and I think everyone that loves us) spent most of our night awake listening to the wind. It was blowing 40+ mph and was not being very nice!!
We were awake early and discussed what we were going to do about the boat situation. I called the Captain...but he wasn't home, so after awhile he called me back. He is the fiance of one of my co-workers, and would do anything for me. We talked about it and I said I would call him back and let him know.
Then I left for my hair appt. As you can see from the pics...she did a beautiful job. Amanda and Tabitha were supposed to be in Pierre (30 miles away) to get their hair done at 9:30 AM. When I got home at 9:40, they hadn't left yet. I was not impressed. When I asked what was going on, they told me that Amanda wasn't cooperating. She kept saying her bf was not being helpful and had a full fledged melt down. My ex's sis and Bruce both told her to knock it off and/or go to the bedroom...that she wasn't messing with my day anymore than it already was. Wellllll, because she pulled that little stunt...neither of them got their hair done. Lena (the ex's sis) did it for them and it looked great!! But, I'm still quite angry with her because she caused a huge scene and consequently EVERYONE was running late.
After I got home and got things rolling, Bruce and I left for Pierre. We decided on our way that we weren't going to do the boat. As I said, the wind was blowing 40+ mph and it was only 42 degress. We would have been miserable!!! So then I got to call everyone and let them know. I spent most of my morning crying...but Bruce was very understanding and very patient. Truth be told, he cried a couple of times himself!!
We got to the motel and I discovered I forgot my crinolin (sp). So I called home and had the girls bring it. I fixed my nails and makeup (I hardly ever wear any...so a little is a big difference!! LOL) Then Darcy and Kaelie picked me up and we went to the church.
The girls got there and Lena and Kay (my ex's other sis) helped me get dressed. We were running about 10 minutes behind, but our photographer was very calm and said we would be fine.
We went out into the church and started pictures. About 1/2 way thru mine, Bruce comes marching up the aisle and says...Honey, I CANNOT tie this tie...I need help. We all started laughing and I told him he was going to have to have my brother help. My fingernails were not going to allow me to tie any ties!!!
All but the little people were very cooperative and we got pictures taken in under an hour. Susie (the photographer) was excellent.

Awww..Im so sorry that you couldn't do the boat thing. Glad the Captain was super understanding though. Maybe you guys should do that as a get away or 2nd honeymoon :) Your husband cracks me up..I CANNOT TIE THIS TIE!! LOL...Im laughing hysterically right now :)
After we were done with pictures, the pastors, Dodie and MaryLee took Bruce and I into a room to have a prayer with us. After we were done with that, Bruce went to the bathroom and I was sitting on the couch.
All at once, I thought...OMG, I don't have Bruce's ring!!! About this same time Dodie asks me where the stuff for the sand ceremony is!?!?!?!? I had forgotten it at the motel...and thought I had left Bruce's ring there too. Ssssoooo, we send my son and his gf to the motel to get the stuff. They can't find the ring.
About then, my daughter dumps out her purse to get some change to get Kaelie a pop...and there is Bruce's ring. Some where along the way, I had put the ring in her purse...and to this MOMENT, do not remember doing it!!!
So, the ceremony was about 30 minutes late starting. It was a beautiful ceremony. I loved every second of the 15 minutes that it was. Bruce did a fantastic job with his vows...and I only teared up once. After both of us had said our vows, he pulls out a handkerchief, wipes his forhead and has a big sigh. It was toooo funny. Everyone giggled!!
We hadn't had a practice the night before because we thought we weren't going to have an aisle to walk down. Well, obviously that changed. My Dad got to walk me down the aisle. The girls and guys walked together and it all worked out fine. MaryLee played a song for us as we went in and out. It was very nice.

We were too. He is so funny.
Everyone says we are going to do it on our 1st anniversary. They all knew that I was terribly disappointed. I knew that it could happen. It's Memorial Day weekend in SD. The weather never cooperates!!!

I COMPLETELY understand about the weather!!! Growing up in WY, it was basically the same!!! Glad that everything turned out wonderful. Im so so so happy that it had a happy ending!!! You definitely have a story to tell about your wedding day, thats for sure!!!
Oh, yeah...I need to tell you another giggle.
When I ordered flowers, I wanted something different for Kaelie. So I ordered her, Racelee, and Alec little things with bells on them. They looked almost like the bridemaids flowers, but had bells on them.
Well, Miss Kaelie didn't like her "bell thing"!! She wanted flowers just like her Mom. Now, remember, she was not feeling good, running a fever and just diagnosed with strep. So we pretty much let her have what she wanted.
When the girls were taking pics, Lori told Darcy...you need someones flowers...even if it's Kaelie's. We laughed so hard. I'm not sure what anyone carried down the aisle. But it turned out nice.
Here is a pic of Darcy holding lots of flowers...I don't know who's besides mine. Kaelie was walking behind.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/100_0197.jpg
Here is a pic of my flowers and the hankie that MY great grandma carried at her wedding. It was cool!!
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/100_0181.jpg
And, our groomsmen have no flowers because the florist forgot to leave Bruce's flower. So instead of him being without, the groomsmen went without and he and the BM had flowers.
Here is another giggle picture for you.
Everyone is praying except for me. I don't know why!! But look at my face!!!

Hoooray for some pictures!!! I do have to admit, that the blue strips made the dress that much spectacular. I also love the family photo! What a great (and large) family you have :) You should be soo proud!
Wow sounds like a crazy crazy day. Not that any of us will forget our wedding, but you'll definitely never forget yours! I'm so sorry about the boat situation! I would have shed a few tears as well. You recovered and had a beautiful smile on your face though.
You look great! Your dress is really beautiful and i just love the blue trim! Congrats!
Or should I say blue-tiful? Ouch - Sorry that was BAD, but I just couldn't help myself.

Ger you looked sooooo pretty!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry about all the snags. But it sounds like you handled it sooo well.
The one where you are smiling and everyone is praying made me laugh so hard. It is sooo cute, you are just sooo excited. I love it!
Thank you so much ladies. I too am very glad I added the blue. I think it added so much to that dress. And it sure made it easier to stay tucked in and bend over to pick up the little ones!!! LOL
I'm not really sure I handled things so well. I cried almost all morning about the boat thing. And when Amanda had her fit...I actually went Bridzilla and screamed at her!!! I quickly calmed down though and with the backup of my family (something I never had when I was married to her Dad) we all told her to either get over it...or go to the room and stay there!!!
I will always giggle over the praying pic. Bruce has it hanging up so he can giggle at it a couple of times a day too. There is another picture of the sand ceremony that I'm looking away...I'm actually trying to get Kaelie to settle down...but it looks funny too!!

Oh my goodness!!! Yes, as the other ladies have said, family ceeeerrrrrtainly keeps things interesting!! Still, the end result is, you're married to your true love... Con gratulations to you both!!
We ended up having a really large reception. The place was certainly full. My cousin's ceremony only lasted 10 minutes, so the reception started early. I had to call my family that hadn't gone to her ceremony. Most of them were napping!!!
The food was fantastic. The girls did a wonderful job. I guess we ran out of punch, but I think that was the only thing we ran out of. We sure had a TON of buns left over!!
As you probably remember, we had cheesecakes for our cake. Oh, my...did that go over well!! There were lines to get cheesecake!! She made 12 different kinds. I only ate the chocolate mint, but it was to die for. We had MANY, MANY compliments on the cheesecakes.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/100_0220.jpg
My poor cousin had a beautiful wedding cake and 3 sheetcakes, and I'll bet not 10 people ate wedding cake. I was told yesterday that for some reason the guests were told they couldn't eat the wedding cake. I sure don't know how that got passed around. There was plenty of it!!
After supper, we did our first dances. The DJ didn't have the song we wanted to dance to (the new Big & Rich song), so he picked something. I need to call and ask him what it was because I don't remember. I just remember being so happy dancing with Bruce!!! Our little grandchildren ended up coming out and dancing too. Their Mom's tried to get them to not...but we didn't mind. They were having fun!!!
Here's our first dance.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/100_0227.jpg
and us looking down on Alec as he is dancing too!!
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/100_0232.jpg
The other bridal couple left for over 2 hours, so we lost our crowd. We didn't do the dollar dance or the garter auction because we were waiting for them to come back. By the time they came back, everyone else was gone. Also, our BM took off and left. One of the groomsmen didn't even get to the reception...he and his wife decided they needed to get back to ND for a graduation. Bruce was pretty upset with the guys in his party!! And because the kids had stayed out the night before so late, they were tired and left early.
The dance was a lot of fun...just not what we expected!! Also, there had been a bad car accident, so several of my co-workers had to go back to work. It involved 2 people that work at the hospital...so everyone was quite worried. The guy is doing OK...but the girl is in really bad shape. She has a bad head injury. We don't know if she will ever be OK. It's really sad.
Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the reception.
Little people dancing. The little girl in yellow was kind of a bully. I don't even know who she is...some relation of the other groom. It was kind of funny!!!

And Bruce dancing with Mom.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/100_0244.jpg
That's another story...My Mom tells me even before supper that her and Dad are leaving. I said..No you're not. She said, yes...we're tired. (Remember, she just got home from volunteering with the Red Cross at a flood). I was like...Mom, this day has not been the best...PLEASE don't be a pain!!! And Dad must have talked to her...because they did stay until we had a dance!!!
Here is one of me dancing with Racelee

I am loving all of these pictures! Keep em comming!
I think that's it for pics from the reception. The dance ended about 1AM and we helped clean up. As we are cleaning up, Vicki tells me she is glad she didn't get a big puffy dress like I had. I was having trouble walking because I had taken my shoes off and my dress was too big. I told her I loved my dress. I felt like a princess all day. I heard MANY times that I looked just like a princess too!!!
Then we went to the motel. As we are going into our room (which we hadn't seen yet because of all the busyness all day), Bruce is trying to find the lightswitch. I had already stepped into the room and was trying to get out of his way...and fell down the steps that I didn't know were there!!! I was so very glad I had that big poofy dress on. It broke my fall. I about gave Bruce a heart attack though. He hears me yell, and finally finds the light switch. He turns the light on to see me laying on the floor. After we figure out that I'm OK, we both sat on the floor and laughed!!!
It was a beautiful room. I teach the employees of this motel CPR, so I got the room for 2 nights for free. It is a bi-level. We sure were comfortable!!!!

What a beautiful dress you had...the blue was definitely a good decision on your part. I love your pictures and the lights around and behind the head table are so pretty! Congratulations on your marriage and happy one week anniversary! You both look so happy together. :D
As I said in another post, we had the brunch thing on Sunday. We decided to do it at 11AM, because that was check-out time for everyone at the motel. Bruce & I stayed at a different motel because it was free...and beautiful. I teach CPR for the one where we stayed, so they gave us the honeymoon suite for 2 nights for free.
Anyway, we had lunch with the leftovers of the evening before. It helped us get rid of quite a bit of the food and we got to visit with our oot guests and family. I am so very glad we did it.
This is us being silly!!! (who, us???)

Then we went over to the reception site and picked up the rest of our stuff. We sure had a lot of buns leftover!! Otherwise, we guess pretty well about food.
After that, we went home and took the stuff from the wedding. Some of the KS family that were staying another day were at our house. They even cleaned my house before they went home. And decorated!!! They had printed off a bunch of the pics and hung them around the house. It was cute to come home to!!!
Then we packed our bags, and headed back to the motel in Pierre. I'm so glad that we had decided to do that. It was so much more relaxing than trying to hurry off to the honeymoon!!!
It seems like you have an amazing family. The brunch worked out perfectly for y'all. It's so sweet that they cleaned up and decorated the house with the pictures. How great.
Yep, this part of the KS family is so sweet!! It was the other part that managed to make life miserable while she was here. LOL The ones that stayed are so very sweet!

Now, for the honeymoon.
We got up Monday morning and left for the Hills. It was fairly cold and windy when we left Pierre, and really windy when we stopped for gas at Vivian. But, by the time we stopped at the Badlands, it was hot.
Bruce had never been to the Badlands before, so we decided we would drive through them. They are always so cool looking. I always wonder what the first settlers thought when they first came upon them???
Bruce didn't know I was going to take this pic.

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/honeymoon/100_0285.jpg
It's nice to see even the Badlands green. We have been in a 6 year drought, so all this rain is nice to see.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/honeymoon/100_0288.jpg
After we left the Badlands, we continued on our way to Rapid City. We stayed at Big Sky Lodge and it was so neat. They are fairly new owners and are doing a lot of remodeling, so was in kind of a mess. Our room was great though. And they were so sweet to us. Each morning they made us homemade muffins. They also had a bottle of wine, wine glasses and a cork screw for us.
The person that owns the place is a Neuro Dr. and works with the Drs. that do my sleep studies. He was amazed at that.
This was the view from our room. It's kind of dark because it rained almost the whole time we were in the Hills.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/honeymoon/ViewfromMotel2007.jpg
We just kind of messed around the rest of the day. Then we went to Applebee's for supper. The waitress was really neat...she was raised only about 30 miles from here. She brought us a brownie because we were on our honeymoon. While we were there, it stormed really bad. The wind blew about 75 mph and it rained over 2 inches. There was water running every where. We had just got seated when it started. And it was pretty much done by the time we were done eating!!!

Where is the badlands...It looks like it's out in the middle of no where!
It is actually along interstate 90 in South Dakota, near Wall. Have you ever heard of Wall Drug?? It's about 15 miles from there? I think it's about an hour from the Black Hills. It really is out in the middle of nowhere...and nothing. And can be very desolate. That's why it's so neat to visit. They allow climbers to pretty much come and go as they please. They just have to clean up after themselves.
When Darcy was in college, she works some summers at Wall Drug. Those kids go to the Badlands to climb and hang out. She loved it.

We had a super fantastic time. I'm so glad we decided to take the time to have a honeymoon. And actually, because it was raining at home, it made it easier for Bruce not to feel bad. Otherwise he would have been thinking he needed to be in the field!!
OMG Ger!! I just caught up on your eventful wedding. Families are the best aren't they? :)

Thank you so much! Yes, it seems that I would have had enough without the family!! But, of course, they make life interesting...so I guess I have to keep them!! LOL
Your turn is coming up really soon! I hope you have so much fun and everything goes just as you have planned it!! Have a good time!!!
On Tuesday morning, we got up and it was raining. And I do mean raining!! So, we were quite lazy for the morning. When I went to get some juice, the owner and manager had made homemade bran muffins for us.
Then we went and drove around the Hills. We saw a lot of places where they had wild fires last year. There were a lot of burn spots. It sure was sad to see.

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/honeymoon/100_0301.jpg
This is what the Hills should look like.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/honeymoon/100_0302.jpg
We found a winery that is in the Hills, Prairie Berry Winery, www.prairieberry.com (http://www.prairieberry.com). They make all their wines from berries, grapes, etc. that are grown in SD. We had a tasting and decided to buy one that is called "Kick *** Rhubarb". It was fantastic. And it cost $18.00 per bottle. We didn't think that was too bad. We also bought 2 of their wine glasses for keepsakes.
We also ate at a small cafe in Hill City. It was great. The food was excellent and the service was even better. Gotta love those small town people! LOL
Then we just drove around. We ended up putting 250 miles on the pickup that day. It was nice and relaxing though.
Bruce had never been to Custer State park or the Needles Hwy, so I took him on both of those. Here are some pics from that.

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/honeymoon/BruceNeedlesHwy2007.jpg
Then the next day, Wednesday, it was a little nicer in the morning. Our motel owner and manager had made us blueberry muffins for breakfast on this day. This is also the day he gave us a bottle of wine with glasses and a cork screw. He was so sweet.
We went to "Bear Country" after we left the motel. They have lots of animals roaming free.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/honeymoon/577664749108_0_BG.jpg
If you look close in this one, you can see some bears in the back.
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r107/gerrc21/wedding%20day/honeymoon/467664749108_0_BG.jpg
There was one bear that would guard the entrance to his part of the park. It was hard to get by him. He didn't want to let people go out.
At the baby "petting" zoo, there were 7 baby cubs. They take the babies away for their safety because the male bears might kill them. Anyway, there were 7 cubs in a pen, and they were all up in one little tree. It was really cute. We forgot our camera for that part, so didn't get a pic.
Your honeymoon seemed like it was so fantastic. I just love nature...it's so breathtaking and awe-inspiring. It sounds like you ran across a lot of really nice people on your honeymoon too. Love the pics!
After Bear Country, we went to Keystone. We had passes to ride the tramway and alpine slide. Oh, man, was that fun!!! I am such a chicken liver, that I didn't know if I would like it. But, it was a blast. We rode the tramway up and then had lunch at the top.
Here is a pic from the top.

After the tramway and slide, we went up to Mt. Rushmore. They have sure done a lot of work since the last time I was there. I so enjoy Mt. Rushmore. We took some pictures (I'll put them on in a sec) and bought some T-shirts for Darcy & Kaelie. We also bought a shot glass from each place we stopped.
We asked a nice looking lady if she would take our picture. She did, then told us they were vacationing for their 25th anniversary. They were from California.
That reminds me...we kept track of all the different licenses that we saw...and we saw 32 states and 2 Canadian provinces. There was also one from another country, but we couldn't figure out which country. We thought maybe Germany!
Here is one I took as we were walking up to the viewing terrace.

You sure had a wedding full of surprises! I’m so sorry you’ve been crying in the morning about the boat thing. I can remember reading your journal a few days before your wedding day and praying for good weather lol. Bummer! But everything has a reason. No matter how well you plan things. There will always be something that’s going to happen that surprises you.
I like your expression in the prayer pic. Lol. Everything looks so great together. Those cakes made me hungry. You have such a lovely family. You have such a glow around you in every picture as if you have been touched by an angel. You’d never tell by the pictures that you have been crying!

It is an awesome sight. I was raised here, so get to see it whenever I go to the Hills. And I never tire of seeing it. You should come visit. There are soooo many things to do and see in the Black Hills. You would have a lot of fun!!!
You do look so incredibly HAPPY in all your pictures. That's so awesome!
So when that lady told you guys she was celebrating her 25th, did you tell her you guys were on your honeymoon??
It won't let me add to your reputation!!
Yes, we had told her when we asked her to take our picture. We should have asked more people. That is the only pic we have together, except the one that they took at the top of the Tramway!
I am so incredibly happy!! As I have said...if a man could become even more loving than he already was...mine has. He is such a honey!!!
After we were at Mt. Rushmore, it started to rain again, so we decided we would go for another drive...this time to the Northern Hills. We ended up going to Sturgis (which is where we found the cheapest gas, $3.15 per gal.) I showed Bruce where the Buffalo Chip (a campground that we stayed at during the rally) and Bear Butte were. We drove through town and saw all the sights from when they have their motorcycle rally.
Then we headed back and went by a couple of really pretty lakes. Their lakes are so low too because of no rain in several years. I guess we should have gotten married sooner!! LOL
We were planning to go to Crazy Horse and have supper and see their laser light show. We got to Crazy Horse, and the guy at the gate told us their place to eat had closed at 6PM. So we drove back into Hill City and ate supper. It wasn't bad...but not as good as we had been having. After that, we drove back to Crazy Horse.
I have never actually been to Crazy Horse, because they charge a lot to get in and the monument isn't even done yet. But we wanted to see the light show, so decided to pay the money!! Well, we go to the museum and it is really pretty. But it has the same exhibits all the other Native American museums have...so nothing special there. I know they had to have spent a pretty penny on getting it built though. It really is nice looking.
We go to the place to wait for the light show. There is a guy that is dragging a bench across the floor. Now this is a beautiful wooden floor...and there are several people that are telling him to stop...they would help him. Does he stop???? Oh, NO!!! There was one cowboy that I thought was going to drag HIM across the floor. Everyone was quite mad at him.
Anyway...we wait and wait and wait! There are only 3 benches...and probably 30 people...so no place to sit, unless you want to sit on the floor. There were a lot of elderly people there too!!
The light show was nice...but nothing I would pay that kind of money to see again. If we could have had supper and/or been comfortable during it...it would have been better.

After you click on weddings, you have to go to Vicki Rodness wedding and look on pg 5 or 6. They are at the top. It is one pic of the John Deere tractor and one pic of the International. She actually has a pic of Bruce and I kissing in with Vicki's pics too. We got a good giggle out of that!!
(Vicki is my cousin that got married the same day and we shared receptions...that's why they are together)
I'm going to finish our story of the honeymoon.
After we got done at Crazy Horse, we went back to the motel and had some wine. We really wanted to go to the Hottub, but it wasn't ready. Also, we were looking forward to having the place to ourselves..but when we got back, there were 3 other families there. They must have found some customers during the day. Yeah for them....boooo for us!!! So, we just stayed in our room instead of our under the stars (and there were even stars by this time!!)
The next morning we got all packed up and ready to head home. On our drive home we stopped at Wall Drug. Bruce has never been there before. That amazes me. It is one of my favorite places to go!! Then we came on home.
I was hoping to get Friday off from work...but no such luck. The girls at work thought we were going to be busy, so I went in. Turned out we weren't, so I went home early.
Well, that is our honeymoon. We had so much fun. I'm so very glad we decided to do something right away. Now, it's back to working and trying to get ahead!! LOL
I forgot to tell you a funny story. On Wednesday morning, I called Darcy. She said, "Mother, why are you calling me...you are supposed to be on vacation!" I said, "I want to know if it's raining?" She answered, "What difference does it make...you are on vacation!??!" I told her, "I'm married to a farmer, and he wants to know if he should be feeling guilty?" She said, Tell my darling Step-Dad that he should NEVER feel guilty about vacationing with my beautiful Mother....and yes, it's raining!!!"
I thought that was so cute. Bruce enjoyed it too. And then he didn't have to feel guilty. Matter of fact, he still hasn't got into the field. It's tsill too wet!

aww thats cute what your daugther said. She sounds like a real sweetheart :) well that just means if it is still wet that you and Bruce can spend more time together. Which is OK. It just sounds like you guys had the best time. Now you can just relax and enjoy being married.
She is a sweetie. And we are so enjoying being married.

I think I convinced Nick after looking at your honeymoon pictures to take a roadtrip and go see Mount Rushmore. We always have wanted to and those pictures just put us over the edge. hahaha
That would be so cool!! Mt. Rushmore is sooo worth going to see. AND there are so many other neat things in the Black Hills to see that you sure wouldn't be wasting a road trip. I hope you do it!!

we want to do a road trip from Vermont across the country for our one year anniversary for two weeks before DH goes away for three-four months. It would be sooo worth it!
That would be so neat. Vermont isn't that far away...and what a wonderful vacation that would be. I so, so hope you can do it! If you do, let me know and I will tell you a place to call to help you set up the Black Hills part of it. They were so very helpful to me and made our vacation so affordable.

Thank you so much. I felt really beautiful...and my sweet husband told me at least 10 times that I looked beautiful. I'm really glad I decided to put the blue on it. It made life so much easier with my grandkids!! LOL Not to mention when I was dancing!!!
