Hi Ladies:
Going nuts tryng to find a dress for the 2nd ceremony - not the same man, though. (1st was 28 yrs ago)
and am struggling. Can't wear white, and don't want to. Colors of the ceremony are navy and gold.
Ideas would help - ceremony is in the early evening late October, full military dress for groom. Formal reception but not a full sit down dinner.
Here are some pics I have pulled - what do you think? Be honest, please - I am 46, size 14, blond - not too tall - about 5'4" - he's over 6' (yay)
If you guys have any other ideas, send 'em along ! Oh - wedding won't be in a church - outdoors we know, could be aboard a ship (huge aircraft carrier) or at a historic site. But definitely outdoors.
Thanks so much !

first off welcome to OW. Congrats on your engagement. I love either of those dresses. The gold one is gorgeous. It was not either mine or my dh's first wedding too. i opted to find a dress i could have the option to wear again. One i could wearto church. I found a nice one at J.C. Penny's and have worn it again.

If your colors are navy and gold, then I think you (especially being blonde) should look for something in a champagne. It's soft and pretty, and it'll still be lighter than the rest of the decor, allowing you to stand out.
Check out the mother of the bride offerings from many of the gown manufacturers... I think it'd be VERY easy to find plenty in that shade!

Christina Aguilera wore a really cute short gown for her reception. I would choose something much less formal. You can get these gowns by looking up destination wedding gowns I found this beautiful gown by looking up destination wedding dress on google:

Hope that helps!

I think the champagne colour could look lovely!!!! It never goes out of style it's such a pretty colour.
I know my Mom at her second wedding wore a fushia dress!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes bright neon fushia. So as long as you don't try that you'll be fine lol.

Welcome to OW. I love the gold one!
I was married for the 2nd time round 21 years after the first. Like you I didn't want a traditional white gown. I also didn't want a veil or anything puffy and like Treasia, I wanted something that I could wear afterwards. I ended up finding my dress in an antique shop.

Happy hump day Ladies !
Yes - I agree, the lighter antique gold or champagne color will probably fit much better than the bold gold one. The BM's will wear navy full length dresses, pic attached. We've got the groom taken care of with his dress blues (isn't a man in dress uniform just georgous regardless of his age?)
The pic of the white one comes in an antique gold and I love it. That may end up being my choice after all.
Have looked for dresses in the vintage sector websites and just haven't seen anything that looked good. I will definitely try searching on the destination dresses -
Thank you all so much for the supportive words and the honest feedback.
I think I now have a direction to head in !
