Ok, so I am new here and newly ADDICTED to this site! My FH has been making comments about me being glued to the computer for the last 4 days!

So, our wedding is not until July '08, but I went dress shopping with my Mom and Sis last Sat and fell in love with one in particular. It is not what I was picturing in my head, its BETTER! I wanted something a little different, not to full of a skirt (my FH hates "poof" as he calls it, I on the other hand love it), and I found the perfect happy medium! I can't copy the pic off the website and the type of site they have won't let me copy the link, but if you want to see it its on palomablanca dot com, dress #3763.

My issues are this:
1)this dress is made of raw silk and therefore is neither white or ivory, its "natural", so what color of veil can I wear?
2)do you think my flowergirl will have to wear silk too, I had wanted her in white when I thought I was wearing white and my BM color is black, so I don't want her in that color as well, she's too young and wants to look like a princess. Silk is sooooo expensive and I already have to shell out $1500.oo for my dress, so I would rather not have her dress silk as well!
3)silk shoes stain badly, so I was thinking silver Manolo Blahnik (Carrie's silver ones in sex in the city) type (no not real ones, i wish!) and silver for the bm's too (tea length black dresses)
4) can i still do white accents like cake, candles and so on
5)what about flowers?! I wanted white roses, do they go with "natural"

Sheesh, after writing this I feel like this dress may be more of a headache than I thought, I just love it and haven't been to a wedding with anything like it yet!

I would appreicate any feedback if you have the time to sit and read this lengthy post!

Welcome Jenna!! Let's see......

1)this dress is made of raw silk and therefore is neither white or ivory, its "natural", so what color of veil can I wear?

- I've seen veils in more of an ivory (which, since tulle is sheer, an ivory veil would be perfectly fine with a natural silk dress).

- I don't see any reason your flowergirl has to wear the same fabric as you, but maybe find a princess dress (or if you know anyone who is an expert seamstress, have someone make her dress) in a natural shade similar to yours.

3)silk shoes stain badly, so I was thinking silver Manolo Blahnik (Carrie's silver ones in sex in the city) type (no not real ones, i wish!) and silver for the bm's too (tea length black dresses)

- I think the silver would be beautiful, and along with the silk dress, very elegant and sophisticated.

4) can i still do white accents like cake, candles and so on

- I don't see why not!

5)what about flowers?! I wanted white roses, do they go with "natural"

- Again, I don't see why not! It's not like your flowers are going to "clash" with your dress... but maybe take a swatch of the fabric to your florist and see what recommendations they have... they might be able to select something closer in color that wows you!

Good luck!

Welcome!!!! Your dress sounds lovely.

1) I'm not really sure of what color veil you could wear. Do you have a swatch of your dress or can you get one? If so, I would take it with you to look around at veils. Also maybe consider the option of not wearing a veil. Have your hair done in a very elegant updo or down with lots of bouncing curls. That would be beautiful.

2) The FG does not have to be in the same fabric as you. I would watch out using white on her. She is going to be very close to you and the colors could clash. Are you using any other accent colors? If so you could have her in a dress that shade. If not, loook around, I'm sure you can find a dress in a neutral shade.

3) Silver shoes sound perfect!

4) I think you can still do some white here and there with the cake and candles.

5) White roses should be fine. White roses are not really white anyway unless you are going with silk flowers. Then it may clash being that close to your dress. As long as you are going with real flowers you should be fine.

One more piece of advice about the dress. Look for a little while longer, and think about it long and hard. You may find another dress that makes your jaw drop even more.

I love your dress BTW..I really like their collection..Very elegant gowns!! I can't be looking at those sites..It makes me want to change my mind!! LOL!

Anyhow, I love colored FG dresses! I think that would be a wonderful color. Champagne is another color option that you could use too!

As far as the veil, if you go to a retailor they should be able to help you. Your dress would look wonderful with a sheer tulle veil.

The silver shoes sound lovely! You could even do ballarina slippers!!

As far as the flowers go...I would take a swatch and see what your florist could do or find high quality silk flowers that might match as well. I'm not sure how the white roses would work with your gown but they do make off white colored roses that might do the trick.

Yes, it's hard trying to coordinate everything...Trust me I have been there. One thing worth mentioning is it's worth it. Some people don't believe this (I didn't whent I first started planning) but it's best to first pick out your gown and then decide on colors and bm dresses so they compliment and coordinate with your wedding party. You should buy the dress of your dreams and don't seat it..You will find something that will match and coordinate!!

Your feedback is great, thanks so much! And I still do plan on going to look at dresses some more, we only have 4 bridal stores here, I could go to Calgary, but I think that just might cause more trouble for me! The bridal store where I found this dress does allow you to take pics, so we are going back so I can closely examine the pics before I decide!

Awesome dress!

1) Every bridal shop I went to had veils of every color so I'd suggest bringing a swatch of your dress with you and hit a few!

2)I think you can just go with white or get a whitish organza dress since that fabric tends to shift shades and pick up what's around it.

3)Silver sounds awesome! (mine are pink!)

4)Of course!

5)See how the roses look against the fabric and if they don't mix well then just ask the florist about other 'white' flowers. From what I've noticed though, 'white' roses tend to vary in shade so you should be able to pick the perfect ones.
