China (fancy plates and such) is one of the things the bridal registry people at Macy's and such seem to push brides to register for. The stuff is normally pretty expensive; I was shocked when I saw a plate (one plate) for like $30!

So anyway, I wonder how many brides actually register for fine china and for those who did, how much of it did you get?

Another great question!!! These are fun brandi!!

I actually had no interest in registering for China, however shawn's grandmother insisted that we do because she always buys the grandchildren their first set of fine chine...Unfortunatley I have to register for a china cabinet too because I have no place to store it....lol

I registered mine on bed bath and beyond...The set I registered for is a 5 piece place setting which include the coffe cup and saucer and the entire this is 109...One 10 1/2 inch dinner plate is 32.99!!!

I registered for fine China & "nice" silverware, just so people would have something to buy us. We registered at Belks for this, and so far haven't received anything. We're expecting to get stuff when we have our shower here and the wedding.

We did not register for fine china. We had no desire to do so and neither of our parents really forced us to. My mom has some but has NEVER used it and his mom has some in a china cabinet that she has already pretty much told us that she was leaving her china and china cabinet to us, so we didn't feel the need to register for any.

We registered for it. I think it was on sale this past week for 50% off maybe, Younkers does that often on stuff on the interent at least. Then we gave people a 10% off coupon too. We have a bunch of those left.

We did not register for China...or plates in general...we've been in our house for just over 2 years now and my mom bought me a nice set when we moved in, not to mention all the other sets that were tossed at us, haha. We have so many dishes!!!! I did register for a toaster...we don't have one...I want a bagel!

We registered for and received 2 sets of square plates and whatever goes with it, and they were classified under fine China. The lady said that they could be used for everyday or China. We registered for them as everyday wear, and then for China separately.

We thought about it but said forget it. I have a ton of China that I'm goign to inherit. Plus if I want to have a big fancy dinner I go to my Grandmother and use it. I just know that for us personally it's a waste. There are too many other things on our registry that are necessities compared to China. But like I said that's just us.

We chose not to register for china. I was figuring we would only get a few random pieces. I am in love with June Lane by Kate Spade though. That is what we would have went for.http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b5dd34b3127cce90e6c83a949b00000016108TbOXDltQ

Well, I seriously considered registering for china because I love to entertain, but I figured that if I had plates that were so stinkin expensive - I probably wouldn't ever want to use them! Also, I didn't want to be stuck with just part of a set and then have to spend hundreds of dollars to complete it. We're most likely registering for a kinda funky pattern from Bed Bath & Beyond for about $7 for each plate, bowl, etc...

I've also wondered how many people register for that sort of thing nowadays. I guess it's not as common anymore. It's strange, but I can't imagine eating on anything other than the plates I've eaten on the last 15 or so years!

We didn't register for fine china, but we registered for good dishware. It's good quality stuff that will still go in the dishwasher, decent enough to use everyday but still nice enough for when we have company over.
