View Full Version : "Informal" Veil ideas.....

I've been thinking I wasn't going to bother with a veil at all, since I'm looking at a very informal (though still floor length) chiffon dress, and we're doing a beachy-styled wedding.

Initially I'd been thinking of just wearing my hair down/natural waves, with a bright tropical flower tucked behind one ear.

But the more I think about it, the more I think I'd like to at least do a short/light breezy veil (and possibly even somehow incorporate the flower with a small veil).

Anyone have any ideas or run across any pictures of something along these lines?

Have you searched ebay yet for any veils?? They have some simple, beautiful, inexpensive veils there!!

what about instead of a veil you wear a flower wreath (small of course) with ribbos streamers hanging down the back. I didn't want a veil either and this is what i done. i got many compliments on it as well. i think it would be lovely for a beach styled wedding.

No, not yet... I'm hoping to find some pictures actually ON someone's head first, to get a better idea of what to look for in terms of length and style... I'm thinking a small comb-type veil (just a small spray of tulle) will be the way to go... I just can't figure out how to incoporate the flower (if there's a way to do it at all!)

And I've also read SEVERAL times how easy it is to make one's own veil (at least more basic ones). So I'm thinking if I can find pictures of something I really like, I might try to make it myself (I'm not terrilbly craft, but I figure I've got plenty of time to try... lol)

A floral wreath (like small bright orchids) would be pretty, but I'm still thinking I want a small veil. I said something in passing to FH the other nigth about not planning on wearing a veil, and I think he was actually slightly disappointed *shrug*... so I'm trying to look at all my options, and just see if there's some compromise we can arrive at. :)

Have you considered a birdcage veil?? I don't have a pic of it. Have you seen the movie "sweet home alabama"? The main character wore one at that wedding.

Have you tried a local craft store, like Michaels or something. FH and I went to the one in Concord Mills - A.C. Moore - and they actually had veils and veil kits. They were only like $20-$30 and looked like they had the combs attached and everything. Might be something to look into.

OHHHHH, okay, I think that might just work.... I found a bunch on Unveiledbridaldesigns.com (both forward, and then pulled back) that are very simple and short, but give the right effect... My concern is over-powering the dress, which something like that won't.

thanks!!!:D

I am also wearing a chiffon dress and having an informal wedding. I don't know if this is what you have in mind but I used these as inspiration for my own viel they are made of chiffon.

I think this is what earlybird was talking about wearing it under the bun I agree that with a flower it would be beatiful and not overpower your dress also maybe in a shorter leangth
Here is another picture of a chiffon veil

here is a site where you can buy them

Oh now there's an idea.... I could maybe do a half-up do (still loose and breezy) with the flower and a short comb veil tucked in the part that's pulled back... hmmm... might take some plahing around....
