How would you do the bustle??? I'm thinking...have it pulled under..if that makes sense...instead of pulling it up the outside of the dress, pull it up underneath so that only the red lining hangs out???? I really can't imagine it...driving me nuts!!! Help! haha

I think you should bring it up!! Have a buttong half way in the train that won't be noticeable to the naked eye and bustle it so the bottom red lining of your dress is even all the way around the dress! That would be beautiful!!

Well think of it as this..Think that I am picking up a middle part of your train attaching it to you dress! It will be on top of the rest of your dress. Are you getting a visiual now??? lol

are the two side panels on the back stiched down? if not a simple pick up bustle would be perfect for this dress also I belive your dress is from David's and they should be able to show you all the bustling options that are best for your dress

Yes I'm getting the visual, haha...atleast about how you are saying it will be picked up...I can't see it in my head how it would actually look though...blah...my imagination is broken today...
Thanks so much for the link! I'm not using David's Bridal to do my alterations but will definitely look to see what options then have and go from there...thanks a bunch!

I wouldn't worry about trying to figure out a way to bustle your dress. When you go in for your alterations, the person should know how to bustle the dress. But, you do need a bustle - or everyone will be stepping all over you all evening, or you're going to have to hold that train all evening.
I had absolutely no clue what she would do with mine and it turned out beatuiful!

Oh...I totally agree about the bustle these days...I don't want my dress stepped on or ripped...I just love the look of it down. Scott's grandmother is doing all my alterations...she used to be a seamstress and used to make wedding dress' so I don't doubt her abilities...just anxious to see what will be done with it. I think I may have her sew boobs in, haha...I just want a little more on my day, haha.

This is called an English bustle (at least according to my alteration lady). That's what we're going to do for my dress when I get it altered.

I agree that a seamstress will be able to help you out. BUt putting a hook almost at your butt and taking your train up to it, would really work great. It will still show the red piping and get it off the ground!

when i got my dress they knew the best way to bustle it. And i agree you need a bustle for the reception. Mine broke after DH stepped on it and it was awful and just dragging around and it wasn't pretty bc it of course wouldn't stay all layed out, but we fixed it after about 15 min.

I would see what they suggest when you go for the fitting. Mine has a 'french' bustle. It's underneath so it shows a lot of the detail in the back. Something like that might work for yours since it has the ribbon at the bottom.

Summerbmd had the same exact dress as yours and she had a bustle I know she has pictures posted somewhere on here

JMO, but I would think an underneath bustle would look great with the dress as well, and they're not too hard to do. A friend of mine had an underneath bustle, (an english bustle according to Panther'sbride), and the seamstress color coded all of the strings so that we would know which to tie together. It only took a few minutes to do. :)

I agree with the french bustle (underneath)that way your piping can still be hanging over it. Also our seamstresses usually put a snap to hold anything in placeon the sides that may otherwise open or flop over, they also color codethe strings, very helpful...hope that helps you.

I know for me my train goes FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the time the reception starts I'm probably gonna wanna cut it off so I know that I have no chocie other then to get a bustle.
You should search your dress on the net and see if you can fidn a picture of is bustled. Or better yet ask around. :)

I can't wait to see how you are doing it. I guess I should start looking for mine also I don't want to drag it around outside all day.
