Hi!

First of all, I apologize my bad english. I'ts the first time I've registered in any english forum, and I don't quite have the routine in written english yet.

So, to the point. I'm 2009-to-be maid of honor from Finland. My friend and her fiancee have decided to celebrate their wedding with newspaper theme (because he is a journalist), and I am trying to come up with some ideas on how to use the theme in table settings, wedding favours and so on. (We are going to make a "wedding newspaper" to be handed out in the reception, but they would like to have some other wedding favours too.)

If someone has some ideas or has seen something related to the theme, I'd be grateful. :)

At the reception, you could do a slideshow with pictures of the couple pasted into fake newspaper articles with funny headlines. I'm not sure how to incorporate the theme into the table settings, though...that's touch.

You could do black, white, and red as the colors. Get it?

What's black, white, and "read" all over? The newspaper....ha ha ha ha.

Newspaper theme, I think of just that Newspapers. Make the napkins look like newspapers, have the programs read like a bulletin or a newspaper article. The cake can even look like a newspaper.

It would be VERY cool if the cake could look like newspaper. They can do wonders with icing.

Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to say (what the previous poster said). I once saw a pic of a wedding cake which looked like stacked newspapers.

Maybe you can incorporate newspapers in the centerpieces. Along with for example roses. It's really hard for me to explain because I can't really show you what I mean. If you add candles you might even get a romantic atmosphere.

I once saw an evening dress by a designer (don't know his name) and it was as if he somehow printed the news on the dress. The dress was pretty though. Maybe an idea for the maids' dresses?

It really depends on how far the couple wants to take this newspaper theme. Do they want to be subtle with the newspaper or not? Maybe you can try incorporate things that have to do with journalism in the wedding. For example not just newspapers but pens, paper, ink everything you can come up with.

This is kind of just a funny idea, something cool and maybe doesnt have to be incorporated at the reception but maybe at a shower...

First off, i dont know how far they want to take it or how crazy they want to be with it but if they are really fun they could have people who are serving appetizers at cocktail hour have a "paperboy bag" with rolled up newspapers, maybe even wear a paperboy hat.. thats for the adventurous and fun though :)

Also, maybe something like ordering newspapers from the date they met or the date they got engaged or something and framing them so the dates are there and everything and maybe use them as art on the walls at the reception or the shower or something.. Also something cute.. tell everyone you can to wrap their gifts in newspaper, might seem tacky to some people but if enough people in the immediate family do it it would be cute for them.. a litte surprise when they see all their gifts :)

just maybe :)

Also, and this is kind of silly too... you know how some silverware gets rolled? maybe put the silverware rolled in newspaper on top of a regular napkin.. its just a small touch and kind of quirky :)

Here's a link to a "newspaper" dress. LOL. Very cute, not very bridesmaids-y looking, but anyway, just thought I'd post it. IT'S $350!!!!
