in a few months i am going to be getting my hair cut pixie length and by the time my wedding gets here it wont be long enough so......

my hair is really thin and i wanted to get hair extensions. does this work on thin hair? how long does your hair have to be before you get it done? how much does it usually cost. I want it to last for about three days. and if i have straight hair can i get it curly?

Any hair experts out there?? lol

I wanted to get extensions around Christmas last year and did a ton of research.

They will last anywhere from 3 months to 6 months and it's best to use real hair to get it to mix in well. Synthetic hair can show a breakage line where it's attached.

It doesn't matter what the thickness is- it just changes the way that they attach it. If you use synthetic they melt it in if you use real they weave it or tie it to your natural hair. It can take about 3 hours to have it done.

Length doesn't matter too much either as long as you have some hair to attach the extension to. Although the shorter the hair the longer the extension will need to be and therefore - more money!

You should be able to style it anyway that you would be able to style your regualr hair- they may be able to use some extensions with curls but it if not you would be able to style it the good ol' fashioned way- using a curling iron.

I went to a few salons and called about 3 and they cost for extensions from a salon seemed to be about $1200 (a lot of places were more- but one girl had offered to do it in her home for $1000)

Getting the quotes was what made me decide it would be better just to grow it out myself. It hasn't been that difficult and I had a LOT of layers and super short hair. This way I can just throw it into a ponytailas it grows-wear my hair the way I want for the wedding and head to salon the next day to get it all chopped off again!
Hope that helps!

Why do you want to cut all your hair off and then pay for extensions? honestly this makes no sense to me at all. I would save your $ and keep your hair the length it is and then after the wedding go and get it cut into the cute little pixie cut.

That's what I'm doing...I've left my hair grow out for the last 8 months. I previously had it cut and permed. Now I'm just letting it grow out and the perm is slowly going away. It's been over a year since I had it permed and my hair holds curl like there is no tomorrow. After the wedding I'm getting it chopped off. I don't have time to play with my hair and do it the a.m!!

my cousin has extensions. And now she always has to get them bc its has thinned her hair extremely and eventually you will get bald spots bc they have to put them in there so tight. I would'nt do it.

Hey Saunya...
I don't know if you've made a final decision about what you're going to do but I found a salon that's advertising hair fusions for $650 instead of the normal $1200 as their "opening" special.

If you're interested let me know and I'll make sure I get all of the info for you!

I use clip in extensions sometimes by Hair U Wear. I think they look pretty good, and I'm sure a hair dresser would be able to work them into your do even better. I chose synthetic, and they cost me about $50. I definitely plan to wear them for my wedding, but I'll probably buy a new set so they're "fresh".
