BACK HOME AGAIN

The pager makes it's beeping noise,
The scanner comes to life.
You see excitement on his face
As he goes off to fight.

No matter what you're doing
Or whatever the current plan,
All you can say is "Later Hon"
As he gets those keys in hand.

You say a little prayer
That God will keep him safe,
That with all the pride and bravery
No one will make a mistake.

You know those men are Brothers
And fiercely will protect
The lives of each other and others--
They will truly give their best!

You and your "man's best friend"
Are both loyal and true.
You keep each other company
Waiting for him to return to you.

And when that front door opens
With "Honey I'm home" again,
You thank the Lord he's back OK,
Your brave and strong Fireman.

I know Nikki can appreciate this. Anyone else married/engaged to/dating a FF?

My BF used to be a volunteer FF. He has talked about doing it again, I appreciate all they do, but that is hard! They and their families are so brave

my best guy friend is a volunteer firefighter and i just can't let myself think about it because i get so worried. i could never be married to a firefighter, i don't think i could handle it. it takes a special woman to fill that job. i think it's great how they form such a tight family and really take care of each other. a lot of respect to them and their families!

my FH was a volunteer FF and that was nerve wracking enough! i hated when that pager would go off. i hold a huge amount of respect for the families of firefighters!

That poem is very touching. I have MANY friends who are FF and it is such a courageous job that they do!

That is such a true poem Elizabeth. Thanks for posting it. Oh, and I learned that you never listen to the scanner when he goes on a call. At a fire about a year ago they had to call for an ambulance for a fire fighter down. Well now, that is not something I want to hear. Not only is my DH there, but so are ILs and lots of friends. Luckily it was nothing, but I do not turn on the scanner now. I only worry more!
