I'm Gina, I'm 20 years old, and I live in Indiana. I am engaged to a 29-year-old (30 in May!) man named Larry. I met him through our roommate, Tim. Larry and I have only known each other since October of 2006, but it feels like it's been forever. We started out as friends first, but quickly developed feelings for each other. It's not something I can explain with ease, but anyone who's engaged or is already married who only knew their fiance/husband a short time before becoming engaged/married knows what I'm talking about.
While it wasn't love at first site for me, I knew the first time I saw him that I was going to fall in love with him. I came to the realization a long time ago that it's not just about my feelings for him. There's this knowledge and this certainty, something I never had with any other man. I know we're not going to be on cloud nine forever. The feelings of excitement and lust aren't always gonna be around. That's when the knowledge and certainty of my love for him takes over. It's already there, but it's something that will become more of a crutch as time goes on, along with commitment, trust, growth, and romance.
Larry and I haven't set a date yet since his family doesn't know that we're engaged as of yet. We plan on announcing the engagement on May 9th, the day of his graduation. We probably won't set a date until we get back from our summer vacation in early July. Another reason we have to wait to set a date is because I'm converting to Judaism, and I'd like to do so before we get married (he's Jewish). I haven't started conversion classes yet, and I need to find out when they end. Plus, we have to be careful when setting a date; Jewish wedding ceremonies cannot be performed on those tricky Jewish holidays!
This isn't even me in a nutshell, but if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask! It is an honor to be joining you ladies in this lovely little community and I hope to make new friends. :D
