View Full Version : Hayley & Evan 11 March 2006
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/hayrwel/Us1.jpg
Ok how we met. I came up to Christchurch for a week to visit my my brother (Craig). (It was the 4th November 2001). When I arrived at his place Evan was there as he had been helping move Craigs girlfriend (Cat) in (who is now his fiancee). To thank him for his help he was invited to stay and have tea with us.
The next day Evan was invited to come with us to see the fireworks display. He kept coming back each day to see me. On the 7th Craig and Cat went to bed and Evan and I were left watching the movie on TV (Hope Floats). He started to poke me in the side to annoy me and he discovered my hands were cold so he started stroking them to warm them up. Now the easiest way to do this was by putting his arm around me. We ended up kissing and Evan kept coming back to visit me until I had to leave to go home. At this stage I wasn't sure if I'd ever see him again as I lived 6 hours away.
Evan come down south too visit me TWICE in December. The only thing was he was moving to Auckland (the other end of the country) for work. We decided to give the long distance relationship a go. I flew up to see him in April, he flew down in July, I flew up again in October. In Dec 2002 he flew down for Xmas and in January 2003 WE drove up to Auckland to live together. We spent 2 years up there before we moved down to Christchurch (work again) at the end of last year.
It was 5th March 2004. We knew we would be getting married one day as we had talked about it alot and we wanted to save some money first.
Evan had been working out of Wellington for a couple of weeks (I was in Auckland) and one phone call he talked about getting engaged once he got home. So thats what we did. The night he got back we had a bubble bath together and he proposed in the bath. He said, "Hayley will you do me the great honour of being my wife" (it was something along those lines - even though I knew what was coming it was still kinda surreal. Maybe I was just too nervous to remember his exact words). Of course I said Yes!
The next day we went shopping for a ring and then we rang our families and friends who of course were all happy for us.
We are getting married in a church called the Pioneer Church in Gore. Its only used for weddings now so we don't have to have a religious wedding. My old neighbour has said she will play the music for us. We have a celebrant booked for our ceremony which is going to be at 2.30pm. My parents have booked a LIMO to pick me up at my parents house, (which is about 20 minutes away from Gore) to take me to the church and afterwards to take the bridal party to the gardens for our photos. FH doesn't know about the limo so it'll be a surprise for him when we come out of the church as husband and wife.
We only are having a small bridal party.
Bridesmaid = Catherine (my brothers fiance whom I get on well with)
Bestman = Hayden (one of Evans mates)
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/hayrwel/ppchurch.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/hayrwel/Church.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/hayrwel/churchfront.jpg
The reception is going to be held at the restaurant across the street from the church. We are hiring a 2 person band for the dance and they are going to sing Chances Are by Bob Seger and Martina McBride for our first dance.
My engagement ring is 18 carat white gold with a 1/4 carat diamond.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/hayrwel/ring.jpg
My wedding ring slots nicely against my engagement ring. The photo isn't all that clear, but it gives the idea. Again it is 18 carat white gold and it has 7 small diamonds in it.
We also have the eternity ring which is the same as the wedding ring and fits on the other side of the engagement ring. So I knew which ring was which we had the date that the wedding will be on engraved into the wedding ring.
Evans wedding ring is really cool. It is 9 carat white gold and is quite unusal which is why I like it so much. I'm glad he liked it too.

I've made the invitations myself using metallic sapphire board and metallic quartz paper. The size - 4 invitations to 1 piece of A4 sheet. In the corners of the sapphire I punched heart holes. The quartz is cut out with sissors that has a 'ripple' effect, and it is sellotaped to the sapphire using double sided tape. The return cards are much smaller versions but instead of having the heart holes in the corners I have put 3 holes along the bottom of the quartz. The envelopes are in the quartz and are the matching size for the invitations.

The place where the reception is held, is a hotel as well and their present to us is a room for the night at no charge. (Which is all good). We are going to spend 3 nights in Wanaka and 3 nights in Tekapo. We are hoping to go on a horse trek while in Tekapo. Both these places are right by a lake. I'm just hoping the weather will be nice for us.

They are ivory to go with my dress. I have to start wearing them around the house to wear them in. I am so not used to wearing shoes like this.

Evan brought Oyster for me for my 21st. I'd just moved to Auckland to be with him and was feeling a bit lonely not knowing anyone there and missed the pets from back home. When he asked what I wanted for my birthday I said a kitten. She has become my best friend and its great having her around when he is away. At night she is normally found curled up next to me in bed. She has a great personality and is such a smoocher. Just about everyday she will come and greet me when I get home from work.

This is the type of suit the groom and bestman will be wearing. I took FH in today to have a try on and the result is pretty good. :bbwink:
I'm not sure if you can tell from this photo but there is a wee dome button as the top button for the shirt. In the pic it is gold and black but the one the guys will be wearing will be silver and black.

Well I haven't been checking up on this site for a while as I've been busy with Christmas and New Years and just spending time with Evan.
Last week we were away and stayed with my parents so we could catch up with people to get wedding plans sorted.
We saw the celebrant, the church (I put in some new pics), sorted out the menu where the reception is going to be, caught up with the photographer, one of the people in the band, and the person doing the flowers for us.
We have posted the invitations too. About 2 1/2 weeks ago, and we have had a few replies sent back to us already.

I am with everyone else, Welcome Back :D Your wedding plans seem to be coming along nicely. Everything looks very nice.
Best Wishes
This is the Tiara I brought for myself and the hairpins I thought I would use in my bridesmaids hair.
My dress has arrived too, but I won't go in for a fitting until next month so it's a little bit closer to the day I get to wear it. I'll take my tiara in too to make sure it will look alright with my dress. I sure hope it does.
And on Friday I'm going in for a manicure. I've never been before but I'd like to just have my natural nails for the day and they need tidied up a bit.

You're getting so close! It must be so exciting for you!

I love the head piece and the hair pins too. And I cant even imagine how excited you must be.
My Nan would like to take care of the cake for us.
We are having 3 layers, the first one is going to be a fruit cake, and the other 2 will be chocolate. They will all be square and the will descend in size. They will be 3 separate cakes, not stacked on top of each other. Instead my Nan has found some vases (they are stable ones) which we will put the chocolate cakes on. The fruit cake will not be raised and one of the sides will face out. The vases will be of different height and are going to be filled with clear acrylic ice stuff.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c167/rainbowtreat/Ice-BLUE.jpg
The chocolate cakes will be to the each side of the fruit cake and they will be angled so that the corners of the cake will be above the corners of the fruit cake. (is that even understandable). I should of taken some photos when I was down there but didn't even think about it. Nan is going to have the choc cakes made and Mum is making the fruit cake. Nan is going to do the icing herself and is making the toppers herself with icing. All the icing will be white. There is going to be one on the top cake and it is the outline of a heart with a little filled in heart dangling inside it. The second topper sits on the big cake and will be 2 filled in hearts side by side with an E on one and a H on the other done in either a silver or pink tinge and at the bottom of the hearts will be 2 little rings (silver) with a little tiny bird on each. On the middle cake will be some roses (made of icing) which will have a pink tinge on the edges of the petals. There will also be some roses at the bottom (on the plate) of the right hand corner of the big cake.
Well I think I've described all I can. I really should have taken some photos as Nan had made some trial runs of the toppers and roses, and she also has the vases.
Oh and the cakes will not be on plates as such - Nan is getting some glass cut to the right sizes.
First a Welcome and Introduction by the celebrant.
Hopefully she will include this reading in the intro:
Love is the Reason
Love is the reason why this day was chosen by you both to begin your lives together -
And love is the reason why you both will give with all your hearts for the good of each other.
Love is the reason that together you will become one -
One in hope, one in believing in life, and one in sharing the coming years.
Giving of the Bride:
She will ask my parents to stand and then ask them "Who gives this bride away" (or something to that effect) and they will say "We do"
Declaration of Intention:
.... will you take.... to be you wife/husband, will you love and respect her/him and stand through whatever may come, so that you can genuinely share you life together?
Response: I will.
Vows:
..... I declare my love for you. I invite you to share my life as wife/husband. I promise always to respect your needs and to accept you as you are. I will try to be kind, unselfish and trusting. I will always work for a happy home for us both.
Exchanging of Rings:
.... I give you this ring as a sign and measure of my love. From this day forward your every breath shall be surrounded by my love, today, tomorrow and always.
Another little reading from celebrant:
Today is a dream realized from years past
The white dress, the wedding cake, the promise of a love that lasts
Today is the beginning of a journey the two of you now share
The vow to love, honor, and cherish now seen in the rings you wear
But tomorrow, tomorrow you will wake as husband and wife
Where the person next to you is yours for life
And so my wish to you both is that when you wake each day
You will turn to each other with the same look you share today.
Pronouncement:
I now pronouce you husband and wife.
Signing of the Register:
Reading :
The Blessing of the Apaches
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness for you,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two persons,
But there is one life before you.
May beauty surround you both in the journey ahead
and through all the years,
May happiness be your companion
and your days together be good and long upon the earth.
Conclusion
Fab wedding plans you and your fh are real cute together and as for your cat oyster he/she? is really cute i have a cat he is called Tigger
Here are some cool sites for our photos to be taken.

Very pretty! Looks like some places here in East Texas.
Here is what is going to be on offer on the buffet table.
Roast leg of Lamb
Chicken Drumsticks
Beef Casserole
Roast Potatoes
Roast Parsnips
Roast Pumpkin
Broccoli
Garden Salad
Pasta Salad
Carrot Salad
Cold meat & chicken platter
Pavlova, Fruit Salad, Cheesecake, Brandy Snaps
and for Supper
Selection of slices & cakes
Assorted savouries
Assorted sandwiches
We are going to have 2 bottles of wine on each table, a jug of orange juice and a jug of water. We will have a bar tap for 2 hours and that will be for "on tap" only and not for bottled beer (which would work out more expensive). We are going to be buying 2 cases of wine which means the stuff that is not put on the table can go behind the bar which means wine shouldn't have to be added to the bar tab. There will be sparkling grape juice on the head table and anyone else that wants it can get it from the bar. Non alcohol drinks will be on tab right through the night.

I wanna know too!! Love your ceremony outline! :bbmrgreen:
We have booked ourselves on a half day horse trek while we are at Tekapo, and we would also like to take a drive to Mt Cook while we are there too. Other than that we don't have anything planned, except to relax and enjoy what is hopefully going to be nice weather, and to enjoy the fact that we will be husband and wife.
The places we are staying at are not expensive. The first picture is the camping ground in Wanaka where we are going to stay in a tourist cabin. I don't have a pic of it but you can see the kind of view we will have which is why we are staying in a camping ground for the first part of our honeymoon.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/hayrwel/WanakaCamp.jpg
In Tekapo we are staying in what looks to be a cute wee cottage. Even though we don't have a view of the lake from there it is not far away from it.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/hayrwel/laktekcam.jpg
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/hayrwel/Picture-021a.jpg
Both places are inexpensive and they both come with linen and towels and have their own bathroom so its a good way to go. I don't see the point of spending hundreds of dollars for a real fancy hotel, when the places we are staying at will be just as nice.
I went in for a fitting and here are some pics.

Well we are at my parents now. Its good to be off work. We only have a few final details to go over now like catching up with the hairdresser so she can have a practise at doing my hair, I'm going in to have my nails done on Thursday and we have to catch up with the celebrant to make sure her draft is ok for the ceremony and then we are having a church rehearsal on Friday.
My brother and BM arrive down on Tuesday night and the BMan and his partner will arrive on Friday.
I'm getting kind of nervous and it a teeny tiny bit scary.
I hope the weather improves by Saturday. Theres a bit of a cold front going through at the moment.

Those are very cute thank you cards! Now they get to become the bane of your existence of course...lol. :)
Well on my day off on Wednesday I finally completed all the 'thank yous' and put them all in the post.
I rang the photographer also and he is going to send up the proofs for us to go through to sort out which photos we want in our album. I can't wait to see them. Then we will have to go down south at somestage to meet up with him to go over how we want our album set out.

Ok, I have to say it worked, Hayley. But it is just so dang dark in there! Is that you and Evan? It really is sweet how he spins you around and all that, and having a live band is pretty cool. I just wish somebody would either turn on the light or put you guys in that doorway where all the light was.
Yes that is our wedding dance. We had a couple of dance lessons. My Uncle was using our digital camera to record it for us. We didn't know he was doing it untill we were going through the photos on the camera on our honeymoon. I was sooo pleased that he did that for us. A really nice surprise. Yes unfortunally it was a bit dark down that end of the room so it is hard to see it.
The whole dance is recorded (in bits) so if anyone is interested in seeing it let me know and I'll post the rest.

I would like to see the whole thing. You can get little glimpses of you when the cameras flash, and maybe Evan will lead you more into the light. Thanks for sharing, Hayley!! You guys make such an attractive couple!! You both are just so pretty!! Don't be offended, I mean that in the best possible way!!!

I would say those dance lessons paid off! From what I saw the dancing was beautiful. I loved the live music as well!
I've just caught up on the photos my brother took.

Ditto! And I was thinking the same about the big box ;)
It was a wooden (now what is it called?) A Blanket Box, Sea Chest? My Aunty and Uncle made it for us. Its really nice. All the presents are still at Mum and Dads but I'm planning on bringing them back with me when I go down in July.

Here in the US we call them cedar chests (obviously if they are made out of cedar wood) or hope chests. Sean's parents bought us a beautiful antique one for our engagement gift. It sits in the living room but it empty since I want to get it relined.

I love them too. I have one my mom made for me when I turned 16. I still love to pull the blankets out of them to snuggle in the cold. I think you will love it, Hayz
It will be a good place to keep the wedding presents in until we have somewhere to put everything. At the moment thats what all the presents are in at my parents. And also it means I'll be able to fit everything in the car to get them home safely.
