Patrick and I actually met in high school. We were neighbors to be even more precise. We lived across the street from each other when we were both living in Orrington. I was too busy with my social life though to pay any attention to him. His foster mother would always tell me to get up on their porch when it was raining outside and I was waiting for the bus. We would make small talk, but never spoke or even acknowledged one another except for while waiting for the bus. Then in the summer of 1998, I moved from Orrington to Glenburn to live with my father and didn't see Patrick after that, until......

Jump ahead to April of 2004. I was in my last year of college, getting ready to graduate with an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies. My friend Andrea and her boyfriend David decided that we all needed to go out without our munchkins and have a good time. We ended up going to Russell's to play pool. I am not very good at pool though, so I eventually convinced them to go somewhere to bowl. The only good bowling alley around here though is The Sports Arena, so that was where we went. Andrea and I went to get our lane set up and grab a drink while David lagged behind talking to someone. I almost recognized the guy he was talking to, but wasn't sure where I knew him from. He didn't come over and hang out with us, so I didn't give it too much thought.

The following Friday I got a phone call from Andrea TELLING me that I was going out with her and David that night and that I had no choice in the matter. She said that David's cousin was coming with us though and that they had to go pick him up first. I figured that since this cousin wasn't driving that it was one of the younger cousins and therefore didn't think much of it. Well, it took them two hours to get to my house to pick me up. When I finally got in the car, I realized who was sitting next to me. We went back to The Sports Arena for some Karaoke. Andrea and I went to sit and the boys disappeared. Turns out that Patrick was at the Crane game trying to win me a stuffed animal. He didn't win me anything that night, but has won me many animals since then. He got up and sang Karaoke and we danced and had a good time. The first song he did was actually, "Behind Blue Eyes" by Limp Bizkit. Later on though, to really catch my attention, him and a buddy got up there and sang "Barbie Girl". He started doing some really funky things and caught my attention all right. Things progressed from there and we have been together ever since.

And of course there was the engagement!

Patrick and I had made jokes about getting married. Everyone figured we would eventually get married, but the only one pushing the subject was his father. We had gone down to Steve and Carla's for dinner one day and Steve grabbed my hand and said, "Why isn't there a ring on this finger yet?" Patrick and I had only been dating for five months and I figured Patrick would just laugh it off. Well, a couple of weeks later while I was at work, I got a call from my friend Andrea who told me that Patrick had just called her and that we were all going out tonight. This confused me because honestly, Patrick and Andrea don't always see eye to eye so I wasn't sure why Patrick was calling Andrea to find out if she wanted to go out. And honestly, I was a little upset because nobody had asked me if I wanted to go out. Everyone just made plans without me.

After I picked up Patrick from work, he drove us over to The Sports Arena and the whole way over he kept saying things like I have this weird feeling that something bad is going to happen tonight. When we got over to the bar, Andrea and David said that their car was overheating so David and Patrick hung back to take a look at it. Andrea and I walked in and I immediately saw Carla and asked what the heck she was doing up in Bangor at this time of night. She said that her, Kelsie and Steve had come to Bangor to get costumes for Halloween (this was all on October 26 by the way) and that Kelsie wanted to play pool so they stopped there to play. Seemed kind of fishy to me.

Steve and I then proceeded to play a game of pool and as we all know, I stink at pool, so I wasn't having a very good time. As I was about to make a shot, Patrick says, "Honey, come here." to which I replied, "What do you want?" but still walked over. The next thing I knew, Patrick was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I started to cry and was giving Patrick a hug when Steve said, "You know, it's still your shot!" Ahhhh....to be a Davis.

I'm sorry that was so long and that is the same post as in my journal, but I just love telling the stories!!
