Hi I am new to this. I am getting married on May 27th. I am having the hardest time trying to figure out what colors to use. I want to have an evening wedding. My fiance doesn't want to have a theme and it is going to be outdoors. We just got in a car accident so we really don't have very much money to spend because we have to buy a new car. No, the accident wasn't our fault but these insurance things take so long. Does anybody have any suggestions on colors or frugal tips?

I certainly hope that your insurance comes through quickly for you. I have never had a problem with either of the accidnet claims I have had to submit. Maybe light a candle under your claims agent's backside so they will get it processed quicker.
As for colors, what do you like, neutrals, pastels, primaries, jewel tones, metallics? What are your favorite colors? How about your FH, what are this thoughts? I know Sean didn't want anything too girly. So we went classic and neutral.
I just saw what date you are getting married on, we are date twins! Fabulous! I am having a formal evening wedding that night too, I am going with black and white with slight pink accents. If you look in the journal section you can see how I have the colors put together. But all white, navy & white, black and white with silver, gold or red, red and white would all look great.
Where are you having your wedding at?

May is a good time of year, because I think that so long as you are not using SUPER dark colors, anything would be just beautiful. We are getting married in July and are using lavendar and yellow (a pastel yellow, not school bus yellow). For May, I think a peach and cream would look nice, some pastels or some light pinks and blues. As I said, that is a good time of year. Almost anything would look spectacular!

Choose some colours that you like, perhaps somthing that is something you and your fiance like alot.
My wedding is the first weekend in June, we're having black, white, silver, and ice blue. Bridesmaids are in ice blue tops with black skirts. Groomsmen in black tuxes with ice blue vests and ties. We're taking the colour right through our invitations to the table decor and cake design ;)
If you have a colour in mind that you really like, but don't know what to pair it with, take a colour wheel for ideas, or check out some wedding magaziens for colour combinations.
Good Luck!

I think it should be colors that you like, that you both like would be ideal. The time of year does play a role too but if you don't pick colors you are in love with it may cause you to want to change colors often and make planning even harder than it already is.;)

My frugal tip: make sure you pick flowers that are in season if you're going live flowers. There's more than that in my brain, but at the moment that's all I can come up with. We're going as frugal as possible as well. We're getting married May 13th and our colors are light yellow with a touch of pink and ivory. You can pick basically anything though. Maybe you don't want to restrict yourself to a certain set of colors. I know there's a few people on here who are doing quite a few colors.
