Samantha and Michael met the very first day of their very first year at college. She thought he was pretty cute, and he thought she was pretty cute. They became friends, you know, the just friends kind of friends. They had classes together, the same friends, and the same overall goals in life.
Their second year in college (Sophomore), Michael ask Samantha if she would like to do something casual for Valentine's day. Nothing too special, he had just rented an airplane and wanted to go flying around to watch the sun set with a friend. Of course, just casual.
How romantic, thought Samanta. I would love to join you! She thought it was a date - their first date. He thought they were just friends going out to fly around at sun set no even thinking this may be considered romantic or even remotely linked to the fact is was Valentine's Day.
They took off from the airfield and flew around, a couple twists and turns, then settled nicely to watch the sun set over the golden hills of rolling grain. So peacefull. So quite. So romantic. sigh.
The landed the airplane and taxied to park. Michael leaned over in his seat and gazed at Samantha. She was glowing from the flight. He took her hand and asked, do you wanna make out now? what? Michael completely ruined the romantic moment, maybe the most romantic moment ever in the history of romance! of course not, Samantha said as she unbuckled and got out of the airplane.
Michael was perplexed. why not? he wondered. He started calling her more often, eventually every day, to see what she was doing and if she'd like to do something with him. He started making an effort run in to her on campus. March 10, he came over to Samantha's home to visit and they talked all night long and in to the early morning, holding hands and smiling. He kissed her. She let him.
They stayed together through college, they moved in different directions for work, and five years after their first kiss they finally tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony with family and friends from all across the country. Even though they lived hundreds of miles away from each other, their love grew more and more every day. The saying distance makes the heart grow fonder has been proven by Samantha and Michael's love.
